I wouldn't mind some more input on the bridge if anyone has a moment. I'm back and forth with Rich about this bass as I type. Rob

Richard Henry has posted what appears to be a very nice clean looking '72 Precision tonight. I've known Richard for more than 30 years, and in my opinion, he is one of the good guys. I'm going to let one of you guys enquire on the price.... https://www.instagram.com/richardhenryguitars?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=NDd5bHgxbnZ3MzJu

Nothing can be "too vintage" for me, that why I like it! I do play a vintage P bass with LaBella flats on though. Rob -

I think you'll love the Three10 Paul. The Elf is noticeably better through multiple speakers at 4ohms. I've not yet had to use it on a bigger gig, but I do have confidence that it would get me through a gig, any gig in fact. I have used it as the main amp in small rooms with a jazz band and a funk band, and in the huge cavernous space in Lancaster Priory. On the Priory gig it was DI'd, and the engineer was very happy with the DI it provided. Rob -
I wonder what the price was on each of the previous occasions? It's now £6k, which is quite a wedge up here in the frozen north. Rob

A B width neck too. I like that one.

My tiny rig has changed again. I'm a sucker for Barefaced cabs, and have been running their Three10 as my main gigging cab for quite a while now. So, I've picked up another BF One10 to use as my little cab. I'm also quite a big fan of of Gallien Krueger RB series heads from the 80's and 90's, so I've bought a GK Legacy 800. The One10 is 250w, but the GK is 400w into 8 ohms, so I will have to be careful. I'm still keeping the Elf head as a backup. Rob -
Have there been any sightings of these new amps in the wild yet? Asking for a friend.... Rob

Rob bought my Gallien Krueger 400RB-III. Nice chap to deal with. Recommended. Cheers, Rob

Paul bought my Elf 2x8 cab. Great comms throughout, no hassle at all. He’s a good egg. Rob

There's what looks to be a nice original '71/'72 Jazz for sale on Facebook, from a shop based in Belfast. If it checks out right, then I think the price is pretty keen too, it's less than I paid for my '73 anyway. https://www.facebook.com/JFKGuitars/ Rob

I'm letting this go finally, as my "little rig" is now a BF One10 and a GK Legacy, therefore it is now surplus to requirements. It's a fantastic little setup and has held its own in situations where it shouldn't have for something so small. These amps sound really great too, I mean very good indeed. The cabs are very capable and at 400w (8ohms) will take a standard Class D head without breaking a sweat. The amp is in excellent+ condition (no marks at all), in the original packaging and box, including the padded bag and mains lead. EDIT - The cab is now sold. The cab is very good+ condition, no issues, sounds great and comes with a fitted cover. Shipping is in addition, and would be £10 for the head and £20 for the cab (Parcelforce 24 insured). But happy for anyone to collect or meet up within a reasonable distance and time from Morecambe. Head alone - £180 Cab alone - £260 - SOLD Head & cab - £420 Rob Edit: I've sold the cab, and just sold my 2003 AVRI Jazz. I've reconsidered and will be keeping this amp as a backup

My local music shop have just posted on Facebook about it. Hiscox have written to them informing them of the closure.

Hi, Old Fender amps can tolerate an impedance mismatch very well. 100% either way is fine and you won't notice much difference in the way it performs. Depending on your volume requirements, you could swap the speaker for something modern and more efficient (and much lighter), but it's worth checking what's in there already. Personally, I would be looking at running the amp through a new cab. There are lots available now that would bring the best out of that amp. Rob

The bass player bought my MIJ PB-62 reissue when they came to play a gig in Morecambe. Nice chap.

Hi Dave, No it's the 3x10. Same height and width as a SuperTwin, but slightly shallower front to back, which is great as it slides under the boot cover in my estate car. I've heard the 6x10 in close quarters and they are great, but I can't imagine me ever needing something that big. The 3x10 has been just perfect in any setting so far. I've had the 12" BF cabs but I just don't get on with them in the same way I do their 10's. Rob

We had a lovely gig last night, in what must be a unique venue, The Heron Theatre, Beetham, Cumbria. It's a grade 2 listed building in a small village, run as a charity entirely by volunteers. It serves a large rural catchment around south Cumbria where there aren't really many other venues of its kind. It was sold out well in advance at £15 a ticket. Great people to work with, nice dressing room, free tea, coffee & beer! We ran our own PA but spent the time to get the sound right and it really did sound great in the room as well as on stage. The audience loved it and many of them told us so. They are booked up June 2026, but we'll get another date after that. Rob

I haven't tried enough amps to be certain there is a difference, but my main gigging amps are old school solid state affairs. If I carried on I would have to use the "H" word, so I won't. I'd like to try one of those some day. Rob

This is a new one on me. But, I've been through as many basses as I can be bothered to look at on Andy Baxter's site and I think I agree, but it got a bit hazy after so many. What did strike me though, was that if they did have the "step" or "notch" (we need to decide how to describe this), they had a full set of them. There are no examples on Andy Baxter's site of basses which have a mix of both styles.

It was good to meet you today. and the big surprise for me was how much I loved your Gibson Ripper! I've never played one before. Rob

Yes! It was indeed spendid. Thank you Rob for organising again. I regret not taking any pictures though! Does anyone have any pics? Rob
