  1. so i bought a second NYC with a view to modding, i got a hint from a fellow bassist i know from instagram and decided on the Diode mod called Supa Tonebender which is removing the diodes D1 and D2. really happy with sound lets a bit more bass in and the circuit.

Next was a bit mad tho! i had a spare Damnation Audio Blooper (Bypass looper) and it was missing a knob and not selling so hey i thought why not! so its now hardwired inside and the jacks on the Muff are the in/out from the DA sounds killer

This is a massive non-issue. Not everyone is as experienced and knowledgeable as others. Where better to ask advice on pedals than on a (hopefully) friendly facebook group?

But is not advice, that I can understand if say there’s a lot of noise in your signal, ie advice on solving an issue makes sense, asking a question that’s more for google ie what power supply for my 9v 50ma pedal…. Isn’t advice or someone being a novice to me

Perhaps the person has googled but in the 20 million results there were dozens of different answers and they don't have the personal knowledge to know which is the right choice.

At some point we have all been that person. Far better to ask a group of people who have more personal experience than trusting a random search engine.

Being welcoming to people in a community is part of being in that community. Discussion is part of being in a community.

If someone has a problem with such questions perhaps that community is not for them.

There is little more off putting to new people than the 'elders' mocking a person for not knowing something. That sort of thing actively discourages the next generation and ends up killing the thing we love.

Either answer the question properly or scroll past and ignore it.

I’m mocking no one, and totally understand….when you first start out it can be daunting, but asking what is the best fuzz for doom here or on google you will get the same varied and random answer’s except here you will get certain bias.

im never rude and I do like to comment saying it’s always best to find your way and use this group to maybe narrow down between certain pedals.

Perhaps the folks there like the chat and interaction with others as much as finding answers to their questions.

The difference,  perhaps,  between looking something up in a book as opposed to asking your friends if they know the answer ? Same info, different vibe.

I can see that, I can but, then there are ways to start conversations like that?

If someone was to ask what’s you favourite fuzz for doom? That’s a much better question and will get you interaction than asking what’s the best fuzz for doom

The same could be said for this forum, lots of people looking for, and offering, advice on different things. Much of which has been asked before, several times. Not everyone has been engaged long enough to have seen it all before, it's not their fault. Just let it slide, it's not worth getting upset over.

I can see that for sure, but I do think here there is a much more open and accepting nature to those type of posts

also many here myself will normally have looked for an answer first elsewhere, or know that ppl will also have gone thru a similar issue.

  6. I’m obviously a member of many FB groups

many are fine however there are many who you can’t escape the standard weekly questions of

    “best overdrive for rock?”

    ”best Aby switch”

    and many more questions.

is it just me or do some simply use those pages as google?

might be an unpopular opinion tho? Same as when people ask about ohms and cabinets? I know you need to learn somewhere and that’s fine you can tell when someone is new to things. But again a simple search can give you the answer

Still using my Little Giant 1000 as my main amp, with a Superfly 500 as backup.

They both work well with my two Yamaha 2 X 10" 4 ohm cabs and although the cabs are rated at only 250 watts RMS each, I've never had any problems with the Little Giant overpowering the cabs, as there's plenty of volume on tap without needing to take things to extremes. I just use my ears😋

By the way, I've never witnessed the built-in cooling fan on the Little Giant running other than briefly at startup, so my solution to the legendary heat generated by both these amps and keep them reliable (so far) has been to place them on top of a laptop computer cooling pad.  The fans in the cooling pad are illuminated too, which looks pretty cool and I just power the cooling pad from an old phone charger.

    Same here with the fan

No, there’s no adjustment. The levels are either summed or averaged, I can’t remember which it is, I’d have to check. Levelling needs to be done in the pedals. Also, there are no phase options so you’ll need to be aware of that.

Despite that, it’s a brilliant device.

mc6 on the way, can use it to midi control my es5 for the special sounds i use in other banks and to navigate back to the main sounds

@Al Krow shortly after selling mine to you I changed bands and missed having it so bought anouther one brand new (I don't have the best business brain!).

I must admit, I have got pretty lazy with it lately so only have about eight presets, and three of them get 90% of the use ( 'Reggae', 'Punk', 'Ska' 'Clean') as that's what my band plays and it's easy to just go up/down between those presets. One tip is you can set the limit of presets that the unit scrolls through. I've got them sounding exactly how I want though so the fact I just leave them alone is probably testament to how good the unit is, I am probably underusing it.

I am a bit obsessed with buying/selling and trying out different pedals though so might sell the Core at some point to fund new things....it's likely I'd regret it shortly after though and end up buying another one!

mines of the board atm, but not going anywhere really useful to have a pedal that can basically do anything if i need it for a song while recording.

Oh dear, I agree that wasn't the best deal to sell something for a good price used to replace with a new unit! Still I'm not complaining, haha!

By coincidence I spotted that ability to set how many patches you cycle through on my SY-200 just a couple of days back, which is a very useful live feature that Boss clearly seem to have on all their newer multis? Saves me scrolling through 128 patches on the SY-200!

Midi control the sy200 from the Core the sy200 is amazing when you get the midi going.

That’s where the MC6 Pro comes in. Six buttons per page; each button can have multiple actions so could host access to different presets. 4 pages of buttons per bank.

Remember, it is also possible to assign PC up/down to controller buttons to have access to all presets. I have up/down programmed to two buttons and a double-press of the same two buttons to jump in tens.

can you control the levels of parallel paths? in the ml10, although being honest im wondering if simply adding a ml10 and mc6 to the current board to add the extra fs atm......

  11. 7 hours ago, Quatschmacher said:

    The ML10X has a ridiculous number of presets available: 128 x 4 x 8.

Sorry should have been more clear

want more than 5 fs available for presets on the switcher

They do look great - but definitely a luxury buy!

I imagine they'd be heavy even before being loaded with pedals. As someone who refuses to take a board any bigger than a Nano+ I doubt I'm their target market!

    Unless I suddenly get roadies!

they actually arent that bad, but yeh very pricey but i couldnt be happier.

if i didnt have my schmidt id still be using my pedaltrain pro with flight case, just bullet proof.

the boss stuff with inbuilt supply although convenient id always want to go with a seperate unit, for both reliablity and actual sound quality with being able to have isolated outputs.
