1. No way Highfox, the Renault is my soulmate. It's scratched and has a few dings, it don't run 100% every day, some days it won't even start - and the stereo inside is outdated, so If I was a car - I would be that exactly Renault Megane!
2. What pick do you prefer? For many years (both on guitar and bass) my preferred pick was a Yamaha Hard. I can't find that specific pick anymore so I'm looking for a new one - and searching online showed me a lot of strange picks. Some made of bone, wood and even metal! What is your preferred choice of pick? I use a pick on my P-bass, and fingers on my J-bass
3. I was cleaning out in my man cave, and got caught up in something else. I got to play around with a Behringer combo. After a while, I actually got a nice tone out of it, so despite the bad rep Behringer has, I like to play my combo at home. One thing I don't enjoy from it (apart from the weight) is the lack of power! I have a 90w combo and it's only good for goofing around with alone. Not even in an acoustic trio is it worth much. I have never tried the Behringer U450/550w heads, but I plan to try them out one day. Just a few words from a man taking a break from the almost impossible task of making my hide-away look good and tidy - and Stanley Clarke is blasting out of my speakers
4. A combo is often cheaper, but the weight... If you are dragging your gear around a lot, I think you will replace a combo with a head/cab soon. I know I did.
5.
Nice family isteen! Especially loving the Squier TB - saw a guy using one at my local on saturday, it sounded fantastic! Its interesting to see the Vox amp - I have a 1970s Vox Escort (same sized amp) signed by the members of Queen. I really ought to get it valued! Cheers, Lorry
Thanks mate - yes, I bet your Vox could bring in a nice little extra cash! They are fantastic looking little amps (the tone isn't all that great). It's amazing what you can get for that small price (I think I gave 90 euro)
6.
Another TB convert then?
I have been to TB actually, but never that much to be call a regular TB'er I feel more at home here...
7. I have a few amps, and I'm guessing I'll have more coming in. The smallest one I have is the Vox 10 watt but I'm looking for another small one. Any experiences (good or bad) with these little ones, that are good for solo stuff?
8. Thanks for the advice on the volume guys, I'll make sure to remember that, if I get one. Thanks, I'm glad we have this friendly forum where we can help each other out, rather than shout and put each other down
9. Such a fine bass. Such a horrible sound it makes
10. I love The Toy Dolls, and Tommy Goober is a cool bass player. But the low action he has on his bass (Musicman?) would drive me crazy.
11. I can spend hours looking at various bass gear. At the moment I'm looking at the Zoom B2, and I might just spring for the B1 instead. I like the fact that they have a small percussion mode - so home practice might be more fun. Anyone with hands on experience with these small gadgets?
12. A few shots of my Squiers, and my little cute Vox and Gallien Krueger head
13. Thank you all
14. Hi guys - show me your saddles I am adjusting the saddles on my P-bass, here's a few pics of what it looked like, when it came from the shop Not very good looking, so I'm lowering the saddles/strings - trying to not get them so low they'll ring giving that ringing sound So, if you have that type of saddles, please shoot up a pic or two...
15.
Is everything working as it should? In other words, does it have any relation to a new, or old, fault?
Yep, everything is working as it should, no problems with the electronics
16. Yesterday I was goofing around with my Squier VM P-bass, and when I had to move some stuff, I was turning my bass upside down. I could hear something loose tumble around inside the bass, anyone ever experienced that before? Any suggestions where to look, and maybe what it is?
17. Hejsa Gustaf. Trevligt at se andre skandinaver herinde. You'll find that Basschat is a really friendly forum, and people are very helpful
18.
So, lesson to isteen; if you want to stir up a firestorm ask about TAB!!!
Yep! I see I managed to stir things up around here. I have never used tabs, but I played in a band once, where the guitarist went on and on around about tabs. Since I normally just play by ear - and I usually just wing it and get away with it - that's what I plan on doing in the future, I was just curious about tabs. Thanks to everyone for their inputs, I gather tabs just isn't the way to go ;-) Cheers you lot
19. One of the many things I've never learned is how to read tabs. Anyone know a good place to start, as I think that's the way to go - since I don't read notes either! A good place for newbies to tabs. Cheers
20. Hi everybody I own a GK MB200 I really love. The tone is great, and it's real easy to drag around. I play via a 15" cab - but I might want to get a bit more out of it, and I'm thinking of adding a 2x10" cab to it. Unforetunately there is just one Speakon Output in the amp, but there is also a normal line out on the back of the amp. Can I add an extra cab via the line out, or is the amp meant for just one cab? 21. Can't help myself. I feel I just got to have this sweet little combo I know some people don't like modeling amps - like this other little gadget I would like to own - but TC Electronic has come up with a great combo at a affordable price. Boy, if I ever win the lottery...
22. I can only comment on buying from Thomann. I have shopped there many times over the last 6 years and have never had any problems. Fast delivery and items in tip top shape upon arrival. Go for it
23. And since english isn't my native tongue, you guys think of every way to make it harder to understand ;-)
24. I found this friendly little spot on the internet when I just starting playing bass again, after I took a break from it for a couple of years ( don't many of us know that pattern?). Got a Squier Deluxe Jazz + a Squier vintage mod. P Bass, a Vox and a Behringer and a Gallien Krueger amp+cab, and constantly looking for new gear. I play in a trio Just wanted to introduce myself
