1. your welcome. I had that same question a few months ago, hence the TB thread.
2. Your end pin can extend just over 9" (23 cm) without a problem. More info and photos here: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/hercules-bass-stand.1204944/#post-18711023
3. The Troll mic is also a good candidate.
4. I have not tried them but the Evah Slaps get great reviews for the three styles.
5. Schertler buids its own preamps. From basic models to the ones that are all bells and whistles. I would start there. IMO, manufacturers design their gear with voice/spec matching between their pickups and preamps in mind.
6. You guys sound great. Congrats. Love the toneof your bass!
7. I like how your band sounds and your playing sounds great. congrats and keep it up.
8. If it's a walk up from E to A, chances are that he played E - F# - G# - A. That'd be going from I to IV using the diatonic major scale in EM(4 #s).
9. it sounds like you have Pirastro Flexocor strings. They are aimed to the orchestra/classical players and not the best for pizz/jazz.
10. If your looking for a jazz/pizz sound, Flexocors are not the best choice, especially for the lower strings.
11. I just recorded a few quick videos of several tests I've done looking fo that elusive acoustic amplified double bass tone. I hope somebody can find it useful. Coments are very welcome. I've played my Michael Bornhak bass with an Earhlund pickup. I've used a Zoom Q3HD for the recording. It was placed on a tripod 12' away from the amps. IMO what you can hear in the video is quite representative of what I heard in the room. This is going to be a long road with a lot of factors affecting the final result. For instance, I put the pickup on the bass and I haven't even tried to move it around and hear how that changes the tone. This is the place where it is at the moment: First one is an Acoustic Image Contra amp (speaker is defeated) and an Aguilar SL112: https://www.youtube.com/embed/V2zSTVCCY3Y?controls=2 This is another video where I only use the Acoustic Image Contra SIII. I try several configs on the levels/eq. I'll document these settings and the times on the video but you can hear me saying it. https://www.youtube.com/embed/z9tjPGxzdTo?controls=2 This last video compares the AI with the Aguilar; what do you guys think about how they compare? for ease of listening: 0:30 AI - flat eq - input level fully clockwise - master volume @ 3 o'clock - tweeter on - no lowcut. 1:15 No amp 3:30 Aguilar TH500+SL112 - flat eq - gain @ 12 o'clock - no drive - master volume @ 12 o'clock 4:15 master volume @ 3 o'clock 4:57 I messed with the amp controls...forgot to say it out loud :^( 5:56 drive @ 9 o'clock - bass @ 11 o'clock - mid level @11 o'clock - mid freq. @ 2 o'clock - master @ 12 o'clock - tweeter @ 9 (20%) 6:30 drive @ 12 o'clock 7:06 mid freq. @ 3 o'clock - mid level @ 10 o'clock 8:10 bass @ 11 o'clock 8:30 no amp 8:50 amp back on. https://www.youtube.com/embed/V2zSTVCCY3Y?controls=2
12. Still available, shipping to/from Spain is not very expensive.
13. Open to trades/partial trades for other strings: - Spirocore Weich E & A - Evah Pirazzi regular or weich E & A or G & D. - G & D pair that work well under bow. (I hear your offer). thanks
14. Quick Update: It's been exactly one month since I got it and I'm still loving it...even though its sweet smell of varnish and oils is vanishing. I raised the string height a tad and I love the tone even more than before...more meat and less string buzz (a sound that I also like, closer to a fretless electric bass, but that I don't want at the moment).
15. I will send you a private message in Spanish with the answer to your question.
16. Many thanks. I really love the attention to detail that this bass shows...and it plays very well and IMO sounds great. What else could I ask for?
17. Two weeks at home and I'm still in love with this bass. :hyper: I just finished some arco study and if the arco tone with the Spiros keeps getting better (as it is happening one day after another) I might retire my other bass. One question for Spiro guys: Are the weich easier to bow than the mittels? I might give them a try just to hear how the bass responds to those (nothing wrong with the mittels, I'm just curious).
18. I bought these from Ben Bastin and they are in very good condition. I only had them on my classical bass for a few days. I love how they sound but since I got my new (jazz/pizz) bass with the same strings I would like to swap them for an A & E Spirocore Weich in similar condition so I can hear how they compare. thanks cheers Fran
19. great story! congrats on your new bass; it looks very nice. Isn't it a great feeling when you get to play an intrument that feels and sounds great from the very first note you play?
20.
Wow,that looks wonderful. I love the shape of the upper bouts. Enjoy

Beautiful.
Thank you very much!
21. Many thanks for your kind words, as we say here: I am like a kid with new shoes!
