This mysteriously showed up at my house yesterday? (Cheers for the heads up Tony!) I spent a little while last night tweaking it to my liking, a little truss rod adjustment, LaBella LTFs, saddle height and intonation, and pickup heights. It will need some new foams under the pickups (already ordered). But, by the end of it, I got the action low and it plays really well despite the original frets being fairly low by now. This bass has certainly lived a life and has all the marks to show it, but it’s a joy to me. It will be going with me to rehearsal tonight for its first outing.

    1973 Jazz Bass.

This awesome sounding TechSoundsystems 6x10, 2100 watt @6 ohms is a great cab and in great condition. I have not gigged it since I purchased it from Steve Soar on this forum (who really looked after it well and great guy) as it has been in my living room.

Neo Dynamic speakers, this is one excellent very high quality German sounding cabs, that have the best quality void free birch ply construction. It has an adjustable horn with settings from hard to soft and a high quality Cire tweeter.

No rips or on carpeting, only a slight mild cure depression on top of the grill, but this is hardly noticeable only with light shining on it otherwise in excellent working and cosmetic condition.

It weighs 661bs (30 is KG) and comes with fully functional wheels to make it easier to move around

Works great with Mark bass, Tc 750 or Genz Benz Streamliner 900 bass amps.

I'm afraid collection only from Bradford, West Yorkshire (10 miles from Leeds)

    Thanks

    Kalim

  4. I had one and regret selling it but these are well made Basses, for your info

One thing is for sure, their's nothing 'plain Jane' about these guitars. For those of you who don't know about "Foto-Flame" Fenders, they are unique. These Fenders are made of basswood and have a maple or alder cap. Whatever folks think, these Japanese Fenders were extremely well made at the Fuji-gen Plant. I traded emails with a few Foto-Flame owners, and they said they would never sell them. Made in Japan in 1994-95, the finish is a photographic film re-creation of wood flame (thus the name Foto) which is laminated on the body and neck. According to Jeff at xhefri's Guitars, Fender worked in connection with some photographic corporation. "I have heard both Polaroid and Kodak, but most likely Fuji"

Alright let's not derail this thread any further (although I really enjoy all the VI talk). I'm going to take the 1970 Jazz to a gig tomorrow and the 1966 Jazz as a backup. I've never taken two vintage Jazzes to a gig (because I've always only had one) so I feel pretty fortunate.

Where is that gig again 🤔 you may need a minder

  6. Here we have a a Precision that I have put togeather. I bought the body off a fellow Basschatter, here is his description on the body which is from Guitar build

I bought this used, and the original description said: "Hand finished in nitro it has been bleached with Oxalic acid then aniline dyed yellow under the sealer coat as per older 50’s/60’s factory process to give a strong yellow centre.  Sunburst then applied over sealer coat with three coats of clear gloss and buffed"

There is some (lovely) Relicing - see photos.  The finish will become even more beautiful as it continues to age naturally.

I have installed new EMG Geezer Butler signature pickups

The pickguard I also got off here, its from WD music

The tuners on the neck are Gotoh and fitted the existing holes perfectly

    The neck

I have had this neck for some time and it came on a precision body which I have used for a project. The neck is the star here, when I got it the headstock logo had been badly scraped and and was in a terrible mess so I sanded down and applied a Fender logo and lacquered.

Now i have had many basses over the many years that I have played and Im pretty sure that this one is an early eighties and possibly from a SQ as it has the same feel and fit as a SQ precision that I once owned and definately Japanese, truss rod at the heel, nice nut and board.

You know that a neck is good the moment you put your hand on it and this one has that feel, apart from the headstock logo the rest of the neck is perfect. Maybe somebody who looks at this might be better informed than me but IMHO its good.

Very little fret wear and truss rod turns both ways

In total this has cost me more than the asking price but Im sure you wont be dissapointed.

    Any questions please fire away

  7. Putting the feelers out for this neck, I have been offered a deal on the body so I will part with it if I get a buyer for the neck

Originally it was fretless and was professionally fretted some years ago so plenty of life in them

Truss rod turns both ways and tuners are like new

I have left it with my trusted Luthier to have dot markers installed

Price to include postage to UK addresses
