1. I use the heavy duty sticky backed Velcro available from Homebase. Comes on a 1m x 50mm roll, sticks to the board and pedals no problem and is so strong I sometimes have to use a knife to get the pedal of the damn board!
2. Do you play guitar by any chance? Wanna swap for the guitar version of the MXR Auto Q which I just stupidly bought by mistake?! :brow:
3. Thanks for the endorsement Tayste! I have updated my original post as I have just realised I have the guitar version of the MXR Auto Q and not the bass one!

Octaver

You're in luck mate! MI Audio Polyanna is coming out, someone mentioned it's a clone of the Pearl pedal: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=425910
5. I haven't got any experience with any of those pedals I mentioend, but there are e few threads containing clips over at talkbass. I'm after a huge wall of sound type fuzz with tons of low end that's woolly and warm as opposed to harsh/synthy/buzzy and the Supercollider clips just did it for me. The Attack Goat sounds totally different, less full-on, and the blend can make be used to give a clean sound with a subtle background fuzz on top of your original signal. The other pedal I really liked the sound of was the Pickle Pie B version, but that costs a little more than the others. I guess we need some more clips of the El Grande to make a good comparison, all I've heard so far is the Namm video and I wasn't all that impressed.
6. For that money you can get 2 other really good pedals from the US - Wounded Paw Attack Goat, Messdrive Hybrid Plus or Earthbound Supercollider (which I have on order!). Then you'd get a lot more sounds out of the 2 pedals!
7. As far as I know it does everything in stereo, including looping. I know Tayste on here has one, perhaps he'll chime in. I watched the video on the EHX site earlier and now I want it bad!
8. That's my fault for causing confusion whilst derailing the original thread to talk about my new 442 pedal! So ignore that one, it's probably not the the sound the OP was looking for (Meatball), not sure how close the Pignose comes though...

New DHA pedal

Good work Dave, I'm sorely tempted! Got a photo of the EQ-Drive? Also, is the EQ switch-on-and-offable with no volume drop when engaged, and does it act flat at 12 o'clock? These are the issues I had with the previous passive EQ design. cheers
10. It is, yes, and I agree, I wish you could switch it off. I'm not sure it's a discrete part of the circuit that can be switched on and off. I wonder if the Tech21 Landmark amp head has speaker sim on the speaker outputs or just the XLR out? Anyway, other preamp boxes I want to try out are the Hartke Bass Attack, Tronographic Rusty Box, and Aguilar Tone Hammer. I'm interested in the Rusty Box as it's supposed to be an agressive sound, and Dangerboy on this forum is a fan of it and it made him sell his Sansamp. The Aguilar Tone Hammer is brand new and looks promising too...
11.
Just seen a review of one of these and it looks impressive. Seen some sound clips and it soundsp retty decent too. Anyone know where I can try one? I hope they're not like Sansamp Bass Drivers in that they get bigged up, but are infact utterly sh*te and useless!
I don't think they're over here yet. Digital Village have them up for £150 on their site but I don't think they are in stock. There is a guy on ebay selling the other character pedals for $150 - I have emailed him and he says he's gonna get a batch of VT Bass pedals in 2 weeks time, you can pre-order with him if you like. I'm thinking of getting one, and if I don't like it I'll be able to sell it on easily over here and perhaps even make a profit! Contact this man if you want one: http://myworld.ebay.com/proaudioland?&...E:X:RTQ:GB:1181
12.
ooo i also found a fuzz/chorus/autowah or filter combo when playing hard or harmonics gives crazy feedback. not really drone style but the best pedal i have used (admitedly that is not many) for getting weird noises including wah and octave is the Digitech BSW.
Stick a high gain clean boost in front of the BSW and it goes crazy. It ends up tracking noise from the pickups which changes as you move around in front of the amp, twiddling the knobs produces some good sounds. Turn the sensitivity right up and the filter triggers over and over like a stuttering effect. Then when you play a note the noise stops and your note plays, then as the note fades the random noise washes back in. Put chorus/delay after it and you're in business. I sold mine but loved playing with it like this and miss it now!
13. I've not tried a POD, but I'm really impressed with the filter on my Line6 Lowdown amp (it's modelled after the Q-Tron). Sounds better than the Zoom B2 and Digitech BSW which are the only other filters I've ever had to compare it too. But I've got a tasty Tonefactor 442 filter in the post, I'm hoping it pisses all over the Line6 one!
14.
If you go to a Maplin store and what you want isn't in stock they'll order it in and phone you when it arrives. They did for me once in Cambridge, anyway, don't know if all branches do it. N84AR footswitch 13mm deep 4 off HF90X jack socket about 20mm square x jackpluglenght internally Should all fit in a LH70M diecast case...but if you go down the shop you can check.
That box has internal dimensions of 96 x 46 x 21 which is small, but I think I can go smaller. There's a couple of options, GU61R with dimensions of 46 x 46 x 27 and N87BQ which is 53x38x27. I'll let you know how it goes, in the meantime, keep the suggestions coming!
15. I didn't bother checking Maplins but actually they do have a wide range of enclosures. I doubt the stores would stock the entire range though so I'd have to order them. I'm not sure how small I can go while still fitting all the parts in there though... it might have to be trial and error unless anybody else has built a similar device already and can give me some advice?
16. I want to build a matchbox sized true bypass loop pedal to use with a Dunlop 105Q to avoid tone suck when not in use. I've seen a thread on Talkbass where a few people have modded the pedal but I'd rather not do that unless I had some very good instructions to follow! So I want to build a box as small as possible that can contain 4 jacks and a stomp switch, preferably of similar width to the wah, but low profile in the other dimensions. I don't think I'll bother with a LED and power socket, I wanna keep it simple. Does anyone know a good store where I can get the enclosure, switch and jacks (preferably from the same place to save on postage)? If anyone's seen any really tiny enclosures that would fit the bill please let me know. cheers, Dan
17. Isn't the Diago 18v adaptor just like a lead with a dc socket at one end and a plug at the other, so you can use it with any power supply that has a high enough current rating? The Godlyke Power Pump does the same thing but has adjustable voltage but you can only get em shipped over from the US. I was thinking of getting one of these to power a 12v DHA pedal off of a 9v daisy chain but I'm not sure how well it'd work.
18. Yeah, I though of getting the kit but for an extra £20 I can get a built VT1 including a power supply. Is the kit the same as the VT1 standard but with an added colour control? It would be fun to try and build it but I know I'm rubbish at soldering. There's a book called 'The Art Of Soldering' available from Maplins if you're in need of some good pointers though!
19. How hot is the output on these? I might jump on this but previously I had a Seymour Duncan Quarterpounder that was too loud and clipped the input of my Aphex Xciter pedal.
20. Boss Line Selector LS-2. Many uses out of this pedal - you can also set the relative volumes of your 2 basses with it too.
