1. I would imagine this has been a lot of peoples' 'first guitar'. Well, this has, or the Woolies version, or the Kay version, or the Audition version, or the Arbiter version! Unlike most though this one has very few 'battle scars': they seem to be perceived as not being particularly robust, but this one has fared pretty well!
2. I'm parting with my Teisco/Woolworths 'Top Twenty': too many guitars I don't play! This guitar is in remarkable condition for a guitar of its age (uncertain, but probably at least 45 years old) and type, especially when 'Top Twenty's have a reputation for questionable build quality and perhaps not being 'pampered' as some other guitars might be. There are of course some swirl marks and surface scratches, but you have to look pretty hard to see these. There's also a small area of peeling lacquer on the headstock edge (photographed). The metalwork is a little grimy, but only in hard-to-reach places: some of the screws have oxidised a bit too, but you might expect that given its age! Everything works, with no scratchy pots or switches. It's surprisingly versatile sound-wise: does jangly and gritty very nicely, although perhaps not best suited to Metal! It has all the original badges and stickers (including the one where you might expect the truss rod to be on the headstock, which often seems to have disappeared on these). There's also one on the back of the headstock for the 'Association of Musical Instrument Industries', whatever that was: I've never seen this on another 'Top Twenty'. The 'Top Twenty' headstock badge is also present and correct. The original vibrato arm and tuning pegs are present: a couple of the pegs are a little on the stiff side but still work as they should. The action is slightly on the high side and there's a very slight choking on the higher strings around the 9th/10th fret: it could be a high fret, or a set up would probably address this but I've lived with it and it's not caused me a problem. If you're after a good example of a 'Top Twenty' or just something a bit different in the six string department with bags of character, charm and history in extremely good condition for the price of an anonymous Strat copy this might be for you! Feel free to ask questions: collection only from east of Oxford (just off M40 J8).
3. Can't seem to edit the 'Price or Trade Value' for some reason: SOLD Hi. It's time to part with my faithful Landmark 300 having decided to downsize. These are fantastic amps, that tend to go a bit 'under the radar' in my view. Incredibly versatile: two 'blendable' channels gives the opportunity to either channel switch or run both together. I doubt there's a sound you can't get with this amp, and live and recording engineers love the D.I which I think is about as good as they get. Comes in a 2U flightcase, which has obvious signs of 'use' but the actual amp is pretty much spotless so it's done its job. Footswitch has the odd dink in the paint as you might expect from normal contact with footwear, but functions perfectly. Happy to answer questions: no trades thanks! Located east of Oxford: collection only please... Cheers, Tim
4. Steve sold me his Reidmar at the weekend: all very quick and painless, great comms, lovely fella and a great deal! Used it last night: all good, and it's right what they say about the volume from a small box that fits perfectly in a laptop bag!
5. Two very helpful responses: thanks! Guess I'll go for an NL2 then as that's the safer option! Cheers, Tim
6. Hi. Just about to acquire an EBS Reidmar from a fellow Basschatter, and as a result need to connect amp to cab via a Speakon lead for the first time. I'm connecting to a Schroeder 1212L: can anyone confirm what type of Speakon I need to use? There seem to be two varieties: NL2 and NL4, and it sounds like NL4 is the 'safe' bet as it will be compatible with NL2 AND NL4 female sockets but obviously I want to make sure I get it right: any guidance appreciated! Cheers, Tim
7. The time has come to part with my Eastwood Sidejack, in the continuing process of rationalising equipment levels to a more sensible level! I bought this guitar for a 'reformation' gig by my old band as I fancied using something new and a bit different. After the gig the urge remained to continue making music, but I found myself playing bass instead: as a result this guitar has been gigged once and has been very sparsely used. These Eastwood guitars are amazing value for money: this one has a set neck, feels solid as a rock, and has 'quality' touches like triple-lined edge binding on the body. It's in virtually mint condition: being honest there are one or two VERY minor 'dinks' on the body, but you have to look very carefully for them. Quality-wise it easily matches your Squiers and Epiphones: it's a bit different too but still pretty versatile sound-wise. I'm in Great Milton, near M40 J8. No trades I'm afraid, and collection only please: a 'halfway meet' might be possible depending on distance though. Cheers, Tim
8. Sold my Squier Bass VI to Ben at the weekend. Nice and easy, no hassle, great chap. Hope you like the Bass VI Ben! Cheers, Tim
9. Now sold: thanks to Cosmo Valdemar for a nice smooth transaction, and to all others for their interest. Cheers. Tim
10. Appreciate the positive comments on the bass and the vendor: thanks to Pestie in particular! Much interest, but still available...
11. I've decided to sell my Squier Bass VI. It's a beautiful instrument: the reviews speak for themselves! However, although it's lovely to look at and play, and beautifully made for the money, I've realised that it's not something I'm going to have a great opportunity to use. When I got it it from a fellow Basschatter it still had the protective plastic on the pickguard and pick-ups. This has been removed, but it's been only been used at three rehearsals and picked up for the odd five minute play at home since. It's therefore in mint, 'as new' condition, but with a significant saving. The tremelo arm is still in its bag: I haven't used it at all. Sadly I have disposed of the box and there's no case. Sorry, no trades and no offers: you won't find a new one cheaper, and it is literally as good as new. Located in South Oxfordshire, near M40 J8. Cheers, Tim
12. Reduced yet again to £170...
13. Buuuump, and down to £190.
14. Bought Mike's virtually new Bass VI from him. Lovely fella: couldn't really be any issues with the instrument as he'd only had it a few days (still had the protective cellophane on!). Top man though: nice cuppa, lovely little dog and very hospitable and accommodating. Would happily purchase again from him: thanks Mike!
15. I’m looking to sell my 1995 MIK Epiphone non-reverse Thunderbird. For it’s age I’d say it’s in pretty good nick, but being nearly 20 years old it does have the odd mark, as follows:

A ‘battle scar’ to the side of the body just above the jack socket (photographed)
Slight fading at the upper front edge of the body from wrist/arm wear (photographed)
A small knock on the side of the neck pocket
Slight buckle rash
Some very small marks and dinks on the headstock edges
The usual ‘age-related marks and wear’ that you’d expect to find on close inspection
I'm probably being a bit 'picky' in order to be honest: the only significant issue is the knock on the side, and I imagine even this could be fairly easily dealt with if you were minded to get it sorted. I probably wouldn’t be flogging it if I hadn’t picked up a used Stingray a while ago, and since then the Thunderbird hasn't been needed. It plays well and the twin pick-ups give plenty of tonal options. You don’t see many about, and it’ll no doubt appreciate massively in value the moment I get rid of it (as with nearly every other guitar I’ve sold over the years, it seems!). I’m looking for [s]£270[/s] [s]£230[/s] [s]£210[/s] [s]£190[/s] £170 for it, and it’s located in South Oxfordshire near the M40 (J8): come and have a look and a cuppa. In the event of a sale it's collection only please... Cheers, Tim
