What colour have you gone for? I've been gently gassing for one of these for a while. The almond ones are in stock, but I do like the green.
  2. In theory anodised aluminium is very very hard, so should be resistant to scratching. Rather than a coating like paint, it actually converts the top layer of ally to an oxide, which is porous. Pigment fills these pores so that the colour is actually in the top layer of aluminium rather than sat on top like paint. It is also resistant to most chemicals that don't eat into the surface. So either of my suggested methods 'should' work. Personally I'd fill with something like Humbrol model paint and clean up whilst wet with white spirit. From memory white spirit removes Humbrol paint. The white spirit is relatively tame and shouldn't touch the anodising. As always, try a tiny area first.
  3. Is the aluminium fret board painted/coated with something? Painting the recessed marker and then, when dry, tidying up the edges by lightly rubbing the fretboard surface with some fine wet n dry would be my way to go, depending on the finish already on the fretboard. Or, test an area of the fretboard with a solvent to make sure the solvent doesn't take the finish off, the paint the markers with a paint that the solvent will take off while wet. Then carefully paint and clean up any excess with said solvent on a cotton bud or similar.
  4. That looks great. I have a fretless P that's vintage white, mint scratchplate and rosewood board. A lovely combination.

Are these all but the same tone as a Thunderbird (vintage pro), given that the pickups, bridge and tailpiece are the same? Are the pickups exactly the same and the same placement? Obviously different woods and weight etc, but are they very similar apart from looks?
  6. I'd just make up a lead just the right length with a female connector at one end. Christmas is approaching and the usual "What do you want?" will be being asked. This could be a candidate.
  7. Re the transmitter dongle. How about making a clip to clip it to your strap and using a very short cable, like the old school wireless' used to do?
  8. What is the battery life like on these? I know you can recharge between sets, but that's only a fifteen minute top up. Will it happily do three hours in one hit?
  9. They just do a few other colours, just in case for some bizarre reason people don't want a vintage white one. 😉 I do like the look of the teal 434 though, oh yeah and the orange 414 is amazing, the black 424x looks great too. Ok ok, but vintage white is the best with a black scratchplate.
  10. I've got a pair of these in a Jazz bass with a series switch. Powerful, punchy, burpy jazz tones individually but seriously huge sounding in series. Great pickups.
  11. Well saying that, I'm only assuming that's how offers on a auction style listing works. Offers on a 'Buy It Now' listing is to make a lower offer than the asking price. I'd assumed newer feature of offers on an auction style listing is ebays way of making sure they get their cut from auctions that are ended early when someone offers an amount the seller is happy to accept. So presumably the offer has to be higher than the starting bid. Reading that back, maybe I'm overthinking this. 😁
  12. That's offers above the starting bid to end the auction early. I'd want to pay £75 below the starting bid.
  13. I used black shoe polish, the liquid type with a foam applicator on the top, to do an early 70s case a few years ago. It worked really well and has held up nicely, not rubbed off on anything or gone weird. It went on and dried nicely, no streaks or anything. Ignore the white flecks, I don't know what that is in this picture, the case is an even jet black.
  14. Wargasm - L7
  15. I had that one in my watch list, ended unsold last week. £450 starting bid is a bit steep though isn't it?
  16. Maybe a Hofner style floating bridge would work, they're 14mm from memory. Or a Squier Bronco has a 17mm bridge.
  17. Billy Hunt - The Jam
  18. The natural 400S went for £230 inc original case. It looked lovely. Had active EMG pickups fitted so not original, but I'd imagine would sound great.
  19. Someone's only gone and had it away! Cheeky bleeders.
  20. Not looking, not looking not looking... ... Er, maybe just a quick look.
  21. No that's Jefferson Airplane. 😁
  22. I used to gig with a bi-amped rig and an Akai Unibass pedal. The highs went to a 4x12 cab, the lows to a 2x15 cab and the distorted octave up plus a fifth above went to a Line6 guitar amp. Absolutely rediculous... ... but immense. 🙂👍
  23. Maybe - Oasis
  24. You're right, and I did actually mean to put that. Freudian slip? 🤔 😁
