Hi Brian, according to my book the small registered trademark R  was used until 77, then they started using Schaller but I’ve seen some 1980 ones with the R, maybe it’s early, here’s a 1969 with no R

Yes , spot on and I have found some on a 70 P without the R, maybe somebody rubbed up the paddles to get some pitting off hence the scratches

  2. Can you take a look at this tuner, I have been doing a clear out and totally forgot that I had these in a box. I took them off and old Fender some years ago, there is no ® above the Fender logo and if you look closely the paddle is a bit on the rough side. Could this be a fake ?

    My thoughts exactly...

It's a beautiful looking bass as it is but that matching headstock takes it to another level!

I had a CIJ P Bass a few years back and it was superbly built, and a joy to play.

🤔 Yet another one that I shouldn't have sold.... (bashes head repeatedly with multi fx unit).. 😁

    Anyway, enough of my self-recrimination..

    She's a beaut Brian and GLWTS ! 👍😊

Thanks Nick a lovely well made P , not a good time to be selling by the looks of it. Hopefully soon as I dont want to be reducing it any further 🤫

    Interesting! Thanks for the info.

    😊

yeah, odd one. Agreed, it’s all very tightly packed in the bridge-truss rod gap. I’m not that adventurous, a plain old BB fits me like a glove, but it’s an interesting article.

twas mine for a while and @AndyTravis before that , lovely bass and I dont understand why they are struggling to sell it

Thought I'd better bump this as I have been so busy lately, I forgot.

Which reminds me - I have a question for you :

In all the time I've been buying and selling bass gear here on Basschat, I've never had a situation like this one, where my For Sale advert has had almost 600 views, but I've not received one single PM or offer!

So, my question is, what's wrong, what am I doing wrong...

...Is it the bass itself, the price I'm asking, the current state of the second hand market, my advert??

I'm a little but stumped to be honest.

So, Basschat friends, your constructive, insightful feedback and comments would be most welcome.

    Thanks 👍😊

Its not the bass you are selling Nick as I have had 3 on here for sale without so much as a sniff so possible the market is a bit stagnant at the moment unfortunately...🤔

If you look at this one there is a tide mark where the date has been under the neck pocket and is lighter, the other one looks to clean for my liking, but what do I know

I like a date stamp on the neck, even if it’s feint, I always think of it as part of the puzzle, I was expecting to see a big clean one on the 66 above, a bit surprised it doesn’t have one,it would kinda put me off if I was buying it

Especially when the neck stamp on 60's necks are big and bold

I used to visit there quite a bit but no plans in the near future, but if I was I’d have to take a look, I can’t believe the condition it’s in

I know, been looking at it a few times, a beaut...
