I’m afraid I don’t know to be honest they were on the JV bought from here recently, they feel similar to the 40-100 Hi Beams I replaced them with. They are certainly not a heavy gauge and have a low tension feel.
Thats fine Ash, I will have them

That message came after I explicitly advertised an item for collection, the guy bought it then asked me to post it. It caused me untold hassle and ended up with him threatening to come up and punch me. I replied “you can pick up the amp when you arrive you *expletive deleted*”Then I got a nice email from someone and I realised Basschat wasn’t eBay.
So I’m happy to post it, but only if you’re nice!
Thankfully we are all very friendly on here Lawrie LOL

I've had two of those cases, they were often sold from new with the guitar, so it could be that it is in fact the "original case" that came with the bass, in fact I'd put money on it. Many Fenders in the early 60's were shipped over to the UK without Fender cases and then sold with Selmer cases. As for it's value, do a comparison with similar items, there are a few around at the moment. If it can be had for significantly less than those currently advertised, then it might be worth a gamble. There are a number of concerns for me, the neck (what's it actually like now?), the truss rod and the pickup, do they work?
Tony, is there any opportunity to go and have a look?
From my experience the 71 Precision that I have came to me with a lot of rust on the hardware, probably been left in a damp enviroment. Anyway I had to make a neck adjustment and found that the truss ros was seized, took it to my luthier who had to remove the fretbaord to install a new rod, the old was was badly rusted so I ended up with a new board and frets which is fine as I got it for a fair price.
Looking at this one I would be concerned with the condition of the neck as it appears that some of the finish near the heel looks like damp/mould penetration and not to mention the amount of dings especially as it was only played for a short numner of years.
Normal patina is fine but the rust and pitting would put me off, I think a good inspection by someone on here who lives close by would help.

Here we have a Tele bass build
I Acquired this beautiful birdseye neck from a fellow Basschatter which is brand new, maker unknow
The body I got from a local guy who bought it from guitar build and it had been sprayed green
Not a great job on his finishing technique, I rubbed this down and refinished it in Antique white, there is a subtle shade of green showing through but not too noticable and the spray job is decent
He made a hash of the string through hole's which I had to cover over with a brass plate, not perfect but it hides the hashed holes he drilled
The bridge I have put on it is new but does not match up with the string through holes, if you want to use these then a different bridge will need to be sourced
New Hipshot tuners
New bloodstone handwound 51-54 Tele pickup
New pickguard from WD
CTS pots
Lovely neck with birdseye front and back, the neck alone cost me £200 and the rest of the parts and body came to over £300, due to the frets needing attention I have set a low asking price
The buyer will have to address some fret buzz at the higher end of the fretboard, some of these frets will need dressed and maybe some levelling which I am unable to do
Any question's please fire away
