  1. OK hold on... there seems to be some people waking up angry this morning for no reason.... vain seems to be being mentioned a lot....quit playing etc etc.... I'm the least vain person out there I wear prescription glasses for driving as its my longer vision that is slightly off, so that takes care of that. I can then see perfectly. Close up I'm absolutely fine, what I'm not fine with is tiny small pedal displays on my zoom ms60b+ which is the size of a normal boss pedal on a dark stage with awkward colour contrasts, and the angle it is shown. So I have the juxtaposition of the glasses would probably be fine for reading the pedal and set list, but absolutely awful for playing the bass, as it would look all out of perspective, ie a lot closer to me and larger than it actually is. The question is/was relating to what ideas/tricks/methods do people use when father time starts catching up. Ie larger screen displays, higher screens, audio cues, different straps.. .. Etc
  2. OK, so as many of us will probably have already come across, or will do soon.... Little awkward bits of getting older are now taking effect on being in a band. Like what? We'll, my main two are: 1. (this kills me to say..) weight of basses. Even though I'm fine with the weight, I can really feel it when the gig is over. So, a lighter bass for longer gigs (we do an average of 90 mins in one go) is an option. Any other ideas? We are fully no backline and iems so I've already saved on that. 2. And this is causing the most hassle.... Eyesight. Its going worse as I get older, but now I can't really see a set list on the floor. Worse, I can't see what patches I'm on on my (albeit small) zoom ms60b+. The thing is, we are in a touring band (theatres /larger venue etc) where the look is just as much as the playing, so I can't have a stand, or anything obvious. I don't want to wear glasses, but if I did it still wouldn't work as I can see fine close up, but not further away. So... on this one I don't know what to do? Get an ipad? A larger pedal with a large display so I can read it? (we do switch through a lot of different patches and sounds). Any other tips people have come across?
  3. Hi, does anyone have any experience of using a midi foot controller with the newer zoom ms60b+. Is it just a case of connect the two? Will any midi foot controller work? Any help appreciated.
  4. For me it's not the sites for new gear that have killed them off. It's the massive saturated market for second hand gear. Right on your doorstep. You can literally get anything you want for a fraction of the price, and if you can't, it's only a short wait and/or travel until you do.
  5. I do like that. Mad but cool. Absolutely love that neck marker design. Reminds me of space somehow.
  6. Surely the answer for pino's sound etc would be to use what pino used in the 80s - what made him famous?
  7. Best advice I can give is 2 things. 1. Get a sound guy. 2. If you don't want to get a sound guy, then have ONE member of the band you all trust to set the sound at each venue. Every venue is different so it needs doing or tweaking every time. Once he's happy, you all should be happy. Then ignore anyone in the crowd telling you "this was too low" or "that needs turning up". You've no idea who these people are, what state their hearing is in, or if they even know what's coming from where. There will always be people telling you somethings wrong. Problem is if you asked 10 people they'd all say 10 different things. Either put your faith in a sound guy or put your faith in ONE band MEMBER (if you all get involved you'll all have different opinions). Don't put it in the hands of someone in the crowd you don't know.
  8. In reality way too heavy. We were doing a lot of shared quick turn over gigs and festivals and it was impractical for that. It's such a thing of beauty that you really want to protect it when you get one, and buy a hard case, and it's the case ironically that makes them very heavy. If I was still playing backline I'd have one again in a heart beat. Great amps. And Laney were great too with any questions etc.
  9. Cool amps! Used to love mine.
  10. I've got one of these now. They really are excellent.
  11. Fantastic light with a whole range of lighting effects. Including static, chase, fade, presets, pre done shows, dmx, stand alone. Whatever you need. Its literally x9 power led lights in a 1m unit. Pick up Leyland
  12. I have a few backdrop stands for sale. These are aluminium and can be lifter with one hand. They solt together then screw tight, no tools required. Literally a 2 minute set up if that. Ideal for banners or lightweight curtains etc. Adjustable (internal poles slide in and out) upto 3m per pole. I can supply in: 3mx3m - £75. X2 base units x2 uprights X1 cross piece. X2 adaptors. 3mx6m - £95. X3 base units x3 uprights x 2 cross pieces. X3 adaptors. Note: these are for lightweight items, not lighting / speakers etc. Pick up Leyland Lancashire
  13. Harley Benton MM84a musicman stingray style bass. This is probably in my top 2 basses as surprising as it sounds. Its 2 humbucker, 5 way switch, full 3 band eq, 24 frets, looks and sounds great. In great condition. I've gigged this at decent sized tribute gigs and it's sounded great. You'll not find a better, more versatile bass anywhere for this price. £95. Pick up Leyland Lancashire
  14. I have the sire z3 which is both passive and active. Centered, there's no difference at all.
  15. Yes, I've used mine for the last month at rehearsal and used it live at a club with our 80s band. Honestly sounded great. Absolutely nothing to worry about live at all. I didn't even adjust any dials - plug in and play.
  16. I had the Digbeth head and 4x10 vertical cab. Great amps. All the cabs are different though (410v) (410 box) (212) so check out what's best for you. Great heads, I'd buy one again definitely.
  17. Quality, padded gig bag. Good condition. Well padded. Handles, straps, pockets. Grab a bargain. Pick up Leyland Lancashire
  18. Everyone knows what these are. Excellent kit. Pretty much a sansamp clone. They do sound great. Also fantastic for backup, a Di box or using to get you bass from a jack tto xlr connection. Pick up Leyland Lancashire
  19. Just a note on the batteries. I changed mine in the Z3 and the originals (presumably from Europe) where a couple of mm longer. Therefore the UK ones didn't fit as they're a drop in system rather than a connect system. So, to get it to work put them in then just add a bit of foam or similar to the back so they can't move around. Its literally mms but makes all the difference and stops them slipping away from the contacts.
  20. Same here - I had one. Couldn't get rack ears. Tried markbass, completely ignored me. Never used them again. As a fix, you could buy a rack shelf and velcro it to that. I think that's what I did in the end.
  21. I had the 800bb and absolutely loved it. Power power power and lovely tone. Light as a feather, but sturdy. Very difficult to get anything other than a good sound.
  22. Just down the road from me. Great place. Often forgotten or overlooked which is a shame.
