  1. The problem is that it’s easier to appeal to “rock” music fans from the decades up to the 80’s because by and large, “rock” music fans from that era like the same songs!! It was after this time the all of the sub genres all splintered off, now what defines “rock” is hugely different...indie is a long way from death which is a long way from grunge which is a long way from tech..... just do what I did, bin the radio off, sign up to iTunes and just ask Siri to play whatever the hell you want to listen to. Granted, you might miss the whatever the newest stuff is if you don’t keep your finger on the pulse, but it might just save your sanity!!!
  2. When I first got involved with my last band, which was a grunge band, I though it would be a dead easy gig playing some really simple but popular songs. Some of you would say the same now... I was quite quickly brought down to earth!! Not only some complex bass lines, but some awkward time signatures as well. Rob DeLeo is one of my favourite bass players of all time. Considering he plays in a “rock” band, some of his lines could quite happily sit in Motown or jazz. Hugely underrated bass player.
  3. Don’t feel dumb, I am a qualified industrial electrician and I have to stop and scratch my head a little sometimes 😂 MOST amps will run a minimum load of 4 ohms, so you can usually run 1 x 4 ohm cab or 1 x 8 ohm cab or 2 x 8 ohm cabs IF they are run in parallel (the usual 1 x cab into a single lead into one of the two sockets on the amp) there are some amps that will do 2 ohms (2 x 4 ohms cabs for example), the ampeg svt springs to mind, but they are not the norm.
  4. I took your advice and emailed them, to which I got a very apologetic response, and a quick quiz for some more information, including an address to send a replacement to. Lets see what happens next!!
  5. This is why you have to play your best at all times, you never know who is watching lol. It can be downright soul destroying at times!!
  6. Hahaha!! The thought did occur!!! The other set was perfect though!
  7. Hi everyone, I had to do a last minute restring to one of my basses before tonight’s gig, and I feel like I need to have a moan. A couple of months back I ordered some Ernie Ball cobalt flats from a US based website, and had a friend in California ship them over to me (this site had a crazy deal on), but in putting the strings on, I found this issue. As you can see from the pics, the G String (😂) has what appears to be rust/corrosion on the surface of the string in sections, while all the other strings are fine. This is the second set I bought, the first were fine. Seems really strange that only one string is showing signs of this, and as the strings are in plastic, I can only assume it left the factory this way?? i know it may only look small, but these are not cheap strings, and I suspect this string will go dead rather rapidly due to this VERY frustrating
  8. Hahaha, nice one Karl 😂
  9. Agreed. They have a decent number of gigs coming up for the remainder of the year (on average around 25 a year). Really good stress free band this one, haven’t been in a few bands over the years, I know how rare these are!!!
  10. Really surprised to see these still here! if I had the cash I’d snap snap your hand off, I love the sound of my neo 212, but often thing handling 2 smaller cabs would be easier!!
  11. Ahhh...😫 why aren’t these black???? Are these potted or can you replace the covers??
  12. I got a bass shipped in this, it’s in a bad way, but with some gaffer tape works well for shipping, or possibly salvageable with some time and patience as most of the catches are busted. Free to collect from Warrington
  13. Haha, yes to got it BassBunny. And yes, Karl was kind enough to put my name forward when he decided to step down. great bunch of lads!!
  14. I thought Beer, Burger and Gas Money was clever!!
  15. I agree, and it is incredibly tempting 😂 i think he shipping from Germany might change the game for those considering it!
  16. Initials of the surname from the original members 😄
  17. Really surprised this is still here counsellor. I’d love to try one of these, they look absolutely amazing. The only thing I can think of that is putting people off is the import duty (I am assuming as Switzerland is outside EU, it would be similar to importing from the US??). Forgive my ignorance if this statement is incorrect, my EU law is sketch at best as I only moved to the U.K. 6 years ago 😂 wish you all the best with the sale in this one!!!
  18. Hey everyone, due to family and work commitments I can no longer commit to a gigging schedule, so have offered to help the guys with finding a replacement. These are a really solid bunch of lads to be in a band with, no ego’s, no BS, just turn up and play some great tunes and have a great time doing it. Mostly 70’s and 80’s classic rock but there are some newer songs in the mix and looking throw in some more modern songs to freshen Things up Usially 2 gigs and a couple of rehearsal a month, mostly in the northwest. Drop me me a line for info!!
  19. If anyone saw that last post, apologies, will teach me not to read things thoroughly. Sorry for the thread hijack!!! at least I know I have a NS4-CRFM 😂
  20. Thanks cetera, I know just enough to be dangerous. 😂
  21. Hmmm.... are you 100% on that David??? i thought the NS4-CR has the Stuart Spector Designs logo, rather than the Spector logo on yours. I have what I believe is referred to as a “non LX Euro”, which is the same as this with solid maple wings and neck through with the “Spector” logo. I am just not 100% on when the cutover from one to the other is. Sorry to be an anorak, my intentions are to help as it took me ages to find a non-LX Eur as they are harder to come by. They do sound different to the “walnut sandwich” LX, not night and day but they are different 😄
