1. When I first heard Steve Harris playing on one of my parents old Maiden records (cannot for the life of me remember which though!) when I was about 10 years old, I knew I wanted to play bass, it just resonated with me for some unknown reason (even though I had no clue what a bass guitar was at that time). After convincing my parents to buy me a bass for christmas not long after that moment, my journey began. Still don't like Precisions though for some reason haha!
2. Vocals - Russell Allen Guitar - Tony McAlpine Keyboards - Derek Sherinian Drums - Vinnie Paul
3. Started on guitar, but borrowed a bass from a friend to have a go... Been hooked since really. For nearly 14 years, the low end has been my mistress and I wouldn't change a thing. Still dabble on acoustic now and again, open mics and stuff like that, but my heart beats for bass.
4. Where I'm based (excuse the obvious pun to begin with), in Llanelli/Carmarthenshire area in South Wales, theres a LOT of guitarists and bassists, but very few drummers available. Have been tempted to try and learn drums as a backup plan, but I always return to bass (or guitar if desperate) I'm guessing its different situations around the country though. Had a fantastic drummer for one of my stoner/doom metal bands, but as he and his wife have just had their first child, he stepped down a few weeks ago - completely fair enough tbh as its a stressful time (as many folks on here know!)
5. Ahh I know the feeling buddy! My main band had been on hiatus for a couple of months (drummer and singer had, well, I'll say some differing opinions.) So during that time I started depping for a friends band (usual pub covers). Today, had a full rehearsal with the main band and it just felt like we'd played together yesterday! Tis a good feeling indeed! All the best mate, hope it continues to feel good! Mark
6. Stunning bass (believe I saw it on ye olde FB yesterday too!) Watch the bumps though dude, think its 36hours between each one now, or the ad may get pulled ;-) Mark J
7. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
8. Theres a thread in the main bass gear forum for dating Fenders matey.
9. I've just noticed its from the same area, I've sent the seller a message now. Can you remove this post if possible? (Laptop just died, posting this message from my phone) This has confused me to no end! Sorry
10. Yeah, I've got some pics of the build process on an old laptop. That is pretty strange, as I honestly haven't got this advertised anywhere else. I'll remove it until I can find out whats going on. Thanks!!!
11. Ahh fair one! Lol, this ones a mishmash of a couple of old basses, didn't know it would end up looking the same as a stock instrument. Cheers! =)
12. Ahh mate, if only I had the cash.. My first 6 string was a Shine, and it was so easy to play it was unbelievable!! Think they were made at the same factory as some of the lower end (but not basic) Ibanez's and Epiphones in Korea.. But don't quote me on that! Anyway, friendly bump for a fine instrument!! =)
13. Can see some pics here - http://s1059.photobucket.com/albums/t428/MarkJenkinsBass/Fender%20Precision%20MIM/
14. Hey, from one new member to another - Welcome!
15. Recently received this bass through a trade, gigged it once but its not really my type of bass. Near-mint condition, only some light scratching to the rear neck plate. Set up and re-strung with Fender nickel wound steels, low action and beautifully balanced. Unable to post pics until I can get to a working computer, but more than happy to e-mail detailed pictures via my phone. Looking for £275 ono, or trade - WHYG? Any questions/enquirys just PM me and I'll reply asap. Same for people wanting pics - let me know what exactly you want to see and I'll do my best. Collection prefered as I don't drive, but I may be able to deliver for a nominal fee to cover train/bus/friends petrol tank costs (no couriers unfortunately, had a few very bad encounters over the years which has eroded my trust in them!) Cheers, Mark.
16. Fair play, these basses are stunning to play, the pickups really sing! If I'd seen this before today, I'd have made an offer instead of buying another P bass!
17.
Best five strings ever the fortress is.
Definately agree with you there buddy, she's never let me down yet
18. Bump. Price dropped to £250, still open to trades. PM me for pics via email
19. Indeed, theres a great deal of musical talent in this town.. Its a shame not many people go to local gigs anymore though! I try to go to as many as I possibly can (not counting the gigs I do with my band, or filling in for other bands/groups) just to learn, meet people and see some great talents! All worth it the end really!
20. Laptop is officially dead, so can't upload pics until its fixed/replaced. More than happy to email pics via my phone for anyone interested however. Mark
21.
Very cool! Used to have one years ago and loved it. Don't be put off by the Korn connotations. It's a great bass in it's own right! Excellent Ibanez build quality, flexible pre and a nice slim (but not too much) neck. Truckstop
Definately agree with you there, its a lovely plank! Shame I don't have cash at the moment, got a serious case of GAS!!
