1. I keep experimenting with ODs and distortions, but it's not something that I can seem to encompass into my palate of sounds, at least not in real life. I can hear the sounds in my head, but that doesn't seem to come out in reality. Consequently I've just using it as a kind of preamp, which I already use my Markbass Mini distortion for. I'm also now using an Eventide Space that has a distortion sound in it, maybe I can use that at some stage ? This is like new, it's maybe 3 weeks old, and complete with all the packaging and paraphernalia that came with it. I'd like £145 with includes special delivery postage. Photos to follow in the morning.
2.
That confirms it Don't remember the incident, but apologies for any offence
No , but thanks anyway
3.
Wasnt me was it ? If you dont reply then I'll take that as a yes and guess your ignoriing me for something I dont remember. Opinions are like arseholes, we all got one, but its usually safer to keep it out of sight.
No
4.
If that wasn't me I sympathise with you. If it was me, you won't be able to see this post!
It wasn't you I find your posts genuinely funny, this guy only thinks he's funny.
5.
Thanks all, Does anyone use Reverbnation as we're already on there?
I had a discussion with some friends a couple of weeks ago about Reverbnation. The overwhelming consensus was that it was extremely annoying and pretty useless. I left it a couple of years ago, after failing to get it to do what I wanted, I'm still getting emails from them now, asking if I know this band, or this artist.
6. Record and cd fairs are pretty good, especially if you like browsing.
7. The ultimate ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7s_DkTqPok
8. Everyone has on opinion, and is entitled to share it. However sometimes it may be best to keep it to yourself. People do have feelings after all. Just because someone makes a mistake, that shouldn't entitle someone else to use that mistake as a basis to criticise someone, or make fun of them. If you do share your opinion, and the result is that you upset someone, then you should be prepared to apologise for that. There's someone on here who I'm ignoring at the moment, he used an error of mine as the basis for a smart and sarcastic post. He obviously thought himself too clever to apologise.
9. Mine directs you to my bandcamp and soundcloud etc. Sell via bandcamp, it's free, easy to use and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. It's used by a lot of guys like Steve Lawson for example. You can sell merch on there as well as CDs and digital.
10. Have you heard of the band Rothko ? They were 2 sometimes 3 bassists. What I do here is solo bass, I've also done some with another bassist too, I'm always looking for collaborations, and playing in a band situation would be great, you're maybe a bit far away though. 11.
W150615 is born... ...available to pick up in two weeks time
I've never seen a 6 string Wal before, that looks amazing !
12. I used amazon, I don't remember paying anything extra. I'm buying something new soon, but I'm waiting a few days to see if the exchange rate drops in my favour.
13. Is the auto tune for effect ?
14.
Independent, Telegraph and Guardian seemed to love it...
The review I saw in the Guardian gave it 3 stars, that doesn't show much love to me.
15. Something I learned at uni was to play intervals through the scale, start with 3rd's, then 4th's, 5th's etc. That's a nice exercise.
16. I just ordered an Eventide Space pedal, so my trusty TC Flashback needs to go to help pay for it. It's just a couple of months old, and cosmetically (except for velcro) like new. £80 including next day special delivery.
17. Has anyone had a problem getting insurance because they are musicians ? When I was getting car insurance quotes last year, the prices were prohibitive when I said my profession was musician, but came right down when I said teacher.
18. Michael Manring. He has to be the most inventive and creative bassist/musicians in the last 25 years or so. He does play 'real bass' too.
19. This is an improvisation to a tape loop played on my Revox A77. https://soundcloud.com/an-ending-ascend/27062015a
20. I've tried a these a couple of times. They're great looking straps, but in my opinion badly thought out. Way, way too long, even the shortest ones. They're also quite slippery on your shoulder.
21. My single bass, and macbook are included with my mom and dad's house contents insurance, as an added extra. They are covered outside the house, that's usually why people have them. It didn't cost much extra to include them, but I had to provide all details, serial numbers etc. I also get insurance from the MU.
22. Looks a good idea. Maybe a bit shortsighted not doing a 6 string bass model though ?
23. Do you have backups for the backups ? Now that would be OCD 😁 Computer and recording stuff yes, anything else no. It'd be too much to carry around and store, and too expensive. I saw a photo on Peter Gabriel's Facebook page yesterday, he runs 3 backup hard drives whilst recording.
24.
Who need a record deal when you can just do it all yourself
Exactly 😁
25. Doesn't the Warwick Thumb have 26 fret ? I had a fretless Tom Clement 6 string last year that would have had 26 frets. My Modulus is amazing for playing harmonics, I think it's to do with the carbon fibre neck, I've heard that Status are good too.
