  1. I cant alter the price in the title which should have been £2500 and not £2700

Here I have for sale a 1974 Fender P in sunburst

When I got this bass it had been sprayed in red some years ago which happened quite a lot back in the 70's/80's

Luckily I managed to remove the paint without damaging the beautiful burst underneath, this took a long time and was a very slow process

Funnily that he only removed the pickguard and taped over the pickups when it was sprayed and the cavities were intact, the red you see now was

my doing when I rubbed down the paint and it ran into the cavities

I applied a coat of clear nitro to protect the colour

The pickguard was shipped from the USA as the one on it was a cheap aftermarket one, this one is a vintage RI aged which cost £100

Previous owner was a thumb digger judging by the divot he left

Some of the screws may or may not be original

    Truss rod is working fine

Plenty of life in the frets

I snapped the G string in case you were wondering, if I get a new set this week I will install them

Pots are original and dated 73 and the pickups are dated 74

    Nut Width is 40mm

Weight is 4.00Kg's which is quite good for this era

I am not playing bass anymore but I still like to dabble in fixing up and restoring guitars to keep me busy

    Any question please fire away

I’m kind of along those dates too , I don’t think of anything over 79 as being vintage, we’ve chatted about this before and I think people of different ages have different ideas

Then are we ourselves classed as Vintage people 🙄

wow the person backed out. Shocking. I was watching it as thought it would go for around 900. Just under 800 is a bargain. I was wondering if you had a reserve on it

I didnt put a reserve on it, I paid £1250 for it so was hoping for clsoe to that given what they go for

Regarding the ‘62 Jazz, it might be the angle the pic was taken but to my eyes some of the fretwork looks a little off at the dusty end.

It may be my eyes, so more than happy for someone to hurl Mr Magoo references my way!

Im with you on that one Mick, looks like the tang is out of the groove...

  7. Here we have my 1974 Fender Precision bass in a lovely burst

There are some bumps, chips ect which occured over the years but in good condition given that its now 50 years old

The only thing changed out were the pots but have been changed with vintage 74 dated pots to keep the bass as near as original, pickup cover is missing

comes with a Fender moulded case which is more modern

Nice straight neck and the frets are in good condition with minimal wear, neck is a slim C shape and not chunky

    Nut width is 40mm

Truss rod works fine both ways, all electrics working

    Weight is 4.6kg's

A great vintage Fender Precision which I hope will make someone happy as I no longer play, price is firm and will include postageto UK addresses
