1.
There's a GAS kill if I ever saw one! Sorry dude! What kind of wood strips like that, must be super soft?

The jack socket on a few of my basses is super tight. This is the same. I usually press on the control plate whilst pulling the cable out. I can see how the above might be done...
I'm no expert, but I don't think the wood is soft. It seems to me that the drill holes are slightly too big, or have been drilled twice in slightly different positions, then filled in a bit.
2. So last night I had decided the bass was to go back - I even packed it up ready. Then this morning the house was empty so I thought I'd have one more try of it. Out it came from the box and it immediately felt good in hand. After a little slap and then some finger style I realised what a great sounding instrument this is. I think I finally got what a great passive tone was. The more I played it the more I realised there was something special about the bass. I was pretty much sure I was now going to keep the bass. I then went to pull out my lead and the below happened :-o
3. Here are some photos from yesterday. As I said in a previous post, I didn't think I would ever like pink, but this bass is really stunning in the flesh.
4.
I am like that with every P Bass I try.
I used to think I hated p basses, but they seem to like me these days. Maybe I just need to admit I'm a p bass kind of guy!
Man, you might regret it! Andertons have announced USA products are rising in price.
I know, I know. I honestly love so many things about this bass from the looks, the specs, to the sound. I really want it to be the one, but I've got a far better gauge these days what works for me and I get a feeling that Fender Jazz basses don't. That makes me real sad.
5. Arrived safe and sound! After a quick weigh in, it appears to be 8.4lbs. It does feel light - possibly one of the lightest basses I've had. Before I ordered it I had no inclinations for a pink bass and was sure I would like it. But as soon as I opened the case I was immediately impressed with the look and feel of it. The colour combo with the pickguard is perfect and the shade of pink definitely has a vintage look to it. It is all very well done and I really like it. It has a similar vibe like the RW Jazz. However, colour preferences aside I would say this is a better bass for me. I think it is because the neck feels better to me and maybe not quite as skinny (but definitely not fat). I think the nitro finish on the neck feels great. The stacked controls is all new to me, so I'm not sure what to make of it yet, as I've not fully experimented. I guess some may have preferences to the vvt on the RW Jazz. Out of the box the set up is not too bad. I'm never one for a super low action, but I feel this bass could do with a slight tweak to get it a bit lower. This is just my preference though. Sound wise it is early days for me, as I think there is a lot to be discovered here. It is very good though on a quick mess around. I think overall the features versus value for money is truly superb. It is kind of why I bought it despite the many reasons I shouldn't have bought it! My heart kind of loves this bass for many reasons - I'm digging the vintage rw vibe at the moment and I guess Flea was one of the first bass players that really influenced me. However, despite all the positives I have, I've got this inkling that the bass may go back. This is shocking I know! I think it is a case of "it's not you, it's me"! I want to be a fender jazz person, but so far there's something physically that is not quite right for me. I'm going to play it for a bit and see if I can get over this.....
6. Mine is still in transit somewhere on the hottest day of the year :-o
7.
And to think that Flea was given the bass by a fan! Also, how long before there's a Limelight copy?
Not sure how accurate this is, but it seems to be the story of the original bass. $35k!!! https://m.reddit.com/r/Bass/comments/4sfvij/how_flea_got_the_worlds_coolest_bass_his_1961/d59oa2x
8.
Maybe this time will be unique and everyone will decide this is the one bass for them and GAS will subside!!
A cure for GAS is something I definitely need! Maybe this is why I keeping buying - to find a way to stop!!!
9.
Luckily, when I do go for getting one second hand, seems there will be a lot around
What makes you thing we will sell?!?! Perhaps you know people too well ;-) :-D
10. The difficult part wasn't deciding to buy this bass, but which bass am I'm going to have to sell in place of it..... I guess these are the kind of problems we are happy to have ;-)
11. Yes, club numbers ;-) Mines arriving tomorrow. Possibly most excited in ages!
12. I was very interested in the bass when I first discovered it (only a few days ago), but reading this thread has sealed my fate! For all the reasons discussed I think this is a good bass to buy now. Too good a deal in fact!
13. Uh oh.... I've gone and placed an order... Keep telling myself that the option to return is there....!!
14.
I've only briefly tried the RW Jazz, but I tend to prefer a slightly fatter wider neck despite having small hands. I learnt on a P bass so a Jazz nut can cramp my hands sometimes. This bass doesn't feel like it has a super skinny neck to me.
I'm totally with you on what you say with necks. I would say that is my preference too. It's taken a few years of buying and selling to figure this out!
15. How does this Flea bass compare with the Fender RW Jazz physically? I had the RW Jazz, loved it, but couldn't quite get on with the neck shape feel. Have any of you new owners tried both? I'd be interested to know any thoughts.
16.
The bass chat mantra. I really don't need another ........
... I promise to sell one.....
17. I wish I hadn't found this thread.... I really don't need any more basses..... But......
18.
Apart from strings (as for any instrument shop!), I find BD's prices competitive. Some of the special offers are outstanding; I got a brand new Stingray (model with gig-bag) for well under a grand. It's a great bass, too.
Was it a black one? I had my eye on that, but it disappeared before I had a chance to get it! Luckily, another one has appeared on the site now!!

Sold.

Again this is an awesome bass, especially at this price. I think rock basses new are more expensive than this! :-0 I had one very similar to this and sold to hamfist on here. Hamfist made a great video showing some of the sound possibilities with this bass. There are tons of possibilities: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCITwIZmnIY#t=187

Sold.

I had one of these, with gold hardware. Cracking bass and cracking price
21. Alain just bought my Fender RW Jazz. What can I say? There is a reason why there is so much good feedback for Alain. From start to finish it was an absolute pleasure being in contact with Alain. Superb communication and payment immediately. I really can't recommend Alain enough and it is people like him who make this market place a wonderful thing. I can wholeheartedly say that you can buy/sell with the utmost of confidence with Alain. But not only that he is a super top bloke and I have genuinely enjoyed our email conversations. If he is ever in Wales there will be a welcome there for him ;-) I really hope the bass is for you and if I can help in any way, I'd be glad to assist. :-)
22. Wow, never seen a warwick like that before.
23. Thank you for promptly replying to my PMs and sending additional photos. I was severely tempted by this. Great looking bass and great price. GLWTS.
24. SOLD! All paid up. Bass packed and going to be shipped soon :-)
25. SOLD - pending payment! Thank you guys above for your positive comments. It really made me think hard about selling this bass - I hope I don't regret..... These RW series are great. I bought the P version based on the quality of the J. At the time I thought I hated P basses! Well the P version has totally converted me!
