  1. Plenty of love for matamp, I have one just like it! Have bump.
  2. I for one am really gassing after one of these. The fact that he has used laklands for some time suggest a bit of a sell out by fender to try and push some units, and I personally rate Nate (hey I made that rhyme!) as a player but I wouldn't have thought he was in line for a signature bass. The reason I want one is I have really small hands, so I have mostly played jazz basses. I got a hold of a mike dirnt sig bass and love the sound but its quite clunky and I struggle a bit with the neck as its a "thick c". The Nate sig is a p bass with some body contour mods and a p bass neck and nut width but with a "slim c" neck profile. All I have to figure out is where I'm going to get the£650 to buy one!!!!
  3. Thanks Ruiner, is yours an early one or does yours have the reversed pickup?
  4. My first jazz was a vm squier, and I bought it for its slim neck. I'm quite enjoying the dirnt now, so the hoppus would hopefully be just a touch slimmer
  5. Thanks for the reply guys. I've been playing jazz for the last 12 months and been really happy with the variety of sound available. The jazz also suits me as I have tiny little lady like hands. I recently got a bad case of GAS when I saw I mike dirnt signature p bass, and to be honest was a little underwhelmed by its sound at home. I took it to rehearsal and was blown away by how well it cuts through! Now it's the only bass I take with me, however, it has a thick neck and a classic p bass body, so I thought the hoppus would suit a little better
  6. Hi all, Just wondering if I could get some thoughts of people who have owned/played one of these bad boys. I'm thinking about trading my mim jazz for one. Just a little concerned about it being a one trick pony, do they sound ok? im looking for a indie/mod rock sound. Cheers D.
  7. I have an ashdown perfect 10 for practice. I would think there are better sounding practice amps out there but for me it's great. I rehearse a lot at night so the headphone jack is a godsend plus the mp3 input allows you to play along to tracks all in one unit. I think I saw one in the classifieds or eBay recently for under £50.
  8. +1 for Eb. MANY bands tune down half a step, it takes some of the strain off. It might help to support your singer's pride if you back it up with evidence, Ian astbury and jeez even axl rose tune to Eb live. Also try to find a friend who can do a live recording at a rehearsal. Has your front man ever heard how he sounds stretching for the high notes? The first time I heard a recording of me on bass I was massively disappointed.
  9. Just picked up a really nice MIM Fende jazz from Chris. Top guy to deal with, was even ok with my tardiness. Buy in confidence. D.
  10. Here here. I bought Tony's matamp 610 this week and it is in perfect condition and at a great price. Super easy to deal with and responds to messages promptly. Top guy, top seller, don't hesitate.
  11. No probs dealing with Gav, he had some issues with his courier but communication was great, and product was excellent. Great seller
  12. Today is the anniversary of Cliff Burtons death, I'm sure this has been done a lot but I just wanted to pay tribute to a guy who is more of an inspiration now than he was when I first picked up a bass when I was 16. Rest in peace brother, you were taken too soon. D.
  13. Tony, I am beginning to think you have been sent here by the devil to torment me! I hope you sell this quick as I am trying to find things to sell...
  14. From what I hear these bad boys sound awesome! Shame it's outside the budget though, have a BUMP on me.
  15. Hey chatters, I feel ashamed to have to ask this as I am an electrician with Industrial electronic experience so I SHOULD know the answer, but hey it's Saturday night, I've had a few beers and can't be bothered with the math so here goes. I am looking for a new stage amp, in between pecking my head as to which brand/head to go with I have this question for my learned brethren out there. Take for example an orange terror bass 1000 (rated 1000 watts) in a perfect world I could run an orange 8x10 (rated at 1200 watts) flat out without blowing the cab into its next life. Now here's the question if I was to run the same head through a orange 4x10 and 1x15 (rated 600 watts each) given perfect world scenario could you run said amp flat out or only to an output of 600 watts. Hope this makes sense and someone can explain it to me. Cheers. D
  16. I think I may have posted in the wrong section before so thought I'd put it here too. I was reading about how tim commerford winds his own pickups. Anyone ever tried to do it??

  18. Hey guys, I was reading the other day that tim commerford winds his own pickups. Has anyone had a shot at this? Sounds like fun!!
  19. This thread has taken a turn.... But I like where it's going! The Metallica journey is one I look back on with some interest, let's face it the sound was destined to never be the same once cliff passed away. He had a very distinct sound, and despite what some people on these forums may say I think he was one of the greatest bass players of the modern rock/metal era. He showed us low end guys and girls that you can share the spotlight and wail, not just stand in the shadows by a dull old 8x10 playing quarter notes. As for albums, I think they are all good in their own way, st anger is the one I struggle with the most, some kind of monster is a rockin track though. DM is an awesome album, I think it an old school metal album with some new school sounds. All nightmare long is a belter! I might ad that I think Jason is an absolute powerhouse and rate him massively and rob I think is a great mix of the two and is a great fit for 'tallica. Can't wait for their next album!!!
  20. Hi all chatters, I was just checking out Jason from metallica's rig, and he says he uses a mutron iii. When did this happen? I can't remember hearing him use one so any help would be much appreciated
