1.
it can be forwarded to Paypal as they like to monitor all this stuff....I think Paypal have a link somewhere for this.
Send it to [email protected] I think Paypal may also know how to spell the word 'tried' too.
2.
Ooops, that'll be me then...bastards turned me over for £1300 which I did get back from the bank but I did feel like a plonker and it could, otherwise, have been an expensive life lesson... As they say.."no fool like an old fool"..
Lots of people do. They can be very convincing. I think the main thing to look out for is how the email is addressed, a real email will address you by name. They will also never, ever ask for passwords.
3. I had a few from tescos bank around Christmas. Just deleted them straight away. I'm amazed that people do fall for these scams though.
4. I had to learn Frankenstein for an exam last year. That put me off him for life 😄. He is extremely talented, he was playing with Miles at 19 or something !
5.
though you do occasionally have to deal with some right weirdo's.
What have I bought from you on Gumtree ?
6.
Hmmm, interesting. The neckplate on my P dates to '72 but the pots are early '71 and neck is Feb '71. Couldn't find a clear dates on the PU's. Surely they wouldn't just have a neck floating around for nearly a year would they? or are neckplate dates fairly inaccurate?
I don't know, maybe ? Have you read the Fender bass book ? It's interesting.
7. Just found this. http://fenderbassplayer.com/properly-dating-a-fender-bass
8. I'm most definitely not an expert, but don't the body and neck have date stamps ? If so you could have a December neck and a January the following year body. What year would that bass then be ?
9. I prefer to use Gumtree. I sold a pair of Genelec monitors on there last weekend. Couldn't have been easier, the guy drove 130 miles to collect them. It may take slightly longer sometimes, though usually things sell within a couple of days. Just be sure to state cash on collection only. Best of all it's free. Musical stuff I advertise on here, but that's sometimes a bit hit and miss. It's also rather expensive. My annual selling subscription ran out, I couldn't afford £20 so had to pay £7 for one item. The £20 is reasonable, £7 for a one-off advert is expensive though. Facebook is a good place to sell too. I sold my Modulus Q6 via Facebook.
10. I don't get on with Jazz basses, but in the right hands they can sound amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuY4JP5TcTk
11.
Indeed.

I've only ever heard him in this context- plenty of palm muting and that pizz triplet pluck style thing that he has down so well. However I recently saw him online playing as a sideman with Gino Vannelli on his 2014 tour (an uber hero from my youth- his voice just gets better with age). It was really refreshing and bloody good! Garry- you'll love this https://youtu.be/rsiNHxIH7EY
Some nice videos there, thanks for sharing them.
12. Maybe they're not wanting to mess the shop around ? If they live somewhere, and the shop is 100 miles away, it'd be a bit awkward trying to sell privately too. Selling through the shop they don't need to worry about taking credit cards and shipping etc. It's something I was considering when I sold ,my Modulus before Christmas. I was going to use Bass direct, but ended up selling it privately through Facebook.
13. You do realise that MI5 are probably watching this thread 😊.
14. I emailed him last night. I always for sorry for people when they're caught out like he appears to have been. Personally I wouldn't ever buy anything like a vintage Fender. I remember that Bass direct got caught out a few years ago.
15. A friend of mine has just bought one of these. I've not played it, but apparently it's very good. It's a rebranded Stagg sold by PMT.
16. I'm still loving my shoebox sized, 75 watt, 2 x 4" PJB Double four combo. Horses for courses, as they say . It's perfect for my jazz gigs.
17. Great bassist and musician. Here's a really nice video with some superb playing and music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CKix__eaTU
18. I can't believe that the guy would part with that sort of money without doing some homework first. It took me 30 seconds to discover that Fender didn't start building instruments in Mexico until 1990. He's got it from the States judging by the price that he says he paid for it.
19. I'd vote for the Korg Pitch-black too, though I personally prefer clip-ons, but appreciate why you're after a pedal.
20. If you buy one, make sure that it's a 2 truss rod model.
21. The P model has piezos. I had one, and stupidly, stupidly, stupidly sold it. It was an amazing bass. 22 years old, but fantastic.
22.
Any idea what model these are? Ta
I just had a look at them, scratched on the back it says J1-B and J1-T and there's some numbers. http://www.bartolini.net/product/100g66j-b1t1/ They could I guess be custom for Roscoe ?
23.
Any idea what model these are? Ta
This is the advert for when the bass was bought. It mentions Bartolini JJ.
