  1. i fell in love with the tone of an old Peavey 400 series mk3 head, now own a mk4 and one of the much older bass heads, all pretty similar in certain ways but i have them more for collection i can interchange them given how i feel.

however my main sound comes from my Rack pre amps which are before the amps An Ashdown ctm valve pre and Geddy 2112 tech 21 which i blend for either a fatter of more aggressive tone.

  2. from looking you need about 900 or so ma so you could try using a current doubler cable from voodoo labs and something like a strymon Ojai...........will give you 1000ma and the adaptor is nice and small the Ojai r300 is super slimline and has the iec plug aswell.

Nothing in the cable - the strings are serial encoded in the little box, and fed though a the TRS, which I am guessing also probably has power. So power / ground / signal.

yeh must be done with voltage but super keen to actually get my hands on a unit for sure

Interesting. I’m glad the GK system is still being developed. But why is there no 13 pin input on the unit, it looks like you need an external box to convert a GK signal to a 1/4” cable but surely that won’t carry the string by string information to be able to access the full potential of the GK pickup?

i pretty sure it does all the string by string stuff, some def magic going on in the trs cable they are using.

im very intrigued to see how it plays with a bass, obviously all the demos are going to be based on more out there sounds but i love the sy-200, and this is somewhere between the 1000 and that for sure.

I like the zoom stuff, can’t find anything about using them with midi though.

just seems its a simple database kinda thing to load new sounds in not so mush for use like midi, you might be easier going for a unit that can use midi like you want without hacking

Budget not an issue (cheaper the better of course), just looking for options and where to start.

the hx stomp or boss units are very popular the hx more so, cant say ive used any of the Zoom stuff. for me having access to all the boss effects is nice ( digital versions but basically they sound the same) space echo, dimmension chorus pitch, also the crazy routing options make it worth the little extra

    Off topic...

I've never understood why so many Mac users seem to be content having having the dock at it's enormous default size and positioned permanently at the bottom of the screen.

On all my Macs it is shrunk down to a size just big enough to make out the what the individual icons are and the applications I don't need on a daily basis or are easily accessible another way (like System Preferences) have been removed. Then on my desk top it is positioned vertically on the far right of the second display where it's not in the way of my actual work - especially as on wide screens where there is plenty of width, but vertical space is at a premium. On my laptop it is hidden and only appears when the pointer is moved to the bottom of this display - if I could find a way to hide it permanently I would.

Also consider the Source Audio EQ2, way superior to both in any possible way, in fact the most advanced equalizer in pedal form ever made, miles ahead of all other options on the market.

Tbh seems to have the same as the boss bar the tuner……..but a cool choice as it is smaller than the boss

Yeah I’m thinking it will be more useful as it goes down to 28hz and maybe this would replace my HPF and the MXR eq.

The ability to have 4 presets to scroll through would be good when changing basses or moving to a pick.

Just got this MXR new though. Nothing wrong with it at all and does the job while keeping quiet but just thinking the Boss might be better

Also the way you can change the eq range is very useful
