I recently acquired this Am. Std. Jazz. For me you can't beat Olympic White, Maple Fretboard, and a Black Moto PG.
What a beauty!

Do love a Jazz. Every time I start thinking about getting something like an MM or a Warwick I always come back around to really wanting another Jazz 😂 Can't fight it any longer! 😩
The step daughters are both fans so I've seen them live a bunch of times and they've always been fantastic. Good musicianship, energetic performance and songs stacked with hooks. Don't forsee much of a future for them though. With only two full time band members left, I think it's "inevitable solo career" time for Hayley Williams.
From what I gather, the band being treated as a Hayley Williams solo career by both herself and Label/representatives is the main reason for most of them leaving, could be wrong though of course. Still, I really like their first couple of albums, not heard much of there more recent stuff. Saw them at reading a few years back and they were okay 😬 'Fences' is a personal favourite with a really nice walking style bass line 😬

Lovely looking bass , congrats 😬 -
I believe The bass tech for RB is Chris the frontman/bass player from 'The Zico Chain' who were an awesome three piece a few years back! Just Thought I'd share that as they are well worth a listen IMO

Enjoyed that, thanks for sharing
I love the b3.. however the more I used mine the less happy I was with the distortions/fuzzes and the octaver. Couldn't really fault it for all the other things though. the preamps are great I thought!
Im really impressed with the pre amps, I have 2 pretty decent distortion/fuzz pedals im pretty happy with so not worried about the overdrive side, however on first glance they seem quite cool anyway

Thanks all, i went for the b3 and expression pedal, ordered it about a month ago from a certain online music company but kept recieving emails saying it was out of stock finally had enough , cancelled and ordered from Thomann and it was delivered within 3 days. First hour tonight playing with it, im well impressed what an awesome bit of kit! Thanks for everyones help

Yeah thats pretty much my aim. Ive always been in rock bands where reading hasnt been an issue, so im aiming to get into an enviroment with some good musicians to push myself as a bass player. Glad your show went well 😁
-
Its inevitable i think that at some point i will end up owning one of these, they look brilliant basses
-
Thanks a lot, still making my way through the book and trying to make sure im getting into a routine for practicing properly as opposed to picking up my bass and jamming with myself. Sounds good, hope it goes well, what a really good song too 😁
Death Cab are incredibly good musicians. I loved seeing them again. They had a fantastic sound but that chastity belt look like they just met last week. I couldn't understand how Ben Gibbard was so gushing in his praise of them. Ok, be polite, but he thanked them loads of times and asked us to buy their album. They must be his nieces, cos they are rank rotten!
Yeah couldnt agree more, it was a little disappointing that theyve even been given the opportunity tbh, sounds horrible, but when theres so many good bands whod kill for a spot on that tour it seems a bit strange. yeah Ben did the same with us, overly enthused with an awful, awful band. each to their own i suppose. death cab made it all right by playing a blinding set once again though 😬
Let me know how you get on then mate
Death cab were fantastic as always. Chastity belt were truly awful 😂 £5 for a Guinness was also awful, but otherwise a great show 😁
I'm definitely more of a J man than a P man, currently have 5 J's compared to the 2 P's and my go to bass is my '69 Oly White:
That thing is stunning
I am quite a prolific gig goer and like to think I have a fairly eclectic taste. I was wondering who you all have seen lately and what they were like. I only ask because last night we went to see the excellent Death Cab For Cutie in Glasgows 02. They were superb as expected. The support however, were, at least to us, rank rotten. They are called Chastity Belt and if you look them up on YouTube, they are passable, though not particularly my taste. Live however, they are dire. No stage craft, out of tune playing and singing, bum notes etc. You name it, they were afflicted by it. I would even go as far as saying, they are the worst band I've ever seen live on a big stage. Maybe they had a bad night, but somehow I don't think so. Let us know your experiences good or bad of others, as a warning/ tip so that we might go fore armed to future gigs.
Im going to see death cab in Birmingham tomorrow night, chastity belt are also supporting, hopefully they were just having a bad night then 😂

Thanks all, went for Ed friedlands book and started it this evening, good stuff so far, im pretty much self taught and its really nice going back to the beginning with everything and going over technique aswell as starting to learn to read. Thanks for everyones help 😁

Ive always used Ashdown stuff and never had any problems so a +1 from me on them. Just to throw another one in the mix, ive got a friend who switched from A Trace rig to a TC electronic rig, seems to love it, Ive no experience with them personally but i do really like the look, something to consider? -
I saw a friends covers band the other night, not really a big classic rock fan but as id had a skin full i was pleased when they played this one purely because i knew the words 😂 The did a good job but unfortunately the bass player didnt learn/couldnt play the intro (the only half decent bass part of the song) Id have a listen and learn the intro if they insist on playing it

When i first started playing i was loaned an Axe for about 12 months by a friend of my dads, it belonged to who his brother who had moved away so he had no idea where hed got it from It looked exactly like the red one above and weighed a ton (not literally) Be interesting to see if anyone has any info as ive never been able to find out anything and it was 10 years ago! 😂
