1. I think I'm gonna like the B3 a lot. Thanks for clearing up my questions :-)
2. Thanks, if that's the case - I better start putting money aside for the Fender Bassman (that's the amp simulation I really like)
3. Just starting to get the hang of my Zoom B3. There's a few patches I could find useful, but I'm wondering about the amp simulations - are they close the the real thing? The sound of the simulation of the Fender Bassman, the Eden and the Markboost patch is just my kinda thing. BUT - are they anything like the real deal, or just a sound with a cool name to it? Hope you get my blabbering...
4. Thanks guys, I really hope the B3 to be a handy tool for my bass (never used effects before)
5. I have used the Gallien Krueger MB200 along with a 15" speaker for some time. I also have played a few TC Electronic amps, but I prefer the MB200 for the sound and size. Great tone, and for even more power I'm thinking of daisychaining the 15" with 2x12"
6. Just got a B3. A few patched sounds great directly out of the box, but is there a place (in here perhaps) for B3 members, to talk about that cool little thing? Sorry, I'm on my phone only at the moment, so searching for a B3-members club is a bit confusing for me
7. Got one, and I love it. I still want a reasonable priced cabinet for it, though. The 15" GK I have is okay, but I would like a step up BTW - what is your settings (I really don't like the contour switch)?
8.
Which of the SR series is most suited to reggae, using flatwound strings for a clear deep smooth tone?
Fender Flats, good price, good solid sound - I only use Fender flatwounds
9.
Glad to see you've gone with the one you initially liked, but as ever on BC, pics or it never happened
10. I've had my SR600 for a few days. I think it needs to be used a bit more before I can give it my final verdict, but so far I love the tone, the weight (or lack of weight) and the look of it. Nice price, and it even came with Elixir strings on it. I have five basses, and my Sandberg P-bass is in close competition with my Ibanez SR 600 to be my number one choice.
11. Thanks Grangur
12. Thank you for all inputs. Looks like B3 is a winner. The looper+rythm sections is a plus for home practice. I know now what I want for my birthday BTW - the Sansamp sound thingy from the B3, is that as good as the real thing?
13. Not used to using any effects other than a compressor, I was curious about how I could get a better tone from my TC Electronic BG250 combo with a 15" speaker. Is a preamp the way to go (Sansamp or the Behringer clone), to get a more big fat sounding fuller tone without overdrive?
14. Are multieffect "just for fun" or are there any products that actually sounds good? I know a guy who says his Boss me20b is fun at home, but he rarely use it for anything but home practice. The Zoom b3 looks neat, and also have rythm patterns build in, but I've head it really don't sound good enough for using with a band or on stage. Zoom also have that cute little Multistomp-thingy, but I miss the drum thing for home practice. Are multieffects just a toy, or are the useful?
15. I just got the original (1x15" with one TonePrint and TubeDrive-button). Plenty loud for me, but not completely nuts about the tone. Great for home practice, I plug in my iPhone - and jam away. At gigs I run into the FOH, and 250 watts are plenty for stage sound. I use it for folk/blues bands - and for rock bands with loud drummers. I also have the GK MB200, and that gives me a warmer, richer tone...I think If I find an alternative the the BG250, I might part with the TC - but I do like the TonePrint, but I only use one effect (compressor). A bit hard the find the settings that gives me a good tone from the combo, set flat I think it sound a bit hard, dark and metallic. It's a keeper for now, alternatives (like Fender Rumble 500 combo and EBS Reidmar head with 1x12"cab sound good, but cost twice as much) What's you favorite settings?
16. I played an Ibanez SR 600 today, and I were taken by storm in a matter of seconds. To me that was a completely new experience. I have always loved the old classics (P and J), but I fell instantly in love with the Ibanez SR 600. So, I just got to have one - and here come trouble. I have narrowed it down to 3 basses from the Soundgear series, the SR 500/600/700. From what I can see, only the wood and the bridge separates these - what does that mount up to soundwise? I couldn't care less about how the look, they are a dream to hold and play, and I just want the one with best best sound - and I never play anything metal-over-the-top kinda grind thing. I just want a full and warm sound. What say you, gentlemen?
17. The amp everybody love to hate. I haven't used it much, and not in the last year or so completely. So I pulled it out, thinking I could sell it along a cheap bass, just to get a bit of money for the summer. I was surprised how good the little fella' sounded (BXL 900A). With gain set at 9 o'clock it sounds great. Even If it's supposed to be a 90 watt combo, it's certainly not very loud. When gain passes noon, the sound just turn to crap, but from 9 - 12 everything's smooth and cool. I actually think I'll keep it, but 3 amps are a bit to much for my needs (and I think of getting a new one - Fender Rumble 500). Turn it up to much, and it sounds like sh*t. Watt is another story with Behringer, I would like to see a 1000 watt, then I might use it for a gig. Anyone with a positive experience with Behringer?
18. Does anyone know a place where I can check out Sansamp/Tech21 and compare their sounds? There are a whole lot of great stuff from the company, and I'd like to have one of each - if money was no object... I would like to listen to the Sansamp Bassdriver, and compare it to the Para Driver - and give the VT a go. Shops around reasonable drivingtime don't stock up on much here in Denmark, so if any of you could point me to a site that present those fine little gadgets, or have come across a forum that compare the sound, please let me know. Thanks
19.
Doesn't this combo comes with that toneprint thinghy? Isn't there a SVTish preset for it? Regarding the main question i can't give you an opinion, i don't use any preamp pedal, for me it's all bout the bass's own preamp and the right hand placement. My amp always DI's to FOH pre-EQ and the amp's EQ is only there to correct any anoying freqs caused by the room.
Yep, TC Ekectronic comes with a built in overdrive - but I also play a GK MB200. The reason of getting a Paradriver should be, If it would give me a better tone from the amp, a tone I can't dial in on the amp itself. Soundmen often tend to avoid the DI-option offered directly out of the amp, and hands out their preferred DI box. At least that's my experience.
20. Thanks John, I'll give it a go
21. I an going to shield and ground a bass, and have bought some isolating paint. After that I have to solder a wire - anyone who can post a photo/drawing of from where to where I have to attach that wire? As you might have guessed, I have never done this before - so I'm not sure what I'm doing Thanks
22. Thanks guys for your input. Yep, it's a bit expensive, but my last gig can pay for it.
23. Why are you using a preamp? To make you amp sound better, for the distortion, as a DI or? I consider getting a Sansamp Paradriver to get a smooth vintage sound out of my budget TC Electronic BG250 combo. I also like the optional DI solution, for gigs etc. Am I getting the bassdriver for the wrong reasons, and why are YOU using one? I prefer the Sansamp Paradriver instead of the original Sansamp Bassdriver DI for the smoother sound and more optional mid scoops. Your comments would be most appreciated
24. Considering a Rumble 500 combo instead of my TC Electronic BG250 combo.
25. What If you go directly from your bass to a Sansamp preamp/DI --> mixer/PA? Will that give a flat and dull sound from the bass?
