10. I've just got hold of a Hartke 8x10 so these two have to go. Both are in good working order with the usual gig wear and tear. Hartke 410 Transporter. 300 watt 8 ohm. Marshall 410 300 watt 8 ohm. £100 for the Hartke. £80 for the Marshall. cheers Jase.
11.
I always thought my problem was nut width, but now I'm not so sure. I've got a MIJ 62 RI Precision that I changed the neck on as I was getting hand cramps with the neck. However, I've just played a Stingray which supposedly has a Precision like neck, and found it really comfortable?? I think the reissue P has a 'U' neck, so maybe I am more sensitive to neck shape? I presume most basses have a C shaped neck? I'm looking for a new (old) Precision, and have maybe mistakenly dismissed a lot of fantastic basses thinking I wouldn't be able to play them... So is nut width linked to comfort, or is it just string spacing? How would all this fit in with an early 70s Precision? Thinking of Beedster's B necked sunburst...so confused!!
Are you looking for one of those P necks that had J neck spec, "A" neck type. Apparently, some were made like this but most common were the "B" type. Have you considered the neck radius? I don't know what radius Stingrays are but your reissue would be a 7.25"...Stingrays 10 or 12??? new Fenders are 9.25" radius. I found my hand cramps came from the ultra slim or "shallow" profile of my Geddy, the theory being that there wasn't much neck filling my hand and as I play with my thumb behind the neck always as OTPJ mentioned, I found my thumb had to pivot causing cramps and fatigue but lots of people play the Geddy with out problem, I've also since found that a vintage radius is very difficult for me to play. I've since gone to the modern Fender shape and radius...C and 9.25" and again like OTPJ says they are very comfortable but of course it's all a matter of taste and what's best for you. Just my opinion
12. Hi maximus, is the cover still available? pm'd.
13. I'd really love it if any of my kids decided they wanted to learn an instrument, my son is now 12 (the age I started looking and listening) but he's yet to show any interest I'd rather wait until he asks about my bass or music as opposed to saying "look son this is how you play bass...wanna go?" I think kids live in a different world these days, he's more interested in computers, making videos, starting his own web page Now, my daughter is a pop star, so she says...she's 6 and will always ask to have a look at a bass and gets a little disappointed when she can't sing along when she hears me play. If anyone is selling a mini bass give me a shout
14.
I love the fact that all the magazines are saying the new American standards are some sort of massive change from the last models. They look the same to me!
Yeah, not much has changed, the S1 obviously has gone, that's a plus in my book. The bridge has a subtle change, it's a high mass vintage style but I get on fine with the bridges before the 2008 model. Machine heads are a little lighter so they say, I still prefer the old classic type, they've also tinted the neck.....just for appearance and something about the finish being thinner to let the wood breath......another.... For me the biggest plus is the long overdue improvement on the case an SKB molded type. Having said that I love Fender basses and would buy one if I had the cash
15. My Zoom has a built in tuner, not very sophisticated but ideal for a live situation, the only thing I have to do is make sure I hit the audio mute on my amp before tuning. At home practicing I use a tuning fork A 440. Tuners live are a must I reckon
