1. would you split the cab? how much?
2.
It won't do any harm but if you don't like the look you could try rubbing it down with something. Probably easier if you can remove the pickup cover first (to avoid scratching the plastic). I would try "Brasso" (can you still buy that ?) or "T-Cut" on a cloth first. If that doesn't work then gently rubbing with fine sandpaper should remove any surface rust.
I've always used foil and oil to get rid of light rust, I think it would work on a pickup, but careful where the oil goes! i just spray a little WD40 onto a piece of tinfoil, and rub it on the metal, it usually does the trick
3. I was tempted to give flats a go on mine, but unfortunately I don't have the time or the money!
4. But arbiter were thinking of buying sound control... maybe they have and this is the result?
5. the allen size is 0/16" (is that how you write it?) or 1.58mm
6. theres quite a few that have xlr in, xlr through, monitor in (which you wouldn't need) and headphone out, but i cant find any with jack input and jack through output..
7. Would something like this work? only xlr inputs/outputs though, but right sort of thing...
8.
Obviously he could use a DI box and a stand-alone headphone amp but that gets a bit too messy. What's needed is a one-box solution. Ideally a battery powered belt-pack headphone amp with a bass loop-through that doesn't degrade the signal in any way.
i would be interested in something like that to, it could be very useful!
9.
musicman pickguard smoked chrome, just got it, but dosn't look good on my sparkle ray, £10 delivered Plain white 'jazz style' guard from a KSD, £10 delivered pearl white guard from a KSD jazz, also £10 delivered
hi, have you got any pics, or a link to the smoked chrome MM guard? cheers,
10. ahh, a quick check reveals that it is infact a valve emulation circuit, not a real valve... oh well! cheers!
11. Does this apply to a HA2500 too, could i change the valve? if so, what affect has the groove tube had in changing the sound?
12.
I'd say that if you can afford it and you love the tone/sound of a rig/bass then just go for it, it's only money at the end of the day - it comes and goes. The "perfect" setup is priceless IMO so if you ever find it then you should deffo just go for it and sod the cash.
Word.
13. I own a cort gb74 (4 string version of yours) as well as a musicman. I would think that you would be ok putting most mm style pickups in the cort, I'll check the dimensions when my bass comes back from being repaired, but you could look into something like a kent Armstrong pickup, http://www.wdmusic.com/musicman_reg_bass_p..._29693_prd1.htm or EMG etc...
14. hehe ^^
I'd have thought that the lacquer finish over the entire fretboard and frets (invariably used with maple 'boards) might have as much influence as the wood itself...
I dont think my 'ray has a lacquer finish, it seems natural! i think what we need is a test.....
15. I was just thinking, that i have heard severall people say that a maple fretbard gives a brighter sound, and a rosewood 'board gives a slightly warmer sound. I was jsust wondering how this can be, because, (on my stingray at least) the string does not even touch the wood of the fingerboard during playing! Is it to do with how firmly the fret is held or somthing? or is it a stupid question with a simple answer!
16.
Apologies as this isn't much help, but that's the least attractive finish I've ever seen on a bass In fact, correction, that was no help whatsoever Good luck whatever you decide to do, refinishing a bass is a real buzz Chris
hehe you think so? is there anything you wold recommend for the cort..
17. I am toying with the idea of refinishing my spare bass (cort gb74) thats looking a bit worse for wear. I want something that i can doo easily, and im really after some sort of natural finish. at the moment the bass is 'open pore natural' finish which it think is just some sort of oil on the wood? i would like to end up with something like the finish on this F-bass so is some sort of black grain filler the way to go? does anyone know how i would go about achieving this? cheers, Pete.
18. I'm pretty sure the s1 switch is something to do with the series/parallel wiring, one way is series and one way is parallel, or did i just make that up?!
19.
Sounds good! My little jazz funk band plays that (and are named after it actually) there is a live recording of on our myspace... www.myspace.com/chamaeleonmusic check it out! only live recordings though!
Hmmm it appears that the recording of chamaeleon seems to have been removed... Sorry!

21.
the swamp ash body on my Fender precision plus (1992) has become a more golden colour- it's still lighter under the scratchplate.
My swamp-ash body has done the same...
22. hmm its tempting! although I tried a stingray the other day and I wasn't bowled over! hmmmf, decisions!
23. thanks for the replies! i have worked out, using a scheme through my local school, I could actually get it for £580 not £820 my only concern is that for the money there could be something alot better! i also tried the musicman SUB and a few p-basses with the new 'S-1' switch but I think i preferred the esp...
24. i'm looking at getting a LTD B-404 http://www.drumpower.com.au/store/product....t=85&page=1 i have tried one out in a shop, and I liked the feel and the sound etc, but I was just wondering if there are any horror stories etc, or opinions, good or bad. I play funk/rock/jazz and have a budget of roughly £850 and although this is below budget i think it is pretty good....
25. ahhh, ok! cheers!
