  1. What are Jon's waiting times at the moment?
  2. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1GNdAeRfSq/ I really liked this post I found. The keyboard layout and static root/tonic approach makes so much sense.
  3. Also, I sold a bass last week that was very heavily modified. The buyer said that it was exactly what he would have done if he'd bought the bass unmodified. He was absolutely over the moon. We had good chat and he was a gent and now he has a bass that he's very happy with. I can make massive sweeping generalisations too if required, so if you need me to attack anyone putting a J Retro or a Tusq nut on a J&D J bass, please let me know, I'd be happy to...
  4. I did it last week and it got rapturous applause by all those that beholded the vision. I'm not saying it's right but it made quite a lot of folk people happy and when all is said and done, that's why we're here. Each to their own.
  5. Not having a spare PP3 battery on the gig.
  6. To, all those Basschatters that still have two kidneys (a small audience, I know), I have an extensive list of contacts that might (or might not) be able to help you acquire this Fabergé egg of an amp 😉
  7. After playing for a while, it just makes sense. I've switched back and forth between a 34" with D'Addario 45,65,80,100 and it's a world of difference.
  8. I've done it! I used the D'Addario set with a .145 B on my BBP35. I'm completely converted. The B is a revelation, it's huge. The E is lovely too. I wound the P pickup back a bit to give the string some room and it sounds so clear. Brilliant. Very happy.
  9. Fab set of Yamaha NS8 clones by Studio Spares. Fully functional. Very decent quality and these used to get very good reviews back before G4M took over SS. You’ll need one of your own kettle leads, I can’t find one of them. Probably repurposed. Anyway, they're good bits of kit, they're cheap, they're collection only from Gloucester. Or I can drive to deliver up to 25 miles each way for a tenner of diesel.
  10. Can I get a reverse-wound frappachino with a 0.96 delrin plectrum with soy milk that leverages the stickiness all across the piece to ringfence the low-hanging fruit in the red ocean that gives us a steer going forward enabling the blue sky thinking? P or J? What's your vibe?
  11. Set off wonderful Nord J Blades. Postage extra. Probably £5.
  12. I had one (In white. Antarctica camo) and gigged it lots, it's your usual Japanese quality awesomeness. This seems like a very good price for such a great bass.
  13. These just arrived. I'll probably add the .145 and get them on tomorrow.
  14. This one goes as dirty as... ... although it's white and spotless... The case was made by Geoff at Matamp.
  15. What are the other bits? Cabs?
  16. @Beedster breathe easy, bro. I've got too many moving pieces with the house and stuff right now but if it's still here in April... Go on, you know you want to and I am a firm believer that these things need owners that have that Mesa vibe and you do 😉
  17. It's like the Ark of the Covenant and The Holy Grail in one. It's like an Audi Sport Quattro and an F40. Absolute alpha apex predator amongst all big heads. 😍
  18. That's a bargain.
  19. I agree. I'd be looking for Ashdown, Hartke and Trace Elliot used gear. Good kit, repairable (if it goes wrong) and you'll get all your money back selling it on in the future. £250 should get you something robust and very giggable that will last years. £250 shipped for a new amp is £50 of VAT, £50 of retail/distribution costs, shipping to you. It's not a lot of product. It's pennies components plus labour and some profit.
  20. Sean

    Rush.

Great band. Have a look at R30 Live. It's so uplifting. I was lucky enough to see them twice on that tour and it was those two shows that converted me.
  21. I don't fully understand the question. I'm sure I'm not alone. I worked in a FTSE100 corporate for 30 years and "impacts on" is like corporate-speak. I don't get it but I am "on the spectrum" as they like to say. "Around" seems to have replaced most other prepositions too and has made it very difficult to understand a lot of what's being said. Imagine you were posting 20 years ago, what would the post say? Thanks for your understanding.
  22. This has to be worth a go. Thank you.
  23. I bought a D'addario .135 and a .145 recently. This is for my 34" Yam BBP35. I used a set of Legacy 45, 65, 85, 105 and added the .135 and it's really good but it got me thinking about how I could refine it more. One band I play in does a lot of songs in drop B and I'm on the B string much more than say, what I was in a function band playing a 5 string where there's songs in Eb, the odd low D and hammering a low C makes the crescendo more dramatic. My SRMS805 35.5" B is fab but I'd like to have a similar punch with the Yam. What did you put the 42/55/75/100/135 on?
  24. This is a revelation for me, thanks for posting. What bass have you put these on? What's the scale? Thanks.
