If you have a decent meter then yes, you should be able to tell. The 4 ohm is actually slightly higher than 4 ohm, its actually a little over 5, as it is 3 sets of speakers in parallel giving:
1 / (1 / 8+8 + 1 / 8+8 + 1 / 8+8) = 1 / (3/16) = 5.333 ohms
if one speaker has blown that 8+8 bit would be failed, so that would be 8 ohms
Although the other way is just play a bass through it and see if only 4 cones move!
well tested the cab this morning and ohms wise we are 4.7 ohms so fingers crossed were all good and later today i can give it a try through the amp to make sure were all good.

Forgive my curiosity but where would you play that would need a 6x10 and a 2x12? That's a lot of driver area and only 100W to drive them.
Are you saying that the grille cloth on the 6x10 doesn't match that on the V4B?
think he means if he cant change the cloth he'll just use the 212 to match the head not both cabs

yeh im kinda hoping its just a gremlin in the old peavey, i guess it wont hurt an amp really as its getting lower in ohms so waiting for my LG1000 to show up on thursday, and then hopefully look at grabbing an abm around beginning of sep.

anyone know if i test ohms of the 610 ive just got if a speakers blown itll still show 4 ohms im guessing? trying to save pulling all the speakers for a 9v battery test

this is literally my dream bass! i've been waiting for a fender jaguar short scale for so long (they only had squiers), but it is quite expensive for a mexican bass
The short scale squiers are great tbh

Yeh, it would be two cabs with the same signal - if you want stereo / bi-amping you would presumably want two amps.
yeh thats cool just need something that can drive two cabs sometimes ideally as it save two heads

Bear in mind that the ABM1200 is around 50% heavier than the ABM600, and a fair bit bigger: it's quite a chunky monkey, and as @Woodinblack says it has two power sections. In other words if you have one cabinet it will sound identical to the ABM600, and probably even with two it wouldn't sound that much different.
Not really that bothered by the weight, I just like the flexibility of being able to run two cabs which it can still do I guess just not per side like I thought

ABM1200? It doesn't go to 2 ohms, its just to ABM600s power sections in the same box, each power section is the same as the ABM600s power section, and each has an output that can go down to 4 ohms.
my bad!

This is the right answer I think (assuming any price differential isn’t a problem).
You kick yourself for having not enough power but you’ll never kick yourself for having too much and having to turn down. (At least in my view!)
😁
wont be if my sodding gk would sell!!!!

Cici here!
Well, sadly I can’t help being a girl, and I have long hair because I like it. It has nothing to do with my playing, and I’ve never rested on my looks to gain followers, nor am I interested in anyone who does.
I take great pride in being the best musician I possibly can be, and it’s about the music for me.
I also dedicate a lot of my time to trying my best to help other people pick up the instrument, sharing any info I have, and seeing where I can push the instrument in my solo bass jams.
I’m not interested in being an ‘instagram girl’ so please don’t diminish me to that, and take the time to truly look at what I do (whether you like it or not is fine). Thank you.
great response Cici welcome to basschat!

I agree - better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!ABM600 - two nice efficient cabs (I’d go Barefeced but other cabs are available 😁) - and Robert is your father’s brother.
Don’t need cabs I’ve got a few Peavey 215’s so will be using them live but want a ok head I’m thinking the full 300w at 4 ohm might be ok…
