  1. If you have bunce the current Markbass crop are so light you have to put a beer glass on top to stop them floating away. 15Kg for a 4x10!
  2. Yeah thanks. Its been there ages. I gave up trying to pin the vendor down on when we could meet up.
  3. Hmm, that makes sense. I didn't look for the clipping light (it being bright sunlight, like). Reading Alex' email again he says I could be clipping. So maybe my answer is to be careful with the gain and thrown the master wide open.
  4. @AcebassmusicAt practice room volumes since it sounds fine. Alex has just come back and said I've not got enough output happening. Is that the same as you saying I'm overcranking the gain, and got the master volume turned down too low? I remember once Dave Green at Ashdown telling me gain should be whacked wide open, and only use the master ouptput volume to control volume.
  5. Played a three hour ouside gig yesterday in the heatwave . My band's loud so I had had gain on 1 o'clock and master set to around 2 on my Markbass LM3. My 4 ohm BF Two 10 kept farting. Could it have been heat? Or do I even more totally not understand these things more than I thought?
  6. If it flies, floats or f- , rent it don't buy it
  7. By all accounts these are fab cabs. But having successfully tottered round various venues at the Dereham Blues Fest last week carrying my BF 210, head, bass, bag of cables, etc. I have realised with full force the virtue of ultra-lightweight cabs.
  8. I get this from Bass Direct running Malwarebytes amd Bitdefender over Win 10 and Firefox. It doesn't just warn me, it refuses me access. I could force access, but what's the point of having an AV if you ignore it?
  9. Anyone else getting a disproportionate number of anti-virus or malware alerts from popular bass websites? The worst is BassDirect, which my app insists has a Trojan embedded in the site and won't let me on. I've contacted the owner twice but he says it must be my AV, and anyway he's think of updating the site. So I paddled off to Strings Direct to do my business there only to receive a lesser alert about some issue there too.
  10. I just sold two saxes on commission through Stoke based Sax Shack. Couldn't have been more professional. Thanks to whoever on here tipped me off about them. FYI I went over to look at OP's problem shop, Bexley Brass. My computer's AV app promptly had a fit and removed me, telling me I'd narrowly avoided a nasty something or other. I am now left wondering whether my AV is just usually efficient at detecting virii, or can actually detect a dodgy trader.
  11. Behringer BX4500H Ultrabass head 450w £80. Excellent condition and works fine. Comes with a pedal to select Shape and Ultrabass. Bought for a project that went away so just looking for what it cost me. Sort of an American answer to Ashdown. Well regarded by the cogniscenti. Due to weight collection preferred, but can post for a third of the value of the amp. Stock pics but my head looks just like this.
  12. I keep buying six strings but I really can't do them justice. So I'm looking to trade my Cort A6 for a sax or a Portamento fretless, or perhaps sell. Cort A6 with Cort hard case. Quality thru neck bass, dubbed 'entry level to the boutique basses'. Active/ passive switchable circuitry with great EQ. V good condition. A couple of small chips in the hard lacqer but you feel them more than see them. Almost new Dunlop roundwounds strings, 'board cleaned and oiled and bass properly set up. Everything, including dual truss rods, works fine. More pics available if you need. Now £375 collection, or plus £30 shipping. Would also trade for an Ibanez SRF705 Portamento fretless, or Alto Sax of equivalent value, with cash adjustment.
  13. Playing Dereham Blues Festival yesterday we did one late night nightclub gig in almost complete darkness. Eek. But playing fretless, as is what I do, came in very useful. Interestingly if I consciously tried to feel for the right note things went pearshaped, while leaving it to mussel memory worked fine.
  14. Going to use the MB stand at Dereham Blues Fest tomorrow. Sure it will be fine - if a bit sticky outy.
  15. Now bought Dunlops and they're not the same. Pretty sure my old ones were Picato.
  16. Gauge - and brand. I have been trying to replace the flats on my cheap Revelation fretless, which i love but they're old and getting weak at the head end through repeated bending back and forth. After taking advice on here based on the silk colour (black both ends) I thought they must be Dunlops. £68 !!!!!! later I put the Dunlops on and found they sounded and felt nothing like my old strings. Belatedly Lee at Strings Direct said they could be Picato. Result! Now I can come out as a Picato lover. Incidentally, I also love La Bella RX nickel rounds which no one seems to know about but I and a few others have diiscovered and are far better than anythinbg else I'ce tried (YMMVobv). At my persuasion Lee is now going to stock the RXs.
  17. You has PM - unlike the country at the moment

  19. Jim Dunlop flatwound strings 45-105 long scale. Bought new in error. Cut generously for a Fender 4 in line, bottom silks pared back slightly so as to clear the bridge saddles. Played gently for about 10 minutes since unboxing. £45 posted. They're almost £70 new!
  20. Good point, well made 🤣 NURSE!!! My drip's popped out again.
  21. I do see your point. But at the moment my BF is successfully supported-ish because the 'foot spikes' of the stand have traction on the floor, and the rubber feet of the cab stop it sliding off the stand. My problem is not to get the cab to tilt back on the stand, but that the stand angle is way to steep - at least the way I have it setup, which may be wrong. But I can't see there are that many different ways of folding a triangle of plywood and velcro/cloth. But then I always failed those tests for being an army officer armed only with, well, a triangle of plywood strips and cloth.
  22. Yup. That's what I'm after - advice on how to set it up
  23. The Portamento isn't truly unlined, it has stub lines. Which is really handy above the 12 fret, but slightly defeats the object of being unlined.... whatever that is
