1.
The tone for hysteria is a Sawtooth with some fuzz, I think. However I get a really good tone by running my Little Big Muff and then turning the mids and treble right down (you'll still need some of each though, so don't turn it right off). For whom the bell tolls is easy, fuzz with quite high tone and then slowly rock the wah back and forth. [edit] This guy does the job quite well one a Boss GT-6B, try PM'ing him. There's clips of both of these over at talkbass.com.
2. Doesn't work with the www, remove that bit: http://clearance.soundcontrol.co.uk/index.php
3. I'm up for this, it would be great to meet some of you after being on here for a while. I'll bring my Yamaha fretless (equipped with quarter pounder pickup) and my pedal board (if anyone's interested in trying out an EBS Multicomp, Digitech Bass Synth Wah, Humphrey Bad Monkey and DHA VT2 Dual Custom!). Shoot me a PM if anyone's driving up from London and has room for a small one in the car!
4. I've got the 300W version, I bolted some heavy duty wheels to the bottom that I bought for under a tenner on ebay and now I can cart it around with ease. Thinking of getting a dog lead for it so I can take it for walkies.
5. Sounds to me like it just makes your signal a bit thin and weak sounding. With guitar and bass, I preferred the sound before the pedal was turned on! Am I alone here?
6. 2 French Toasts on there?! How do you have em set up? I have one, the regular fuzz is ok, but not really able to use the octave up cos it cuts too much low end. Would like to try it with a blender though!
7.
i've been wondering about one of those...you reckon it's worth it ?
I just got one for £40 off the basschat forum, unopened in it's box. Well worth it for that price. The envelope filter sounds pretty good, and the octaver tracks really well. I've not really found much of a use for the synth sounds, but if you fuzz them up they can sound really filthy. If you're not sure, wait around for a second hand one, that way you can get your money back!
8. If you've got £300+ to spend, try and find an old AKAI Deep Impact, or for £60 get a Digitech Bass Synth Wah. I have the latter and it can put out some awesome sounds. It has a mode where it has 2 effects on at once, a sub-octave plus an envelope filter, put that before my £20 Danelectro French Toast fuzz pedal and you have a wicked effect for DnB. Electro Harmonix Bass Multi Synth is also meant to be a good one, but not heard myself. Zoom B2.1u has synths and with an expression pedal which could be interesting, but not sure how well they track your notes or how good they sound. I have a Line6 amp with built in synth and an external FBV express expression pedal, but the tracking is horrible.
9. Here's my first board. Spider Engineering case, with rubber feet added to the wooden platform to allow the cables to go underneath. Chain is: Ibanez LU20 Tuner -> EBS Multicomp -> DigitechBass Synth Wah -> DHA VT2 Dual Custom Bass -> Aphex Bass Xciter The massive power supply is the 12v one supplied by DHA, and my mini 9v Johnnyshredfreak supply sits on top. The power strip is right angled so that the leads can tuck in down the side of the board to keep things tidy. All of this has been bought within the last 6 weeks, letting off some serious GAS! 10. LOL, I'm surprised my work haven't blocked it yet, seeing as I spend a great deal of my working hours on here and on talkbass!

Why, do your kids have afros?
13. Just had word that my DHA VT2 is being despatched on Monday. If it's as badass as I think it's gonna be, I may put my Humphrey modified Bad Monkey for sale or trade up here!
14. Damn you! I'm still waiting for mine, I ordered the exact same pedal!
15. Do you have a home contents insurance policy that covers accidental damage? If not, get some!
16. If you need to go out and buy new stuff, most corner shops do 6 Kronenburgs for £4 - £5. Drink those and you'll sound much better.
17.
how would i go about setting soundforge up to use it?? i tried changin it in the preferences, but when i changed it from windows sound mapper to that, it no longer playbacked audio, just recorded, which is obviously prettttty useless lol
Not sure as I haven't used Soundforge in a while... I do most stuff in Sonar where it lets you select which kind of sound driver you want to use, ASIO, WDM, MME, Directsound, etc. I'll have a look when I get a chance as I still have it installed on my music pc!

GLX pedals

The cheap Moen 'tesco-value-boutique' pedals on ebay are meant to be really good as well, but not laid ears on one myself...
19. Open your device manager, select 'show devices by resource' and check no other cpu hungry devices are sharing the same IRQ. I had a top notch EMU 1616m but I couldn't use it as my laptop was set up so that the cardbus shared the same IRQ as the graphics card and some other devices. It crackled like you describe, but not all the time. If you're using your built in crappy laptop soundcard, you can improve performance big time by installing the ASIO4ALL driver and set Soundforge up to use the ASIO driver instead of Directsound that you may be using now, that's how I started out recording.
