1. Really? are they getting that expensive these days? i paid £150 for a full VM fretless jazz in almost new condition a little over a year ago. Sorry if i'm hijacking your sale by the way, feel free to tell me to delete my comments, i'm just trying to be constructive
2. That's a lot of money for a neck when you could buy the complete bass (used) for not a great deal more, just saying...
3.
Think the post part is holding you back. Would you meet a courier someone else arranged, and pack it and stuff?
Yeah i know, it's just a pain, and I'm not exactly in the most accessible part of the country either. If someone else wanted to arrange and pay for a courier and pay for packaging materials (wouldn't be cheap) then sure, I just don't like the idea of posting a valve amp...
4. For sale is an ashdown peacemaker 20 guitar amp. For sale as I need the money really. It's a decent little bluesy/soft rock amp, fairly loud, but not too hard to overdrive at lower volumes. 20W RMS, full valve, clean and overdrive channels and what i think is a spring reverb (but don't quote me on that). no longer for sale I don't have any photos of it at the moment, but if anybody wants pictures, let me know. In the mean time, here is a photo of the same amp, it's in good nick so looks exactly the same.
5.
Not really that pointy, but worth a mention.....
BUT, sexy as hell!
6. that's a pretty cool looking studio! here's my latest little setup:
7. I've owned a single H and an HH (granted the single H was a SUB, but it's essentially the same beast). The HH did provide a lot more tonal combos than the SUB did, the neck pickup sounded more precisiony than you could get from the SUB, but a little bit on the deep side, i'd say HS for the best of both worlds, just so that the neck pickup isn't too overpowering. The HH or HS only gets in the way of slapping if you have poor technique.
8. holy thread revival batman! That's a gorgeous sabre by the way
9. I'd say a stingray HH, the one I had was good for pretty much any sound, except that balls out warwick growl, which is what i was really after!
10. This was my old bass, I kind of miss it npot sure what's going on with the bridge saddles there, i may have changed the intonation as i did experiment with some weird string guages... But it's a lovely bass, treat her well!
11. Fair play, good luck with the sale anyway, looks like a nice bass
12.
Thanks for pointing that out :-)
I'm not sure if that was a slightly sarcastic remark or not, but I'm just saying, it can take a little while to shift them, try and be patient. If you get rid of it on here, you'll probably be better off than doing it on ebay.
13. ohhhhh i want! I may have to give you a shout in a week or two if/when i have some money!
14.
Microphonic valve. Tap them with a chopstick when it is on. Is most noticeable if it is one early in the signal path, as there is more gain afterward, so if you have no spares, can do some swapping to lessen the problem.
cheers, i'll give that a try
15. Hmm possibly, i'm not entirely sure if it's spring reverb or not EDIT: yeah i think it is
16. I know it's not a bass amp, but I thought you tech-heads might know. I bought a little 20W ashdown valve combo used from a local music shop a couple of months ago, and today it's started making a little rattling sound when playing, or if i tap the amp lightly... It's pretty irritating, and it's coming out in recordings as well. It only makes the sound when the amp is on, not on standby or when it's off. Any ideas? I thought it might be a loose valve or something, but seeing as it doesn't happen when it's off, it may not be? EDIT: sorry i just realised this should probably be in technical issues, feel free to move it, mods.
