I bought this bass over 15 years ago and it has been tucked away for so long that I forgot all about it, the guy whom I bought it
from never really played it and as such its in top class conditio bar a few minor dents pictured. The brass has tarnished over time
but its an eighties classic MIJ, the woods used are beautiful
The very top frets buzz a little and will need sorted but in the right hands it should not be a problem, I will include the very heavy case
that came with it.
Even the plastic protection on the back of the tuners is still on
18v active circuitry that can be switched to passive and a series/parallel switch

Nice early 80's SQ Precision in black
The pups have been changed out to Thumpers which sound much better, old ones dumped by previous owner
Loom had been upgraded as well
Some wear to the top frets but plenty of life in them
Neck is nice and straight with a good action, no buzz
Truss rod turns as it should
weight is 4.2 Kg's
Nut width 42mm
Bridge upgraded to good quality Schaller Bass2000 fully adjustable, original will go with it
Fitted with strap lock buttons
In overall good condition with some dents and swirls here and there
I dont know if the cover is original or not but it came with it
Some dents to the back of the neck but ave been smoothed out so nice satin finish and fast
I dont have a case for it but may have a foam type case for a bit extra but will be well packaged for transport
Well respected basses and almost on a par with the JV but not as accurate but built to Fenedr specs of that era
Any question please fire away

@briansbrew is this preamp 9v or 18v?
I have a 1996 Deluxe Jazz with noisy pots that are not responding to normal TLC. This may be a drop in replacement.
It has 2 battery clips so 18v but can run on 9v if I remember correctly

Question... is this V/V, stacked B&T and mids?
Also, do you know if this can be removed from the plate in order to fit a rear mount cavity - which is what I have
Many thanks
Julian
Hi Julian,
You are correct about the knobs, as for the cavity you will have to allowa bit of room for the printed circuit board, hope that helps

Ibanez basses from this era are true quality instruments and basically bulletproof. I had '79 active Roadster bass that I used for rehearsals 10 years ago, lived in the back of the guitarist's farmers Landy, along with hay bales, horse feed and sundry other detritus (in it's battered old case) and never put a foot wrong and near enough still in tune every time. Epic! It did acquire an unfortunate slight niff of the farmyard though and when I came to shift it on, I had to let the original case go and air it out for a couple of weeks...Great basses and the Studios have so much flexibility in terms of sound.
Lovely story von braun, these basses can do so much like you say...

Was this prefinished or done by yourself Adrian, is it a glos or satin finish...

For sale (no trade offers please) a Modern Player Jazz bass in black. This bass has been through the hands of a few forum folks . I think @AndyTravismay have rescued this from a studio and breathed new life into it with the new neck and tuners?? Then I inherited it from @eadin a trade.
Hardly any signs of wear at all that I can find.
The new jazz neck is fantastic. It's a roasted maple type with a lovely satin finish on the back. Rock solid hipshot tuners. Four way toggle switch on the pickups. Just go to YouTube for a quick overview of the four settings. I preferred it using full humbucker mode at the neck combined with single coil at the bridge.
I didn't have to do much with it really apart from get it properly set up (nut needed fixing up) and add new strings. All good now.
Tricky to price (for me anyway). £550 to 600 on Reverb???
Collection from Manchester although I'm happy to drive 45/60 minutes to meet halfway if someone is going to buy it. Welcome to try it here at my house through my practice amp.
PS sticker is only on the scratch plate. I'll remove it and clean up any residue before collection.
What is the access at the back for
