Purchased this for my P Bass project and ended up upgrading to an American Original neck I found for a deal.
Missing a couple of tuner screws (one broke off). There's one small ding on the side...hard to photograph. Frets are perfect. Truss rod works as it whould. Will include the original Fender box for shipping.
FYI, I have a beater P bass body for sale as well if you wanted to purchase both and build up a quality BITSA bass.
Not sure whats up with 4.2MB file size for photos??? My photos are 4.8MB, DM me and I'll send you photos.
Shipping UK £10.00
Check that you havent got too many jpegs in your photo folder, if so delete some and that will free uo some space for you

Keep it and buy an early fretted Precision too would be my logic. You need both obviously.
I would need to sneak that one in past the missus 🤭

Bit of a dilema guys, I have an early 70's Fretless precision and I am contemplating having it fretted, would this affect the resale value and is it worth doing. I dont play fretless that much so any feedback appreciated..

Thanks very much. It’s a good one, too. Lighter than any of my others. I haven’t weighed it but it’s certainly below 9 pounds. Original frets, which is nice with the bound neck. Clean original case and ashtrays. Minor checking, but exactly the right type for CAR, close, straight parallel lines, which is reassuring, along with previous ownership from before they were worth faking to a forensic standard. Only minor issues, an extra screw hole under the scratchplate and the changed scratchplate itself. No point in worrying about that as there is less than zero chance of getting an authentic replacement. A visit to Martin Petersen resulted in a straight neck, excellent playability and a happy customer.
To play, it has a full-ish neck for a JB, but still very comfortable, a full, bright vintage tone with exceptional harmonics.
I’m always on the lookout for another, of course. The same as everyone else here😀
Is that a bass case lurking under the bed...

Up for sale is this well played 1973 Fender Precision
Original Neck, body, tuners and pots dated 73
Aged white pickguard, fender replacement strap pins, after market control knobs
The pickups seem to be a fair age judging by their apperance and wires and possibly Fender replacements but hard to tell
but they do sound great and no need to change unl;ess you want period correct one
Weight is 4.7Kg's
Nut width 40mm
Some wear to the top frets but overall in good shape
Truss rod turns easily
This bass has been gigged a lot and it shows, lots of paint wear, chips and crazing but sound wise its fantastic, certainly not a case queen
Price includes delivery to UK addresses, priced to sell given condition and non original pickups and such

The worth of the commodity. I think it is pretty obvious the vintage market has been driven by dealers creating prices and consumers forget the difference, and ultimately creating investment opportunity.
Exactly, we as consumers have no control over what the dealers deem to be market value for vintage Fenders and thus get caught up in the inflated prices.

Have a free Friday night bump Ash.
The mods on the Ric really open it up compared to standard 4004's and the bass is mint and rare. What's not to like.
Plus Ash is a top Basschatter too.
Second that...

Sorry mate the price can't be edited after posting, even by us - you can re-do the advert and I'll take this one down or leave it and see if anyone pays £13k. Give me 10% and I'll post some positive comments and remove any posts about a possible mistake 😆
Sure leave it as is , you never know someone might pay the £13k, 10% is fine by me 😎

I share your fears. I’m celebrating (?) my 50th and I would love a P bass from ‘73 but am scared to death of purchasing one from anyone other than someone such as Andy Baxter or a well known member on here, where the authenticity and provenance is known. 😬😬😬I may well be looking to sell my black 73 P bass on here in the very near future, only thing is that it does not have the original pickups which I have been waiting to come up on Reverb or Ebay, no such luck so far

I will have these please
