As TheGreek says, Barrie was kind enough to collect a bass for me while he was dropping off a bass to Mick. I then collected my bass from Barrie and paid him the balance for the bass he had dropped off at TheGreeks. Saved me a very long drive. This is what The Basschat community should always be about, trust and confidence while making life easier for all concerned. What made this trade even more remarkable is that Barrie had previously been involved with a similar trade but one of the party cancelled at the last minute when part of the trade had already been completed leaving him with an unwanted item. If that had been me I would most likely had never contemplated such a trade ever again. I arrived at Barries two minutes after he had just driven the 2 hours from Micks to be welcomed with a lovely cup of tea (I assure it was, don't listen to his wife).. We had a long and interesting chat about all things bass, I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.. I then spotted I had been there almost 2 hours (I am sorry if I out stayed your welcome) and bid Barrie a fond farewell and set out on my two hour drive home. It was a pleasure to meet you Barrie and I have no hesitation in recommending you to anyone wishing to trade. May the Funk be with you. Ron

Did a 3 way deal with Mick this weekend. Trade went as smooth as could be. Bass exactly as described (if not better). Only shame is we never got to meet. Trade with confidence absolutely no problems. Cheers Mick for not having second thoughts about the transaction.

Thought fellow BCers would be interested in a transcription of Stevie Wonders Superstition. I played this just recently with a horn section, great fun to play.

Just bought the Mono Vertigo for guitar, really impressed. Was concerned about the Headlock being suitable for my 5 string. Mark at Bass Direct gave me good advice. Really happy with my purchase. Thanks everyone for all your comments.

Hi, I am on the look out for a new gig bag. Besides doing a good job at protecting my bass I also need one with a hanging hook and I was wondering if you could let me know if your bag has one or not. Thanks in advance for any information.

Sold Martin a Gig Bag. Really easy and fast transaction. Highly recommend everyone that dealing with Martin will be sound.

Bought gig bag direct from Status last week. Foolishly thought bag had an external ring for hanging on a coat hook etc. which I need. Bag cost £54.00 that's £35.00 for the bag, £9.00 VAT plus £10.00 for postage. Looking for £40.00 delivered to mainland UK. ***SOLD***

I use a Playbook for this. Also invested in a set of iBallz for protection. I was showing my nephew them, popped out of the room came back in and he had fitted them to his iPad which he then dropped on the floor from chest height. iPad 100% OK. Well worth the £15.00 off eBay.
Not at all. Why must it be 'really naff' just because I don't change anything?
I was actually joking. If you had read my earlier post you would read that I only flick a switch and adjust the mids. Sound is a personal thing, If I can't get the sound that I want from my bass as is then I also leave it to technique. If I did adjust my amp EQ then no doubt the sound man would soon change it anyway It is for this very same reason I don't use pedals..
I never change anything other than the technique.
Your slap sound must be really naff then.
On a side note / thread hijack sort of thing.......... Do you leave all the amp settings and the likes the same as for regular finger plucking or do you crank the gain or anything up?
I am fortunate enough to play a Status S2 and for me all I have to do is flick a toggle switch and adjust the mids.

I only ever slap for fun, as yet have never needed to in a live situation. I do enjoy slapping and it's the thump bit that I found really foreign but I slowly got my brain into Love Games. Stuart Clayton Level 42 transcriptions set me on the right path that watching utube clips could never achieve. It's really all about keeping your right hand relaxed and then learning not to use it when you thump with your left. If you try and play Lessons in Love, which is a simple enough line without a relaxed right hand, I very much doubt if you will last as far as the vocal entry. Try slapping from the elbow and not from the wrist. Also I should mention that I play a V string so the wrap around approach is not possible for me, as far as Hot Water is concerned, I find that it is by no means Marks more difficult lines. And I am honestly not that good. A nice low action will help with the playing and a new set of strings will help with your tone.
Wow havent you just got this off mojobass? Some of those are my pictures!!! Just to add this was mine to once upon a time Note i think its a 2008 model not 1998
Cheers for pointing out the my error in the date of manufacture, I knew it was 2008 but for some unknown reason I typed 1998 and failed to spot this. Thought the following maybe of interest. Until I owned a headless Status I had no idea how to tune or change strings. Here we see Mark King doing both on his Kingbass (about 1:40 into the clip), Not the same bass as mine but tuning and restringing is identical as it uses the same system on both. It is also possible to use single ball end strings but I never bother, as you can see the double ball end strings are really quick and easy to change.
That's correct Tiger Bay, born and bred. Are you? Maybe I know you? Just had a tax bill this morning, so cash a bit tight at the moment. If bass still available at the end of the month I can buy it then. I can even pop through to Newport with the cash and collect the beauty
I am the youngest of five, my 3 sisters and brother were all born down the bay, but sadly not me. Just to be clear my asking price of £1200.00 is open to offers, I am more than happy to haggle. -
