yeah ive watched the same video! and yeah your right they are chambered........it does seem to make a difference! in a good way too
Congrats! You have a very nice pair there. Regarding the chambered bodies: You can request a solid body in NYC instruments. In fact, most natural finished NYC basses are solid.
 2.
Fran I'm curious - are the twins 'ultra' vintage I note the necks have a curved heel. On my (non-ultra) vintage the neck (maple) is the same as the bass pictured with the girl. Did they change neck profiles at some point or did you request that shape? BTW - I prefer tortoise shell pickguard to the black :-) cheers Ian
These are not 'ultra vintage'. On NYC basses you can order the standard 21 fret, 'square' fingerboard or the 20 fret 'round' one like mine. I like the round looks better for 4 string, vintage style Sadowskys.
 3.
Fran Diaz........they look like a great pair of basses!! your a lucky man!!
Indeed!!! and they also have matching headstocks...if you go for a solid color Candy Apple Red is my choice.
 4.
Does your Sadowsky NYC have a glossed fingerboard, PlanetHead?
NYC's usually have a matte nitro finish. This finish is buffed buy your hand getting a little bit glossier over time. I love how this necks feel after a couple of moths of playing on them.
 5. Very nice pair! congrats! I really dig the Sadowsky
 6. Price Drop!!! 500 Euros!!! This preamp is in mint condition!
 7.
The Tort p/g looks SOOO much better than the White p/g.
+1. much better with tort...and beautiful grain on that ash! Hey Nino, you on this side of the pond...welcome
 8. bump This is a great pre to consider for anyone that wants to hear the real tone of a bass through a pure tube circuit. The EQ bypass makes it useful for recording of other instruments that need to warm up their tone. I have used it with electric and acoustic guitars with great success.
 9. If you're reading this you know what we have here, if you don't, do a search on that other forum on the other side of the pond and you'll find out that this is one of the best all tube preamps around, up there with Kern, Aguilar, Alembic and Demeter. I am the original owner and the unit is in excellent condition (sound & lookwise). Everything is stock. Main features: l One rack space high l All point-to-point hand wiring l All tube circuitry; not a single solid state component to be found in the signal path l Nothing but the best components; Sprague Atom electrolytic capacitors, Sprague Orange Drop polypropylene coupling/tone control caps, Auricap audiophile coupling caps, Vishay metal film resistors l Jensen transformer balanced DI XLR out l Jensen transformer balanced/unbalanced 1/4" line out l 4 band tube driven eq; bass, lo mid, high mid, treble l Mid Emphasis control alters the overall character of the eq for greater flexibility (I call this the guitar killer) l Deep switch with indicator LED l Bright switch with indicator LED l Mute switch with indicator LED l Gain control plus master volume l EQ bypass switch with indicator LED l Dedicated DI level control l Effects loop l Tuner out l 12AX7 and 12AU7 tubes l Extremely low noise Included in the price are several spare tubes that I don't longer need when this is gone. I'm open to trades/partial trades for small amps (Acoustic Image, Genz Benz, MarkBass...) Selling for 550 euros plus actual shipping (Shipping from Spain and using your chosen method/carrier with full insurance). I can give a quote if you send me your address. You can check my ebay feedback: "frandiaz". Other references available if needed. Any questions are welcome.
 10. Much better with the black guard. I also love PJs.
 11. Very nice collection. Congrats! I like the StingRay and the Sadowsky a lot. I own a PJ Sadowsky and I'm waititng for a fretless one that should be here soon.
 12. Great classic pair! congrats! ..and wonderful photos too.

 14. Nice pair! I have a fretless on order and the GAS is killing me after seeing yours.
 15. Great deal on a wonderful cab. Back in the day they were reviewed by Bass Player in a 4x10 shootout and they got rave reviews (as good as some SWR and Eden double the price).
 16.
lovely collection what does the switch do on the StingRay? and I agree, black blocks and binding on maple is simply inteloreable!
It's a parallel/series switch for the pickup...parallel is the standard SR wiring. Series is louder and more aggressive; it's nice to have it as an instant boost.
 17.
Truely fantastic collection there Fran, really like the Sadowsky's - only thing that would make them better IMO would be Pearl block inlays and binding...
Thanks. Blocks and binding are not available in NYC Sadowskys and I'm not a fan of them; I can only tolerate them in maple fingerboards and only pearl, never black.
 18.
Same here. I use a Sadowsky outboard pre with just the bass turned up ever so slightly through an Acoustic Image Focus II set flat. Let the bass speak for itself.
I play Sadowsky basses and I want to buy a new small amp. The AI Focus is my first option. What kind of basses do you play through your Sadowsky outboard->AI Focus rig and how's the tone? TIA I really love the tube warmth of my Read Purity preamp into the QSC, but I need something small and portable.
 19. My Read Purity preamp has an eq bypass switch and I use it 99% of the time. The signal goes through the tubes and the tone is to die for.
 20.
Lovely Musicman. Always wanted natural/black configuration. Shame you're not selling, and wish I had the money anyway
It's been with me in hundreds of gigs and rehearsals. I love its neck. I replaced the stock electronics with a Seymour Duncan alnico pickup and a SD preamp. IMO It was a big improvement over the stock electronics. I don't want to sell this bass, but an upright isn't cheap and I might have to part with it.
 21.
Fran, thats a beautiful collection......wouldn't mind something similar myself! I'm also into the natural look.....'pure wood' (just like my wife prefers!)
Thanks! Everytime I buy a new bass I tell to myself that it's going to be the last 'natural blonde' that I get, and then I do it again My fretless Sadowsky on order ATM is going to be my last bass for a long time. Next in line has to be an upright and then I'll be done, so I don't see any 'painted' basses in my future...unless I buy me a rockabilly style upright full of flames
 22. Many more photos can be found following this link. Some of my favorites: My main bass. Sadowsky NYC Vintage PJ4. It's routed to swap the P pickup for a jazz pickup in case I want to convert it to the standard jazz configuration. I have a fretless twin on order. This bass gives me everything I need. Sadowsky NYC VJ4. I sold it to order the fretless. It's a great bass and the single coil pickups shine, but I didn't want to have more than 3 basses at the same time and since I started studying upright bass the fretless GAS was hitting me hard. My old Lakland 4-94s (fretted and fretless with custom SD alnico pickups). I sold these when I bought my first Sadowsky and I have no regrets: My MusicMan StingRay. This was my only bass for many years. It has a lot of sentimental value although I rarely take it out of the closet. I might sell it when I need to buy a good upright. As you guys can see, I have a fixation with natural ash/maple combos. If you follow the link at the begining of the post you can see more photos of other Sadowskys, a '79 MM Stingray...
