1.
It all depends on the practicalities. IMHO a DB is more satisfying to play and sounds better, period. But if you have to cart it around frequently or on public transport or you have back issues etc an EUB is obviously a sensible alternative. The Aria I just sold (to obbm) is a pretty good value compromise and much better than a Stagg. But really good EUBs (Yamaha, Eminence, Volante etc) run to the same price as a good DB (up to a few grand). I think there are a few threads in this section of the forum on the different types of DB (laminate vs carved etc) and which ones are good for the money. For example, Gareth Hughes picked up a DB from Thomann which he is very happy with for under a grand. Perhaps PM him?
Thanks Clarky, very helpful mate
 2. Hi all you upright lowenders!!! This is the first time I've posted here...feels like home...weirdly! I'm looking for some links, advice, stores, brands, etc. I'm switching from electric fretless to the big DB Thanks very much

I love Gino Vanelli. Your track really made me think of the band. Going to get your album. Cheers.
Wow!!! thanks mate!! The singer had wonderful hair!

 13.
We should be honoured that a player of his stature and experience be a part of this forum. Imagine the advice he would have given for nothing, just like Joe Hubbard has?

Have you ever been honoured to meet anyone? Really? I've met a few of my heroes and always been underwhelmed. Stevie Wonder's sh*t stinks, and he doesn't even have the common courtesy to use the bog brush. Sychophants like you should be shot like pigs.
Well, Captain Fireblanket......Pete has made a good point.....arseholes like you piss off the guys that have something to share in the bass world! 2 definite arseholes: BBC and Captain Fireblanket, sorry Elcapitan
I don't quite understand how we seem to go down well at gigs, or even how we get them in the first place.
Because it's good to watch and hear! It's good to know that there are gigs catering for this type of genre

Electric (Digital Download) Monkey's Humping In The Snow (mp3 sample from my website)
 22.
Well, to answer your question, that ACG Skelf is piezo-only. Alan built it as a prototype (trying out all sorts of ideas at once: piezo-only, 33" scale, chambered body, using ash in the neck, etc.), and it worked really, really well. But no, for now, the Skelf's not up for grabs.
Hahaha, thought it wouldn't be the one up for grabs! Sounds great though, chambered body and piezo! Actually I'm stuck on the piezo in the Esh, I'd take the rest of the gubbins out and just use piezo, the EMG TW's are way too active and super transparent for me, clickity clack and all that Thanks for showing the Sting Ray, gorgeous bass!
 23.
Even longer shot... Once my ACG arrives (tomorrow), I may be tempted to part with my fretless SR5. It's lined, and there's no piezo, but the board's ebony. Polyester-coated ebony, in fact. Check it out in my porn thread. Yes, it's a really long shot!
Wow, what a unique looking bass that is mate!! Excuse my ignorance...but where's the pup or what's the pup situation I should say...I'm an idiot EDIT* Oh hang on...wrong one, it's the Sting Ray right? See...I'm an idiot!! Hahaha
 24. This is a long shot but I have an Esh Various 4 Unlined Fretless, gorgeous bass!! Ebony board, active pup, piezo. I'm looking for a straight swap for a 5 string unlined fretless, same type of spec as mine, ebony board etc..... If anybody is interested I can get pics and more info up! Thanks. Jase.
