1.
Does anyone know what the standard radius is on the Elwwod, I can't seem to find it?
I believe all radius' are 14'
 2. Maruszcyck is another option, medium to small necks off the shelf but customisable very easily and cheaply
 3. If only this was active! Have a bump for a beauty of a bass!
 4.
I don't think there is much that fender can do really, they produce anything other than a pretty bog standard P or J in a range of colours and noone is interested. There are only so many reissues of reissues you can do. Having said that, I am still waiting for my flipflop purple / green J Bass!
If it ain't broke don't fix it.
 5. Best amp I used, but it was too big and cumbersome for the gigs I was doing! Absolute beast of a sound, but if you want break up from the valves I'd suggest the 100 with a great 8X10 will suffice, the 300 just had too much headroom most of the time!
 6.
Just seen that there's actually a reliced Sandberg in the sale section... shame it's 35" scale!
I know they're flavour of the month on here, and I myself am in the middle of speccing one, but Maruszcyck offer custom builds at very competitive prices and are virtually totally customisable. I'm speccing an active PJ 5 with a hum bucker/dual jazz coils in the bridge splittable with the single coil sound coming from a 70s position J coil!
 7.
I've been on both sides of this - tell you what, put on your own gigs, at your own expense (that's real money - yours, not mine) and see how it works out.....(& b r e a t h e )
Done that, and I was more successful than the promoters I'd previously worked with. It isn't easy but it isn't hard either. It's all about being organised and planning ahead. Sadly most "Promoters" don't understand their job fully.
 8. I've only got one at the moment, a MIM 2011 model - Alder body with maple cap neck. Electronics are KiOgon, pick up is currently stock - probably gonna be changed within the next month or so, and the strings are 18 month old TI flats, it is the best sounding and feeling bass I've ever owned. I want to get another one with a rosewood neck next and for this to go back to some nice rounds.
 9. Spent all of yesterday afternoon focusing on this one, that chucking technique really is hard to begin with, especially as you're skipping a string to play the 7th and the octave! But I'm getting there, I'm not at tempo yet but should be by later today!
 10. How long does Adrian take to respond to emails?
 11. Gotta tackle this for an upcoming audition, any advice on how to tackle it? Get a ball park tone etc.?
 12.
I'm sure that Pino is the bassist whenever the band is billed as the John Mayer Trio, with Steve Jordan on drums to complete the lineup.
You are correct. However Mayer uses Sean Hurley for his solo stuff both live, and in the studio currently
 13.
Pick the right pub with a quiet back area and could also take basses along to see what each other has/uses
Good idea! Nothing springs to mind instantly, but there's plenty about to do such a thing! I do believe we are already friends on Facebook, send me an inbox any time mate and we can arrange something a bit more
 14.
Yep, it'd be DeLa on the first two albums, Pino was drafted in for the trio and then Continuum and Battle Studies.
Speaking of the trio, they're back together in the studio right now! Mayer has always had some great bassists! Sean Hurley is a great player too!
 15.
I'm up for a pint and chatting bass too, let's all make an afternoon of it
Only just seen this mate, def up for meeting for bass chatting and beer drinking!
 16. Pretty certain the bass player on Mayer's earliest stuff was David LaBruyere, incidentally he also produced the early Mayer stuff
 17.
On my 'burst, it's a stacked humbucker. On the Oly, it's a switchable dual / single coil. In dual coil mode, it's fantastically poky...
Cheers for the info! A heavily custom version of your Oly setup might be in the works shortly...
 18. Michael out of interest, is the bridge pickup a single coil, or hum bucker? I'm interested in getting a 5 string PJ and have heard excellent stuff about these Maruszczyk's, I had been looking for a 5 string with soap bars or dual hum buckers, PJ seems to suit the sound I'm after more though.
 19.
Hi there James, Good advice there It does feel like I am a kid in a proverbial candy store. When I got my first bass all those years ago, I was only really into a couple of genres.
That's the sort of thing I've found with a lot of people, they know what they like and don't always go looking for new things. There's an absolute plethora of AMAZING bass heavy music out there, if you ever fancy grabbing a beer and chatting bass some more, drop me a message on here and I'm sure we can arrange something!
 20. Got about 5 CDs, 3 Snarky Puppy ones, D'Angelo, and Songs in the key of life. I got Chuck Shers improvisers bass method, and the Jazz Bass book
 21. Hello from another Pompey bass player! If you really want to prove it's not a fad, then learning stuff that makes you happy is the way to go!
 22.
I really want a Mr Tee
I want a Sputnik in redwood burl and a Jake to custom spec!
