Hmmm around £2000 is not so bad, i was expecting it to be closer to £3k. I will keep an eye out for prices over the next few weeks.
indeed im thinking it will go up tho! although from what ive read its styled on the bass he uses so it maybe less due to that, rather than like the bootsy collins sig which he designed? andy
Of course it will be overpriced If it was a reasonable price it would probably get one, it has me interested in getting a chrome tone. ive seen somewhere that it was gonna be around 2000 which isnt so bad? the same spec streamer i think is more?
just saw this! amazing! but looks like warwick are gonna do there normal thing and price it so high i can't afford it! :-( might have to be a waiting game? then possibly a saving game! as it looks so awesome! andy
Seb, the Ampeg will help your Rick sound like a Rick! It allows my Status to sound like a Status, and, as you might expect, the Cort sounds like itself!
really cool, ive always known ampegs to colour a bit? i like this tho! but tbh that could be what ive used with the cabs? also the not known for there highs came from my orange more than anything, it had some but not the same as say ah 212 or 410. andy
Yeah I should have made it clearer. I'm looking for something smaller (as my my 4x10 is too big for the sort gigs I'm going at the moment) and with a different sound as my 4x10 is too ballsy, although that could be the fact it is Ashdown. I know they aren't known for their highs, more for lots of bass but how do they usually come across? I'd like to keep my Little Mark incase I have a gig where I need to jack up the volume and can borrow something from someone else! As long as I kept an eye on the master output, would it be alright? I was thinking how would the sound of the two go together?
got it man! ive played mine thru a 115 orange cab and it sounded cool, he markbass did actually bring some highs out of it. not played it thru an ampeg 15 so cant really help in that way but im guessing its gonna colour the sound a bit more so maybe lose a bit of the highs that i got with the orange? have you tried the ampeg 210av cabs im planning on using 2 of those and my lm2 for ah covers band that im joining? really light and small rig, but really punchy! andy
-
15's arent normally known for there high dude? just an idea why not get the ampeg combo? as for how the lm2 would work with the 15, i think your gonna be over powering the cab, the 15 is rated at 200w and the lm2 puts out 300w at 8 ohms? as you can see from my gear i have a lm2 also but i use it as a practice amp with an ampeg 210av, but thats fine and its rated the same as the 15 but i would like to put the master past 12o clock with it?. andy
-
im looking at getting a cross over so that i can use a guitar combo, and not have to worry about damaging it, thing is im thinking of still using one even if my dirty amp is a bass amp, to maybe try and stop the sound from being a bit much. im considering getting a second 210av cab and using my lm2 for the time being, im thinking if i only send it highs and mids, with distortion the 400/500w should be plenty to cut thru. what do people think of this would it do the job?
The bi-amp idea is the best with a suitable cross-over.
cross over? andy
I've tried it in the past with an old Selmer valve combo, and the transformer actually burnt out before the speakers did - basses need a lot of power at the bottom end (most of the power is in the fundamental, not spread across the audio spectrum), so basses drive the amps and speakers harder than a guitar would to get the volume. If you're talking guitar combos, the cabinet design is also often wrong - open-backed or sealed, rather than tuned and ported like a proper bass cab, so yuou lose bottom end power/projection too. The high tec solution to using a guitar amp with bass is to use it as part of a bi-amped rig with a crossover, so you're only using it for the high frequencies, and then using a good bass amp+cab for the low end rumble.
yep thats what im doing, im not looking to play thru it on its own. gonna use it as a dity rig with my 610hlf and aguilar db750 providing my low end. andy
The sound of angry bluebottles is coming your way if you try it. Not long after, the amp will pack up . So, I say don't do it.
i get its a frequency thing but your telling me rob just uses it till it breaks! im sure they'd stop it if every week of the tour they had to buy a new dual rectifier! do they put something the way? i wouldnt be pushing the lows at all really. andy
-
im still getting my dual rig together but im thinking bout grabbing a combo amp to give some edge to my tone. ill put the my effects thru it, and then i can put more bass into my aggie 610hlf rig. but ive been told not to try this as i'll just be wasting money? and replacing speakers all the time but rob from metallica has mesa dual rec's in his bass rig? and also so does the girl from clatter! andy
Exactly! Which is why you need to try them out yourself with your own bass, cables, amp etc!
Indeed this would be the answer its just a big pain! But may have to go for it Andy
Id check the Aguilars....they are fantastic. I mean no disrespect to Ampeg but they are a step up...you will really notice the difference!
how much of a difference is there? can't find any sound clips of a db750 being played thru an aggie cab apart from people randomly playing live, or a jazz guy noodling which would be wrong for me to judge the cab for my needs from. andy
The Neo range are slighty mid shy compared to thier proline cousins, bu I actually prefer that. The do a very good sold clean bottom end, but also handle a well tweeked EQ if you want to recreate your Ampeg clunk. I've used ALOT of cabs... And was an ampeg and Markbass player for quite some time. But EBS have taken the lead by a lon way for me these days... And they are spook light for the power they handle!
really ill have a look into them them i think, the only problem i can see is that they'll be to much dinero! andy
-
hey i know the manual says that the poweramp out can be used to run another 750, but could i run another preamp of it? for my dirty rig? andy
-
Ebs Neo 212. Awesome cab, uber light weight. Handles 600w. Tweeter if you need one... An there's one for sale on this forum if I'm not mistaken. I own one and it's bloody fantastic!
do the cabs so hi fi? if thats the right word? andy

hey guys! i have a aguliar db750 going thru a 610hlf. i love this rig! and dnt want to change the cab. but ive been offered a place in another band, and im think of getting a different cab setup for this gig. maybe a couple of 15's? so i can get a much different sound to my 610? or maybe a couple of 212's? and if im being honest for some of the bigger gigs my first band are going for it might be cool to have them all going thru my 750! or using them for my dirty rig when i finally get round to it!. im a ampeg cab lover! but the 15's only seem to take 200w! and weight a bit! theres the aguilar 115 and 212 which are about the same weight as the peg, but take 400w and 600w. although ive not played aguilar cabs? how do they sound? i know mesa do a nice 15 but thats a bit to much money! what would you guys go for? Andy
Ha - I see 0175westwood29 disagrees on 750 tone - he should know as he's had an Orange (I've only used them, 'never owned one). I suppose I should have indicated tnat it's important to try an Agi for yourself
you have to really tweak the setting but i got really close! may have something to do with my 610 maybe? but at high volume it can get gritty for sure. andy
