Fave guitar solo?
Basically the last 5 minutes is a solo, and it's a perfect solo, it's about melody not technical w***ery.
Kyuss, to me, is perfect rock music My favourite guitar solo is John Frusciante's in Dani California. That tone!!
4. Forgot to mention - the band setup is a four-piece: Guitar, Guitar/Keys, Bass, Drums
5. A question for all you ravers and clubbers! Sometimes with Fragile Sanity (mostly at one or two particular venues) we finish the night with a few dance tunes which often tend to go down well. We've been thinking about expanding on this for a while, as we are currently only playing three: I'm Not Alone - Calvin Harris Children - Robert Miles Insomnia - Faithless Children and Insomnia are both epic and classic tunes which everyone knows/remembers and always get the best reactions, but I'm Not Alone doesn't seem as popular as it did. We've decided that we'll replace that one this year, but none of us listen to much dance music, despite having fun playing it, so we are unsure what to play instead. Whatever we do replace it with needs ideally to be a timeless epic like the other two and not a 'fad' song, but Calvin did go down better when it was newer... Any ideas Basschat?
6. Under the assumption that what the OP means to ask is whether the Precision can be used in any kind of music in which the orchestration includes and Electric Bass then the answer is yes. ANY bass can be used for ANY genre of music. That does not mean that everybody would, as everything is subject to personal taste, but it is physically possible. Some basses may look silly on stage in certain situations but isn't the sound the most important thing? And even then, the instrument itself is only the thing with which you play the notes - the sound you hear is only achieved after processing through effects, eq, amp, speakers etc. so you could use any bass for any style as long as long as you are happy with the sound you get.
7. Available to hire for your convenience this Summer. (For those of you who have forgotten - that's the thing which used to happen between June-September). [s]GSOH, non-smoker, enjoys walks on the beach at sunset etc.[/s] Versatile player, good knowledge of music theory, all own gear and transport. Based in mid-Cornwall and willing to travel further for the right gig. At the moment I only have gigs booked on the first two weekends of July, 21st July and 25th August but other than that I am available anytime June-Sept due to other band member's personal commitments. Able to play all popular genres (Jazz is a work-in-progress!), can also sing backing vocals/harmonies or even lead vocals (if you're feeling brave/desperate!) Drop us a line Joe
8. I feel a prescription of La Bella Deep Talkin' flats coming on...
9. I'm using these at the moment http://www.proguarduk.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=46
For those on a budget, you may be interested to know that I managed to blag a set of filtered moulds from the NHS... Had an ear infection, went for a hearing test because I said I was a musician and sound engineer, blagged it!
Might give this a go myself!

New Zoom B3

Anybody using theirs live? I've got mine on the board now for synth, envelope filters, etc. but haven't used it in anger yet. Next week will be the first! It already comes in very handy for home practice and recording and for silent rehearsals.
11.
My latest...
Is that my old VT1? Liking the black look!
12. Just loaded up the Warwick RockCase which I bought from Ant. Item arrived quickly and as described, and just a good guy to do business with in general. Buy his stuff with confidence
13.
Compression <b>can</b> remove all dynamics, so the signal will seem to be all one volume, then with some EQing you can make the signal seem very large and punchy as there is no dynamics, hope that helps
While this is true, it depends how you set it up. I use mine just to level off harsh peaks and even out the sound sonewhat, but not as to squash it and eliminate dynamics completely. That would be silly
14.
This guy is a top bassist. To get that punchy tone he uses a tc electronic impact twin, which is an interface that you plug into when recording. They are great bits of kit and they sell for around £250. Hope this answers your question.
Thank you
15. That is indeed a very nice tone
16. Cool of course! Would Phil Lynott have played one if he thought it looked boring?
17. Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but do record company house bands like the Funk Brothers count in this list? If so then they have my vote. I can't imagine how amazing it must be to work with so many great musicians and to perform and record with different talents every day, and best of all - to be given free reign on the bass part!
18.
Personally I would put it down to the string spacing. I had a similar problem when I first went from 4 to 6 because the spacing was dramatically narrower. Never thought about the body chamfer though! You could try altering the spacing on the Warwick to match the Precision and see if it's more comfortable... Who knows, the fingerboard radius might even be the issue! Even if its not something you can 'fix', you will eventually get used to playing both basses. Good luck
Agreed, My first thought would be the spacing. Is it only this song that you struggle with? In your post you mentioned that when playing fingerstyle live, you mess up your timing. Maybe you just get a little carried away and pluck a little heavy - I know I do sometimes! If that is the case then try and reign it in a bit. Control > power
19.
...the longest boiler service I've ever had
Enough of that talk, this is a family forum!
20. +1 For Elixirs. I bought a bass from DeanoVW which had Elixirs fitted. I thought they were new strings until he said they were actually over a year old!
21. Oh man! If it was still the original dates I'd be right on it, but I don't think I'll be able to find a dep for our weddings before June! Best of luck to whoever gets this, sounds like a great crack!
