1. I’m looking to move on my very heavily road-worn Mexican ‘50s Classic Precision. So heavily road-worn in fact that the finish has been entirely removed leaving it at ‘bare wood’ level (a very John Deacon-esque look as it happens, though I don't know if this was the intention!). This was done by a previous owner, who also fitted a Badass bridge and replaced the anodised pickguard with a black one. Looking at the pickup cavity I think it was probably blonde before being de-finished. I picked it up because it was an affordable way to try out a ‘proper’ Precision having not owned one before, and I have to say it hasn’t disappointed. It’s had a full set-up with frets levelled, nut/truss rod/action adjusted, and is now strung with Roto 66 flats: sounds properly ‘thumpy’ and plays very nicely. The wide neck was a slight concern initially but having lived with it I now ‘get’ the general opinion that this is a very comfortable and playable machine. This Precision plays and sounds as it should, but there are a few things to flag up in the interests of transparency. If you want it looking at its best the body could probably do with some further sanding in places (the worst area of unevenness is pictured), and the pickguard must have been very slightly ‘out’ relative to the old one as a couple of the screws go in at a slight angle and therefore don’t sit flush to the guard. There are a few nicks and scuffs in the body, to be expected I guess as a result of it's unprotected nature so it could do with a few coats of gun oil or lacquering to protect it, but that’s a matter of personal preference I guess. The neck has barely a mark on it, and the wood grain is attractive generating a really pleasing overall look in my opinion. Why am I selling? I bought a Squier VM Jazz (see other ad) and this Precision having not owned either before, and have now decided that a single Precision-type machine and my Stingray will suit my needs, so having recently acquired a ’79 Tokai ‘Hard Puncher’ this and the Jazz have to go. I’m looking to move this on for £330: I doubt you'll find one cheaper, but then it is a 'unique' variant! Collection only from nr M40 J7, about 10 miles east of Oxford. Cheers, Tim
2. Payday/Bank Holiday bump! Lots of love for these excellent VM Jazzes: with the Gotoh, Model Js, Ki0gon circuit and a proper set-up, for £220 what's not to like?!
3.
Dude, I've tweeted a link to this. Hope you don't mind? If I had the funds I'd snap your hand off. This is a stunning deal. Matt
Yeah, I guess. Thanks, and appreciate the kind words...
4. Looking for a cash sale thanks: a recent purchase needs to be funded!
5. Thanks: it does look decent, even though I say so myself. And as I say I think the various mods have really benefited what was already a great bass beforehand...
6. I've now got more basses and guitars than I've got space to keep them, so I’m reluctantly parting with my 70s Vintage Modified Squier Jazz which has been further modified with the addition of a Gotoh 201 bridge, Ki0gon tone circuit with series/parallel push/pull option and DiMarzio ‘Model J’ pickups. Oh, and the chrome knobs replaced with traditional Jazz black plastic ‘lined’ ones. These combined with a proper set-up (‘the usuals’ plus nut adjusted, frets levelled and neck shimmed) have made what was previously a very good instrument into a versatile, low-action belter. It's in good to very good overall nick, but there are a couple of dings on the front and the top edge, plus a couple of screwholes from a generic 'ashtray' (provided, but not currently fitted). The dings actually are pretty well camouflaged by the amber finish: the screwholes perhaps less so, but you could of course hide them with the ashtray! I've done my best to photograph the blemishes, but they actually probably look worse in the pics than they do in reality. I'm biased of course, but I think it's now quite a classy looking beast! Sounds great too: probably a bit more 'poke' than yer average Jazz with the Model J's, plus the S/P switch gives another tonal option. Asking [s]£230[/s] NOW £220: no trades thanks. Collection preferred: I'm 5 minutes from M40 J7, about 10 miles east of Oxford. 7. Great amp. I should know, this used to be mine! For £230 I pretty much guarantee you won't find better grind and versatility!!! My VT Bass Deluxe and a Reidmar comes fairly close, but doesn't quite have the sheer welly that this does. GLWTS Nik: doubt it'll take long...
8. Had a pair of DiMarzio J pickups from Buff. Great nick, arrived very quickly, all good. Cheers Buff! Tim
9. Purchased a series/parallel wiring loom from John. Couldn't have been more helpful at every stage of the process: loom received within 36 hours of ordering. S/P option on a Jazz well worth having too!
10. Sounds like you've discovered the Landmark's 'forté' then Nik? I thought you'd like it! 👍
11. Sold my Tech21 Landmark to Nik today. Great guy, excellent comms, no issues at all!!!
12. Bump and reduction to £280! Sansamp RBI & RPM in a box, usable as independent channels or mixable, with 300w of power too!
