1. Picked this up from storage and its somehow managed to get a few scratches on the bottom and a few small ones here and there on the top, not that you can really see tham but worth mentioning.
2. Right, here's a few pictures to wet the appetite... I've tried my best to highlight the goods and the bads, the finish is overall great except the hairline scratch on the upper horn, and the buckle rash and scratches on the back (this is a well gigged bass, but its still in good condition considering.) After getting it out of storage I realise the frets could do with another polish, but apart from that its all good. Either thru-body or normal bridge stringing, and tasty mother of pearl sharkfins to help release the inner metal player in you...... The pointy headstock hasn't had any bonks which is quite rare for Jacksons and Charvels like these, and I forgot to mention but the pickups are EMG-HZ's and the EQ is active, giving loads of tonal scope. And I've never changed the battery in all the time I've had it and its still going strong, so no chance of it letting you down on a gig. Is nice....
3. My girl feels exactly the same, she always puts on a funny voice and starts yelling "F*****g BassChat again!!!" But yeah, I'm much more of a reader than a poster. Sometimes I'm only on here once a day, sometimes 3 or 4.
4. ...this is turning into "I could fit 200 2x12s in a mini" now.
5. Sad times, but now my Jackson CMG Concert bass is up for sale. Really don't want to let this go but unfortunately needs must, so I hope someone here will give it a good new home. Its my Jackson CMG Concert bass in a tasteful Transparent Black finish. Its an Alder body with Flame Maple veneer top, with bolt-on Rock Maple neck and Rosewood fingerboard, loaded with two EMG PuPs and all black hardware. Sharkfin inlays and white binding around the fretboard and headstock, and maaaaaaan it sounds great. Usual 34" scale and a nice profile neck, not too heavy by any means and I'll be really sad to see it go! I've used this for loads of rock and metal gigs, but the sound can be tailored for whatever you wanna play on it, I did a video recording of some Stu Hamm stuff on it because it was the best bass I had for tapping clarity and tone. The action is currently set pretty low by my standards (so thats probably waaay too low for most people) but I can obviously adjust that before posting. The frets have had a good clean and its in overall very good condition, there's a hairline scratch on the upper horn which I'll show in photo's and I'll outline any marks or dings on it just as soon as I pick it up from storage on Wednesday. Heres the Jackson website link to them; http://www.jacksonguitars.com/products/pro...section=gallery ...and the specs page; http://www.jacksonguitars.com/products/spe...duct=2919003303 ..although the current models have graphite nuts on them I'm not sure if this is graphite or not, how do you tell?!? Mine is about 6 years old now, sent direct to me from the Jackson factory in Florida if memory serves me well. Here's a few basic photo's, I'll get much better ones up on Wednesday... Apologies for the quality/size of the photo's, its all I currently have of it. (Yeah its the Black one in the pictures!) It'll be sent in a good-enough gig bag and obviously will be fully insured. Looking for £350 for it delivered, or £335 collected from myself in North London.now
6. But Gumtree is really full of flakes, seems like its 99% 17 year olds who've played for the last few hours.....
7. THIS HAS NOW BEEN SOLD TO A NICE GUY VIA GUMTREE, THANKS FOR THE INTEREST EVERYBODY. I bought this bad boy to use with my Behringer V-Amp Pro, but I've never done more with it than plug it in and mess about for a while then not used it. Its in great condition, literally used for a few hours here and there, (I think its still got the plastic covers on the footswitches!) and it comes in a slightly tatty but well padded Electro Harmonix carry-bag thing, and its own Midi cable. The best price online I can find for it is £135, so hows £75 delivered Guv? Heres the link to the Behringer site and the manwell and piccies etc...; http://www.behringer.de/EN/Products/FCB1010.aspx I can get pictures of my actual one in the next few days, just got to dig it out of storage with the rest of my unused gumf! Any questions then just ask! Cheers peeps.
8. Well I bought this recently in the vain hope to pimp a jazz , but now I realise I need the cash more than I need this, so this is up for grabs. Its a discontinued Seymour Duncan AJB-1 active bridge pickup for jazz basses. The actual pickup itself has two little switches on it, giving 4 different sounds to it from warm and fat to snappy and hi-fi, to two others in between those. It was used for about a year in a previous bass so the "B" and the "A" on the "Basslines" logo has started to wear, but apart from that its in great condition. It comes with its own pot and wiring diagrams, and a small bags of bits to fit it to your bass. When these came out they were around £120 and were the real cutting edge of jazz pickups for a while, they ran loads of ads for them in the U.S Bass Player magazine and got great reviews, but for some reason I can't find any spiel on them on the internet. Its actually titled as an "Active EQ Pickup System" for jazz basses, meaning you'll need to attach a battery clip and 9v to run it, but thats not exactly difficult and Seymour Duncan says that the 9v will last 1000 hours continuous use (or two months as they say!!) Looking for £40 posted, not really looking for any trades except maybe one of those foam lined soft/lite cases. Any questions please ask. n
9. In my old Land Cruiser (for festival gigs) I could fit in 2 basses (in hard cases), 4x10, 1x15, 4U rack (amp, tuner etc), bag of leads, sleeping bag and change of clothes all on one side of the boot, so I could get pissed at the festival and sleep next to it all in the nice cosy warm with no tents or flooding to worry about.

11. Bootsy is such a bass-slut, first Washburn, then Cort, then Traben, now Warwick...... Cool bass though dude.
12. I use 35s when I'm doing more hiphop/DnB/Soul gigs, because of all the reasons you've listed. But when its just Dog and Duck rock covers gigs its the good ol' 45's all the way baby.
13. The Tribal Planet gig bags are fantastic protection and have loads of space for books/leads/catapults/mushrooms/cat food/whatever, but they're not the lightest of all gig bags. Guess thats the trade off for the amount of protection they offer. You can get them for less than £50 though, I have one and its blinding.
14. Why did they have to put that awful red binding around the neck? I'd jump at one if it weren't for that!!
15.
What's the advantage of buying a "Jim Harley" jazz bass for £70 + £15 p&p, when if you wait around a bit, you can get an Aria STB Jazz bass for a similar amount of money? Is Jim Harley a known quality brand? Or is it the SD pickup (just one?) that makes this a notable bargain? There was another thread with no-brand Jazz basses, factory seconds, for £50 + £20 p&p. I can't see the point of buying a no-brand when you can get an Aria for a similar price (one sold for £50!), and the Aria has, from what I read, a decent rep. Someone on here owns one, and told me that he'd rate it above a Squire Affinity, but below the Classic Vibes and Vintage Modifieds. Edit: Here's an Aria STB Precision bass for £69.99 starting bid plus £10 p&p. Past experience suggests that it's feasible that it might go for the starting bid. There are others BIN for up to £110, £139 etc. (more than they were new), but there always are. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aria-STB-Jazz-Bass_W...=item20afbb7daf Oh, and the previously mentioned STB Precision bass previously garnered no bids @£69.99.
Yeah I put the other link up for the seconds Jazz basses for £50 up too. I was just trawling ebay and thought that some people might wanna but them cheap to use the bodies or necks for projects, seeing as battered up Jazz bodies can sometimes go on here for a decent price. Didn't realise I could get someone so upset and uptight by trying to possibly show a couple of bargains for someone..... (?!?)
16.
Is it a short scale?
That made me wonder, either that or the guy playing it is Herman Munster.

21.
Here's one from a series of photos of Red Jackson busking in Guildford. The photographer handed us some fairly straight prints afterwards (he was working in a camera shop) and then posted these photoshopped ones on flikr. We use this one on all our promo material - we think it captures the 'romance' of the street band combined with a retro feel appropriate to an outfit playing '40s-'50s rhythm'n'blues. Also has the advantage that I'm not in it.
My favourite so far, easily.
