1. I'm Steinberger free at the moment but given available cash, I would jump on this in a heartbeat. I had a transitional XL2 and it was a beast. A very, very playable beast
2. Yes ,a big factor is the demise of the pound. A lot of the more expensive gear is brought to the board from EU collectors/sellers. I often see prices in Euros that would have been appealing 2 years ago, but nowadays they're simply not worth considering for British buyers.
3. Ooooooo...that takes me RIGHT back to Wapping, 1986. Teenage me used to drop into the bass centre of a Saturday and work my way through the Wals, Jaydees, Zons, Alembics and the Statii. Always loved the Statii ...through a hot Trace Elliott 4X10, natch...
4. Another vote for the Classic - I've owned 90s Stingrays and have tried a lot of the new ones and find the Classic a much better bass in tone and playability. The fingerboard radius is 7.25 (or thereabouts) and is very comfy. 2 band tone is great too - controllable zing and a lot of thump!
5. Gorgeous bass at astonishing price alert!
6. Bass of choice for Adam Neely by the look of it...
7. Indeed - these are fantastic basses. The tweak of the slab body to tummy cut/ elbow contour only makes it more desirable I think (and of course Shuker is a top notch choice for the mod). Very classy bass. They have astonishing necks and the two band pre is extraordinarily versatile. I had one that could go from really sweet and useable edgy stingray tones to Chic to deep P dark low middy thump with a twist of the tone knob. GLWTS!
8. Can I just say that is the coolest bass on the forum
9. I had one of these (although mine had an epoxied rosewood board). FABULOUS bass. I miss it! Hmmmm...
10. Fabulous bass shop! In my experience they also manage to defy the 'dealer sells more than private' rule. I bought an as new Roadworn Jazz from them for 650 quid just over a year ago Excellent place to buy a bass. And if your gear needs a fix or a mod, they're top notch.
11. I tried the short scale one at the Gallery. Was a fun bass with a punchy/ Stingrayish tone (P bass at a push). I'm not a big one for short scale though but it sounded good, was very playable and was clearly a well made instrument. Light and well balanced too. Next time I'm in there I'll try the 34 inch scale version if it's still there. Always great to see a new luthier on the block.
12. Ahhh - a set of Thomastiks on an old Ric 4001 is bass heaven. No Clank. Just lovely, blooming, sustainy, bouncy notes. Lovely things, flats...
13. Easily one of the best basses out there (for so many types of music) IMHO. I sold mine in a moment of madness and would love to have it back (shuffles off to weep tears of regret)...
14. Tweaked the title
15. Seems to have been hung in the sun so the finish has discoloured. Try before buy to check the neck hasn't gone south....
16. White neck through Yamaha in the NW https://www.gumtree....2004/1269971468
17. Will be interesting to see pics. I think I'm correct in assuming a paddle (aka Spector) headstock indicates the very first streamers? Also, as I've been looking with interest at these basses, lack of a serial seems to be pretty common on these early paddle heads despite the natural/oil finish.
18. Woof!
19. That sounds great!
20. Brilliant deal with Gary, smooth and swift and packed perfectly. Recommended! Cheers, Nick

22. This groovy Celinder is SOLD...
23. Ahhhhrrrghh...
24. Yup, it has that classic J bass 'tack' at the front of the note like no one's business. Very good bass. And light... did I mention light?
25. And here's a Sunday bump for my Celinder... Part ex trades encouraged - decent precisions, 80s and Classic Stingrays, Spector Euro LX basses Cheers, N
