1. Love the band to bits - Live at the Rainbow is one of my fave live albums of all time. Apparently they are recording the Bilston gig tomorrow (28/04/09) for a live DVD
2. My remaining Lakkie Hi Bernmeister - how's the 55-01?
3. You could try these people http://www.bhefnerco.com/bass.htm I have a lovely ash Jazz bass body of theirs - goes very well with a Status unlined P-bass neck......... I would recommend trying the unlined P-bass neck too - just keep with it - play along to lots of familiar tracks at first, then try it in rehearsal - believe me - in no time at all things will start to gel.
4. Don't sell it - take it to Rob G - and get it made fretless !
5. 6.
Whats the scale length on this?
42 Inches
7. If you check out the Ergo website - see first post - will give you a flavour - with the right eq and the like on your amp or effects rack - you can get a very decent upright sound.....
8. Some piccies........
9. Great stuff Stewart, Glad your happy with the fretless neck - looks to be a fine combination. Just keep on at it. Play along with lots of records - not necessarily with fretless players. Do lots of gigs if you can too - the neck will become familiar in no time at all. All the best Bill

13. The Richard Thompson "Live in Austin Texas" DVD would be a good purchace. His tone on the track "Mingus Eyes" is just breathtaking - turn up loud !
14. Sold Stewart a fretless Fender Japan P-bass neck - paid very promptly and enjoyed good communications with him throughout the transaction. I have no problems in recommending him to any prospective buyer/seller. All the best - hope your fretless P-bass project goes smoothly - don't forget the piccies ! Bill
15. Saw this on Talkbass http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=521069 Looks damn tasty with the Chi-sonic ! More "normal" ones to come too I feel a build up of GAS........
16. Sorry - no trades - funds being used to get a Status fretless neck - just one of those itches you've got to scratch...........
17. Bump ! Willing to take £150 plus shipping now.........
18. ....saw this on e-bay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Japan-Precisi...A1%7C240%3A1318 Tried link and it appears to work. I would be patient and look on E-bay and the BC classifieds. I have bought basses from Japan through e-bay with seikosuru2003 and bluezy-guitars - had great quick service - you can contact them to look out for things for you too. You could also look for Jap bass bodies and necks on e-bay and make up your own one that way. Good luck in your hunt !
19. From 1976..... http://www.percyjones.net/ Scroll down a bit and you'll see the (You Tube) vid You'll have to put up with some drum noodling until 1:15 when Percy comes in (in his own inimitable style - harmonics blazing !) At 1.25 there is good footage of him grooving away - great stuff ! You can check out some soundclips of more recent stuff on his website too to see what he's up to these days - not everyones cup of tea I know but jeez I love his playing.
20. I'm a bit of an MK fan I must say - the Japan album "Tin Drum" album is as good a place as any to start. He's readily admits to Percy Jones being a big influence - indeed he got into fretless through hearing Percy Jones on Eno's Another Green World album. Another great British fretless player to try out if you haven't heard him before.....
21. Folks, Up for grabs is a Fender Japan Precision Bass neck. Unlined fretless with a rosewood fingerboard - excellent condition - includes tuners. This came from a PB62FL bass that I bought from Ishibashi in Japan in 2006 so is quite rare in these parts. "B" spec - so 1.65 neck width at the nut - somewhere in between a P-Bass and a Jazz. Would make for a beautiful fretless Fender project - be it P-bass or Jazz bass. I have a piccie of it on a jazz bass body here http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...panese+Fretless Looking for £175 plus postage If you need any more info please get in contact ! Cheers Bill
22. Folks, Just wondering if anyone out there has bought or got their hands on one of these yet. I ordered one from Thomman but the order kept getting pushed back so I cancelled. Mulling over whether to get one or not - makes a nice change from the Fender or Fender based instruments I've been into of late. Certainly the review on Bass Player TV on sonic grounds makes it a must. The looks are not to everyones taste but if it sounds that good who cares I say...... Two octaves - light as a feather and £199 or so - you can't really go wrong/
23. Will definitely be looking out for the book. Given the interest in these basses I'm surprised Fender never did a re-issue. You'd probably have to go down the Fender CS or Bravewood route now to get a new version of one. One day perhaps......
24. BK's work on the Laurie Anderson album "Strange Angels" is highly recommended - especially on the track "Monkeys Paw".
