Back up the bus and talk to Alex if you don't believe me. What jollies you are getting from your BF210 and a 5er low B is all 60hz and up. If you pump it full of 30hz you will kill it. It will either turn it into heat or give it conniptions.

You should employ a proper high pass. Any PA you are likely to plug into will be highpassed 50hz or so anyway.

What everyone thinks of as "low bass" is an octave higher than its fundamental.

The problem is when you give a speaker a pumped up fundamental it distorts. That distortion is the first overtone. Your brain assembles that with the other pure harmonics as the tone of the fundamental. Similarly an 810 low E sounds like a low E, ain't no 40hz in it.

Also what amp is the op using? Need something with some power behind I’d to get the low out aswell

Ive been through a few drives and its a constant battle of trying to make incremental improvements vs giving into GAS. I agree with @0175westwood29 though that sometimes even if it's a perfectly good sound things can still get stagnant and it's nice to mix it up.

My favourite drive at the moment is the Halberd V2 by Electronic Audio Experiments. It feels odd describing a drive as "transparent" but even with gain and depth pushed it still sounds like your bass, just a gritty thick chewy version of it. Very versatile little pedal and sits great in the full band context.

For now I'm happy but I'm sure in a few months I'll be switching things up.

for me i switch out pedals that surround my main sounds, distortion being my Fuzzrocious Bongripper and my fuzz the blue colander dark emperor ( black big muff) low gain and extra fuzz are my other slots my low gain sways between fuzzrocious lil fella, dark driving and now lusithand gnp, fuzz is fuzzrocious heliotropic or coloursound bass fuzz

Next week.... Thoroughly chat with soundman! It's a short set so I might even print out the set list and let him know what bass FX will be used, or is that going too far and being all "ME ME ME!!!"?

i always have a little chat and also when soundchecking do make a point of going thru all my main sounds and give my loudest that way he knows its parts that may get louder or more bassy. but i alsways have to talk and try and blag three di's for my sub, synth and normal bass di anyway

  4. i find even a sound i love after a time will get old or in need of a freshen up.

ive had a few Darkglass and theres something it does with the mids i cant get on board with, i love a clanky tone but i prefer a rat based distortion, i def love using the damnation blenders to not just add in clean but help the lowend to allow basically any pedal on bass!

well I can confirm this setup doesn’t suck!!

need to test out with my board but atm bass straight into the 2112 uneffected out into the ctm pre. All three di go into the Behringer mixing them down into a single di

might fit a little mixer I. The back of the rack for a in ears mix of the lot. Or even save up for a two notes torpedo

no box but will come with next day delivery included in price £200

Thank you both, some food for thought as it were.

I've just purchased the C4 so not looking to move that on at the moment.

The HX Stomp does sound interesting though as does the Darkglass. I'll see if anyone else has any thoughts or other pedal suggestions to build something up.

all depends what your after sound wise i guess, the Boss 200 series are cool pedals aswell wth full midi control

Ah, that's not so good. I had the same issue with the BK7 when I tried it. Loved the videos but when I played it with a band it just sunk the bass into the back. Videos sounded lovely.

Can I ask, did you replace it with anything else and if so what did you pick? Just curious.

i liked it in videos but the DG thing just didnt work for me.

i currently have a blue colander black emperor, and lusithand ground n pound, aswell as my staple bongripper from fuzzrocious

  9. i wouldnt go as far as big red but if you want to you could replace the DG pedals with say the larger midi controlled Infinity? this also has a tuner....

sadly with the pedals you have said you have on the board only the C4 is actually midi so not really alot you can do currently.....

I have a question about the Infinity. I saw a review that stated the compressor only compressed the low end and not the high end. I know as standard on the DG Microtubes Ultra it only compresses the low end but if you hold down the bypass switch you can engage it to full band compression. Does the Inifinity have options to allow full band or low band, or are there no options?

honestly dont know, once i used the infinty in a band setup i just didnt dig it at all

Won’t they have thicker parts to go in tuner pegs and maybe be different tension than a 32” scale needs?

Do 32” need higher tension strings I’m unsure of the science.

never been an issue for me even on my 30" Jaguar, and tension wise they feel great in standard and drop d.

Ok, thank you. I have an OC-5 but it doesn't have a dry knob. The Sub n Up suggested earlier might do the trick.

Oc5 can do an oc2 just think of the direct dial as dry, set the switch to vintage turn the octave up off and -1 octave all the way up
