2.
Both his book and the DVD that he bought out are very rewarding, and recommended.
Agreed - they are my favourite music based teaching book and my favorite teaching DVD.
 3.
Swapping a Ferrari for a tadpole These can be couriered, and surprisingly cheaply. Having said that, the courier in question - think of a type of package and one of man's closest relatives - lost one of mine for close to two months. It was found in the back of one of its vans in, IIRC, Suffolk
Yeah - great cab, took it in the deal for an Ibanez bass, based on the glowing reports. The best cab I've ever had but completely impractical for my saloon car.

 5. Selling my Cort Bitsa 5 String . I bought this to get back into rehearsing on a 5 string and having today picked up a posh 5 string I'm selling this one. Body is From a GB35 Neck is From a GB95 Nice, clean bass, I swapped the tuners swapped for some lighter weight ones - originals have been sold sorry. Weight (I remembered) - is 4.2kg (with replacement tuners) Good Points: Great starter / backup 5 string - Cort make great basses for the money as we know. Nice bound and block neck. Plays well, nice variantion from the J MM Pickups It's £160 Bad Points: Headstock is delaminanting a little - see pics, the attractive face of the headstock is a slim veneer. A couple of bridge grub screws have been attacked with a little too much force (not by me!) and are a little rounded, adjustment is with a screwdriver, or I flipped the saddle over and moved the screws by hand Comes with a terrible gig bag, will protect the bass to take home / ship but think of it as a consumable. New tuners have different hole positions - see pics. No trades on this one. Based in Chorley Lancashire - Can ship for £20.
 6. Good question, 20 years of playing, 99% fingers. Broken 3 maybe 4 strings into total, often the D String.....?
 7. Thanks for all the input, will see how I get on.
 8.
IF it were mine, I'd connect the 8ohm brass unit (which is your tweeter, btw) to known working amp at almost nil volume....you need to get to where the problem lies (I'm not convinced it's with the 'new' amp, btw, but you might need a co-operative amp tech any second now).
Yep - I think I'm getting to the limit of my capability now. The 'new' amp doesn't work as it should though...Copy and paste from above: Amp powers up taking the feed out of either of the speaker out connections just gives hum - into a known working cab Taking the feed out from tuner out gives the clean feed of the bass, none of the pre set buttons, EQ sliders have any effect here, so assume that the EQ section etc is bypassed. Taking the feed from Effects send -EQ sliders etc, presets work. So..works as it should in this instance, problem appears to be at the speaker out end. Speaker lead Jack to Jack i(from Speaker Out) into little guitar amp feed, either of them just gives hum. For info first time I connected it up I used a Jack to Speakon lead.
 9.
Do you have a known functional amp ? If so wire the speaker (EBS 10) directly to a speakon or jack socket. Try the 10" with this direct configuration. Hopefully all will be ok, the battery - cone movement test is encouraging. If you do not have a spare amp, do you have a multimeter. If you do, disconnect the 10" speaker from crossover etc and measure the dc resistance. 6 - 8 ohms is good, 0 ohms or infinity is not good. Suitable multimeters for this purpose are cheap if you do not have one.
Yes - Speakon from amp to speakon input. Touch the red wire to the back of the plug and speaker works. Which means what guys? Either the Tweeter crossover (the brass thing labelled as 8 ohms?) has blown or, the black cylindrical thingy (what is this) saying 250v DC has blown??
 10.
I would clip the wires off the crossover going directly to the main speaker and put a 9v battery to them. That will see if the main driver is dead as it should move with a 9v battery. Similar to this test https://youtu.be/xIMHGkxw72o
OK will do, when I'm home tonight - that's the red and black wires is it? Just clip them off, hold them against a 9v battery and see if the speaker moves?
 11.
Unscrew the rear panel. Fuse will be obvious of course but testing the crossover will need a bit more skills you could disconnect main driver and test with an ohm meter or 9v battery
If it helps (to help me) some pics:
 12.
Martyn, sorry to hear about this. Rather than ditch the EBS , have a word with GEE in Warrington. https://www.facebook...33545083395228/
Thanks Karl
 13.
@bagsieblue - You've not been sold a Trace head intended for use in the States (110v) have you?
No - its a 230v version. Had a little look further this morning, my findings: Connected the amp into my guitar practice amp Amp powers up taking the feed out of either of the speaker out connections just gives hum. Taking the feed out from tuner out gives the clean feed of the bass, none of the pre set buttons, EQ sliders have any effect here, so assume that the EQ section etc is bypassed. Cab is still dead.
 14.
Its a shame about the amp. But its really not cool at all about the cab been blown. I would assume the seller though would not sell an amp knowing that it was in such a condition??? However just looking at the cabs I'm wondering if hopefully it blew the tweeter crossover or a protection fuse if it has one!? Least if something like that has gone a fuse etc may fix it, or the main driver is ok hopefully then it could be wired up without the tweeter etc but it would still work alright.
Yep, I'd like to think amp was fine when sent and anything untoward happened in transit. How would I know if crossover or protection fuse. All I know is its dead....through my good amp. swap the leads over to other cab (not connected at the time) and that is fine.
 15. Yep - nightmare, In that it's effectively halved my gigging rig, I use a pair of Neo 110's. Refund on the amp should be easy, consequential loss of blowing my cab less so... I'm not an expert on these things but I think the power supply has failed, as the speakon connector and cab are dead!
 16. Arrgghh - I recently picked up and today received an Old Trace Head as a backup to my main gigging head. Connected everything up - switched on, amp hummed and hissed and died - also killing one of my EBS Neo 110. Ohmage and everything else was fine - pulling a 8 Ohm load. Connecting up my main head to cabs shows one of my EBS Neo 110 is completely dead. Have reported to seller - hoping for a good outcome!
 17.
A bit of a beast then!!
Yep - Sounds like a beast because it is a beast.
 18.
Love the thought of giving this a try, dare I ask, what does it weigh?? Is it 4 ohm?
Yes - 4ohm, 450w - weight, as a estimate from my lifting it into and onto the back seat (singlehandedly) of the car (and from googling around) is 40-45Kg.
 19.
Oh, Edmund. Can it be true?... Original Thread
Haha .... Seriously guys - great guy to deal with, great bass, great price - Why is this still here???
 20. Collection only and no trades thanks. Absolutely brilliant cab, one 15", one 10", two 6" speakers with adjustable tweeter. Why am I selling - its too big for me to move around easily in my saloon car.. Used this at an outdoor festival last week - sounded huge because it is huge. Good condition, considering age and use I believe its the original 80s version as it has the single input and switch for horn (off/low/high). This is not the later Bi ampable version. Bad bits: Small crack/ tear in one of the 6" Drivers, pic below Some scuffing to the covering, but nothing major. Can send more pics, details to anyone interested. 21. Zoom B9 has a lot of amp sims built in - and easily tweak able too boot. The very best amp sims I've come across (admittedly not in a pedal) is the Peavey Bam 210 Head or Combo.
 22. Best budget P bass for me is a Farida P Bass.
