1. I bought this last year from a fellow BCer intending to use it as my main gigging amp and keep my Shuttle 6 for backup. As it turned out, I carried on using the littl'un for gigs and used this one as the backup. So the arrival of a new all-tube amp means that I need to move this one on. I'm not going to go into the specs - they're easily found on't InterWeb. The amp is in excellent condition, it all works beauifully, all 1200 of the watts are present and correct and sounding lovely. It comes complete with the footswitch and gig bag which is in decent nick apart from the handle where the stitching has started to go and it's been repaired with (you guessed it!) gaffa tape. I'd prefer not to post so collection is preferred - I'm in Hertfordshire (Hemel Hempstead) for anyone that wants to come round and try it - or I can meet somewhere by arrangement. Edited: I've now sorted out a lightweight 410 so just looking for a straight sale at the moment. Reduced to £425 Any questions, please drop me a note. Thanks for looking, here's a few pics (please note, the Berg 112 in the pictures is not for sale!)
2. Price or Trade Value : £1200 Just a feeler at the moment for my absolutely beautiful Fender Select Active Jazz. It's the 2013 model and I've copied the technical specs below. I bought the bass brand new in 2013 and have gigged it just twice- apart from that it's never been played outside the house. It's in immaculate condition - I cannot see a mark on it anywhere. Edit: I've just given the bass a good look over again and spotted a tiny ding on the bottom bout. I'll try and add another photo if I can but it's hard to even capture it with the camera. It comes with a Fender Select logo'd G&G vintage tweed case (and all the case candy) which is in equally good condition - the bass lives in a cheapo Kinsman case and the G&G case lives in its dust cover up in the spare room. Yes, I know. I am that sad..... It's a beautiful thing to play and I love the flexibility of the active/passive electrics and in an ideal world I'd keep it just for the looks. But I don't use it anywhere near as much as a bass this beautiful deserves, so it has to go. I won't post, sorry, so it's collection only from North London (okay, Hemel Hempstead area) - or I'm happy to arrange a meet somewhere within reason. Anyone collecting gets chance to have a go first and the kettle's always on.... Now sorted for a 410 cab so not really looking for trades at the moment, thanks. Any more questions, please drop me a note. Thanks for looking! 3. Interesting - thanks! I'm probably going to focus on the V4B and the 212 cab - got a trip up to Yorkshire in a week or so and will try and get over to Gear4Music to try one out. The forums are full of mixed reports on reliability - it seems to be improving and I wonder how many of the issues are down to a lack of familiarity with all-valve amps. Still more research to do before I pull the trigger but the first job is to try one out and see if it gives me the sound I want. I did follow the suggestion of getting in touch with Polar. Response was pretty prompt although it consisted of pointing me at the stockist page on their web site. Anyone who's used a V4B - all feedback welcomed!
4. Brilliant idea, thanks. I'll call them Tuesday. At the very least they should know who's had stock....
5. Thanks guys, I'll see if the missus fancies a run out to Clapham this weekend. As background to the question... I really fancy an Ampeg SVT CL, but I'm not sure that I'll drive one hard enough to get that nice, thick creamy power amp overdriven tone at a small-pub-sensible volume. So the obvious choice seems to be a 100w V4B running into a 212 cab. My only concern there is how easy it will be to bias the tubes. It's pretty simple on the CL and VR (two LEDs and a couple of handily-placed adjustment screws) but looks a royal pain on the V4B, requiring you to get inside the amp and measure the voltages with a multimeter and test rig. So I guess I have two options. Get the V4B which on paper appears to be the perfect amp, and live with any tube issues once every 18 months or so. Or get a CL which isn't a lot more money, has a lot more power and is a lot more convenient to maintain and service - but will I get the thick Ampeg tone I'm after at a volume that won't set off car alarms in neighbouring villages and with a cab that I can carry without needing a removal van? Hence I need to try a couple for real and see. In an ideal world, the CL will give me the tone I want at a sensible volume into a 212 and that's the problem solved. Does anyone run a CL like that/ can offer any experience?
6. Both good options but neither are showing any stock in at the moment. All of BG's Ampeg stock as shown as "available to order" and WGC aren't listing any Ampeg gear at all.... Do any of the shops in Denmark St hold Ampeg stuff?
7. I've got a serious attack of GAS, looking for a tube amp to go with my '82 P bass. Can anyone point me at an Ampeg dealer in the South East (North/West London) area who holds a decent range in stock for me to try? Thanks in advance....
8. Just bought Dan's 1982 P bass. In immaculate condition and better than described and at a fair price. It looks, feels and plays beautifully. Dan's a great guy to deal with. Good comms, nothing was too much trouble when I came to try it out and there was even a brew on offer while I played to my heart's content. Very pleased and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Thanks Dan, the Little blonde beauty gets her first airing on Saturday...
9. Callum just bought my Stagg EUB off me and it was an easy, pleasant and simple transaction. Comms were excellent throughout and he trogged all the way from East London to come and try/buy. A really nice chap and a pleasure to deal with. Thanks for the purchase, Callum and I hope you enjoy the Stagg
10. Still got it, thanks Chris. Doesn't get as much use as it should but every time I do pick it up I wonder why I don't play it more :-) And I notice these Staggs are like buses - another one's turned up on here alongside mine. Honestly, you wait ages.....
11. I bought this earlier in the year from another BCer with every intention of learning to play the upright bass. Unfortunately, like so many of my other plans (write the novel, learn mandarin, fly a plane, win the lottery....) this one lost out to my basic idleness. Ho hum. So now I've decided to sell it. As you can see from the pictures, it's a Stagg electric upright in excellent condition. Comes with stand and gig bag. Not sure what else to tell you. The electrics all work nicely, the condition is good, it has all it's bits and the case is in very good condition with a soft lining and accessory pockets for the rests, and other bits and pieces. I'm in Hemel Hempstead (working in Rickmansworth during the week). Collection only (or can meet within reasonable distance). Please PM for details or if you have any questions. Not looking for trades, cash sale only, sorry. Now reduced to £250.
12. Really nice guy, just bought my Sei bass. Easy to deal with and, from what I heard when he tried it out, annoyingly talented. Top man, many thanks!
13.
That was my question, how skinny is she?
She came up about 10lbs on my (not digital) luggage scale.... Not anorexic, but not a bloater either
14. Now reduced to £1300. Last price drop before it goes to eBay
15. Still here. Can't believe there's no love for the Sei....
16. If you have a potential trade, please PM me with details. What it is, what you think it's worth, age, condition etc - and a photo if poss. As mentioned previously, I'm particularly interested in lightweight cabinets... Oh, and....... Bump
17. Going away for the weekend but still answering pm's... Bump
