1. Sorry...I've got a couple of people interested in the whole rig and that's the easiest solution for me. If the interest comes to naught I might be interested in doing a swap for the cabs and selling the amp on its own - but I'd really prefer to get the cash if I can just to smooth out a minor cash flow problem.... @BigEvilMan - I'll PM you about the swap if I the offers fall through and I decide to do a swap - but at the moment I'd prefer to hang tight and see if the sale goes through
2. Hmmmm, tempting - but at 27kilos it's the same as my 410 so doesn't really solve the problem back wise..... So, no....SOZ
3. The back's playing up so I've had to downsize my gear. Although the TC Electronics stuff is pretty light, it's still too much for my back to get a 410 up and down from the third floor bedroom so.... Selling a BH500 head (perfect working order, excellent condition), a BC410 cab (ditto - a few scuff marks where cabs have been stacked but no rips or tears) and a BC212 cab (ditto with similar scuffs). The head and 212 have Roqsolid covers (black with red piping) that are in excellent condition and the 410 has an unbranded vinyl/leatherette cover that has a few scuffs but no rips or tears anywhere. I'll try and upload pics in the next day or so. This is a phenomenal rig - I use the 212 for rehearsal and small pubs, the 410 on it's own for larger spaces and, once, used them both for outdoors. They hold their own against two guitarists and an over-excited drummer with no problem. I've never need to push the volume beyond 1 o'clock on the dial and for most pub gigs, the volume's perfect just under half way. There are lots of pics, specs and reviews on the web so I won't repeat any here other than to say that the design/ease of use of this amp is brilliant. And the tubetone feature best of all. You can dial in a bit (or a lot!) of distortion at the turn of a dial or have it set up on the presets and switch easily between numbers. For a covers band like ours where I'm having to move quickly between different tones, it's a fantastic feature. I've had the set up for about 12 months and loved it - it sounds fantastic with my Jazz bass. It's been gigged maybe a dozen times in that period and as many rehearsals. Any questions, please ask. I'm based just north of Peterborough and suggest collection on a try-before-you-buy basis or I'm happy to deliver/meet within a reasonable distance. Someone's bound to ask and no, I'd rather not split - that said, if someone wants just the head and one cab, that's fine but I'm not ready to sell either of the cabs independently until the head's sold. Soz. Price is £600 ono including speaker leads and mains leads (not sure where the manuals are or if I still have them owing to an over-enthusiastic clear-out by the missus. I'll try and find them but can't guarantee I'll be able to lay hands on them!!).
4. Where are you based?
5. Pretty much as the title says - I'm bassed (geddit?) in South Lincs with own gear and transport. I've been gigging regularly over the last year and I'm now looking to broaden my horizons working with other bands either on a permanent basis or as a stand-in. My own musical tastes are broad and I'll play pretty much anything - I've found that I can learn a huge amount just by playing genres that I wouldn't normally listen to. I try to be sensitive to the music and to the band I'm playing with (keep it sparse if there's two or more guitars and/or keys, add a little bit more if there are fewer instruments) and although my reading skills are still basic, I have a good grounding in musical theory and harmony. I don't really do flash, but I play in tune and in time. I love playing to people and I'm conscious that I'm being paid to do something I enjoy so that means having a professional attitude - turn up on time, know the material, get on well with everyone, help lug the gear in and out and get a round in when it's your turn....
6.
Howdy folks, I got one of these about a week ago and i was loving it through the headphones. Really loving it but when i took it to my practice room and got it through my amp i am having difficulty getting any sounds that are even close to the headphone sounds. All the amp models sound really similar as do the dist and OD's. I had my amp , Peavey TKO with black widow speaker set flat to begin with. Any useful advice on setting up patches with regard to the pedal or amps in general?
Just a thought.... Turn any cab emulation off if you're sending the ouptut to an amp. Got to run now but I'll have a think tomorrow and see if there's anything else that might help
7. Jase Excellent news - seems like not all MIDI/USB leads are the same then..... Happy patching!
8.
Have you tried wrapping some hairy string around the screw?
Good thought but the Araldite fix worked nicely
9.
HOLD ON! Is it the strap bolt, or the sleeve in the wood that is loose? On current production RIC basses, the strap bolt is screwed into a sleeve, and can be unscrewed so it can be withdrawn and strap locks fitted. If it is just the bolt, contact RIC customer service, tell them the strap bolt is loose, and see if they will exchange with you. If it is the sleeve that is loose in the wood, then you do have a much more significant issue, which a good luthier will need to look at to determine the appropriate remedy or repair.
It's definitely the screw that's loose(bit like me...). Araldite has sorted it - thanks for the input guys!
10. Mike bought my Gibson SG bass. Clandestine meeting in the car park at the services - must have looked really dodgy on the CCTV!! He's a really nice guy, a pleasure to do business with and I whole-heartedly recommend him as someone you can deal with with confidence. Thanks Mike, hope you made it home OK!! Enjoy the SG
11.
I've just aquired one same as this but in Chrome Red, very very nice, the rolled edges on the neck are to die for !
I like that.....
12. And finally, here's the pic!! Doesn't really do it justice - at least the picture doesn't show where I've been licking it.....hmmmmm
13.
Happiness is a warm P.
That reminds me of the old gag... Playing a decent bass set in a 2-guitar band is like wetting yourself in dark trousers. You get a really warm feeling but no-one else notices....
14. I tried cocktail sticks and no joy. The dowel solution seems like the best with Araldite applied to the screw when it's inserted. I think I'll drill a little pilot hole for the screw though just to try and avoid any splits. Thanks all!
15.
It just that, generally, most people seem to be having problems with these leads running on Windows 7 rather than XP, so I'm entertaining the idea that it might not be the lead that's the problem... Cheers, Jase
Mine's running under Windows 7 and is fine. It might be the sequence of events that's the issue - Barkin seems to have it nailed....
16. I'd post a pic but the bleedin' phone won't sync with the 'pooter....it was in the For Sale section so the pics will be there if I can find the link. It's still lovely.
17. Thanks.... We're booked up pretty solid for the rest of the year so there'll be plenty of opportunities to come and listen to my roots-and-fifths style!
18. I have a 2010 Ric 4003 which has the standard factory-fitted Schaller straplocks. The one on the horn keeps working loose - I need to tighten it mid-gig after every third song or so and am now so paranoid about it that I check it constantly whenever I can spare a hand. I've tried putting some glue on the thread but that's made no difference and I've retightened it as much as I dare but the problem keeps recurring. I don't want to overtighten in case I overdo it and split the wood. I've also tried the old "matchstick-in-the-hole-to-act-as-filler" trick but that's done nothing either. I think the problem is that the strap comes out from the strap lock at an angle to go over my shoulder and that effectively causes the strap half of the locking system to "grip" the button part. Possibly.... Anyway, anyone else had the same issues? Any suggestions?
19. We're playing our first gig of 2013 on Friday at the Cock Inn (no sniggering at the back there), Werrington, Peterborough. Classic pub-rock - all the usual covers - decent guitarist and a very good singer (but we don't tell him that - he's got a big enough ego as it is ) Please don't come. I get all shy when there are other bass players watching....
20. I just bought Iconic's 2009 MIM P bass. He chucked in a set of flats which I fitted this evening. It's my first Precision. and.... Ohmygodohmygodohmygod! I love it. Sorry, I just needed to share. The wife, wonderful as she is, doesn't understand and I just had to tell somebody or I'd burst.... thank you for understanding
21. I sold my Squier Jazz fretless and have regretted it ever since. Awesome. Weighed a ton, mind. But sounded lovely
22.
Thanks for the quick reply guys! Yeah, a few people seem to have had the same problem, but they haven't said whether they sorted it out or just gave up! From having a play with the software, it looks like it'll be much easier to create patches than using the B9 itself, and it definitely looks like you can backup patches. Yeah, done all that so I'm not being a complete duffer then! I guess it must be the lead. I saw that you've got it working with the Uno but was a bit concerned that my PC is still in the dark ages running XP, though just had a look at the M Audio website, and don't think this'll be a problem... And yes, when I get it working, I think it will be much cooler! Cheers, Jase
Good luck - let us know how you get on!
23.
Next to try - running the Librarian software under Wine...
Pretty much all the computer disasters I've had in a twenty year career have been while running under Wine (me, that is, not the computer)....

I just bought Richard's P-bass (MIM Lake Placid Blue) - beautiful bass, exactly as described. Really helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Buy with confidence! Many thanks, Richard!
