1. Bump - here is a closer pic & I'll get more pics soon Many thanks!
2. <p>Hello, I have a fantastic Ashdown Klystron C410-500 (500w) combo that was a flagship amp and part of a limited "classic" range Ashdown did a few years back. . Its basically a ABM head with all the usual features, Valve Drive, Compressor, EQ, Sub Octave, bal DI, FX loop, Footswitch Etc... . It has a set of 4X10 neodymium speakers + horn which sets it apart from the normal ABM's and makes it sound amazing. . It also has a custom road ready flight case that I had built from castle cases and cost nearly £300. . Its in very good nick, a couple dings on the amp itself as I did not always have the flight case however nothing major, the flight case has dings but thats what its for. . The amp works perfectly and I had it looked over by a tech recently to see if it needed a service or anything, which it did not. . I think they are quite rare. . There is a pic in my avatar on the left there - however I can provide more when am back at home, at work currently! I would be very reluctant to sell as it has my perfect sound and looks awesome however as my band dont have a van its becoming a little too large to carry around and its trashing the boot of my car! I would be looking for £675 I would be up for trading it with a Fender Jazz (I really want the Marcus Miller) or Sandberg or warwick or open to other offeres
3. I have a 2006 US standard Jazz and it feels and sounds miles better than my mates GL Jap jazz, matter of opinion I guess and getting a "good" one or not.
4. To be honest the best sound coming through on the alien ears is the drums (Andre the owner of alien ears is a drummer), they sound absolutely fantastic, however I'm more than satisfied with the bass sound. I got an audiologist to do my impressions (I messed up the kit they send, its not easy) therefore they are a perfect fit and after a while I forget they are even in.
5. Ashdown have just brought this out , not heard it yet tho! http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?section=pedal&ID=277
6. Yeah triple drivers are the way to go on Bass and Drums. I got some AE3's from Alien ears and they are simply amazing, I wrote about them on here a few weeks ago and will do write up on performance soon. Sounds like ACS are a good company as well.
7. I have a 90s, 2eq eb sting ray, sounds ace, I used to have all the pots turned up full but I fried my pre amp after about 5 years and had to replace, I back them off a bit now Never played an pre eb sting ray, on my to do list tho
8. Knowing allot of people and band members who work in music retail they always say get these... http://www.thomann.d...ower_2_plus.htm Their expensive but all of your power requirements will be sorted forever. I've seen cheaper power supply units used in the past and at many venues you can/will get noise issues. I'm hoping to do the same soon and jump into the world of pedal boards, much easier when your on a multi band night and need quick change overs. Cheers.
9. Ace! I'll look out for a chin wag

11. Well its been a while but I finally ordered some Alien Ears CE3's with the detectable chord and engraved case. Following the order I quickly received an E-mail with my "Interactive Invoice" and instructions on what to do next. Couple of weeks went by and I received my impression Kit, by which time the guitarist out of the band decided he was going to purchase he CE2's with the "Ambient Vent Feature" which I believe is a port into the headphones to increase or decrease outside noise, very snazzy! So we decided to do the impressions at the same time and save some money on postage. At this point let me warn you if your deciding to get Alien Ears, dont bother with the free impression kit unless you feel confident in doing it, we made a right dogs dinner, soon used up all the material and it ended up in the bin! Oh and it costs $15 + $50 delivery for a new kit! Not to be deterred I found a local audiologist who did the impressions for us, its cost us £35 each and they were perfect! So I would recommend going down this route and factoring the cost into your budget (Something I did not and I got a bit a grief from the missuses!) We sent the impressions back to the US and it cost £3.80 through the post office. I also put low a value on of £1 to avoid tax. That was a couple of weeks ago and checking the database on the website Alien Ears have now got the impressions and they have been accepted, the check does not provide an update of the actual manufacture stage. Looking forward to trying them out and I'll post another update on the performance Just wanted to share my experiences with everyone and hope it helps. I had no idea how this was going to pan out and after spending over £300 I was quite anxious. Many thanks. Base.
12. Excellent, I am seriously thinking of going for the Alien ears, i recon cost will be about £260/£270 factoring in sending the impression kit back which does not seem to cost that much, my only worry is any tax or import costs i may get hit on when the package gets sent, athough it will only be a small size. mmmmmm? Many thanks Mikey.
13. Hello - rest of my band use IEM's and i'm thinking about joining them, having looked around and read for a number of weeks now I want to try and get some custom fit ones... http://www.minerva-hearingprotection.co.uk/dual-driver-custom-ear-monitors.html Thinking of getting a set of these and just wondered if they will be ok for Bass playing? I know the triple drivers would be better but price is getting too much at that point! Any thoughts would be a massive help! Many thanks. Mikey.
14. Anyone ever used them, any experience? With me ordering from UK am not sure? Good price though and they send custom kit, i worked out will only cost about £10 to send it back. AE3's http://www.alienears.com/ Many thanks.
15. Sigh...if only i had the money - my dream bass, good luck!
16. I've played that bass - I remember when he made it For a very short period of time I worked in a music shop in Mac and it was up for sale in there, so on lunch time I could not resist and had a go. He's a top bloke Warwick - today I always go to him for any setups or repairs, I'm about to ask him to do the internation on my Taylor poohstick. PS. my mates got one of these cost him around £750 / £800, mmm am not sure about this web site tho - seems too good to be true.... http://oneclickmulti...-lee-jazz-bass/ Cheers.
17. Excellent - thank you for all the replies - I never thought of things like re-sale value etc.. so def food for thought. Apologies I prob put the order of reasons wrong at the top - I def want a 2nd bass for a different sound from the music man and a Jazz would really kick ass on some of our newer songs - finally it is a safety net in case anything goes wrong, touch wood but in 15 yrs my music man has never let me down apart from the odd snapped string. The Luthier is called Warick Stevenson - he is very good. PS this is a very nice dilema to have, i'm very lucky Kind Reagrds.
18. Hello, In March I will have enough cash saved up to purchase a 2nd bass (Around £750), my main reasonings for this... 1. I want a 2nd bass on stage in case anything goes t£$%s up! 2. I currently have a classic Music Man which is a great active, punchy, funky sounding bass but would also like a good passive sounding bass for those songs that require more growl and classic tone. 3. The 2nd bass will also give me more versatility in the recording studio So... up to now i'm really thinking about getting a fender Jazz which having played friends i know it will deliver what I'm after - there a great asset to have. However I have another option - I know a local Luthier with a very good reputation who for the same price will build me a hand made bass with the straight thru neck and passive electronics. Basically I was hoping to get other folks opinions, thoughts and experiences before deciding what to do... Many thanks! Mikey.
19. I have one of these (C410H-500), not many of them seem to be abt, I think the Klystron range was bit of a limited Anniversary / Classic edition. Its the Neodymium speakers which sets these apart from the standard ABM Ashdowns, my god they are really good, you can just keep turning the thing up and she wants more! I can vouch and say they sound awesome. You get a decent valve drive, eq, sub & compressor as well. I went out and paid £200 for a custom flight case - the classic style tolex can get dinged and scratched when carrying about, I did a couple on mine then decided fork out the for the case. If you contact ashdown directly they will sell you the tolex to replace / fix if required. Good to hear other people think there good - I love mine and £500 here is a good price,. Mikey.
20. Ahh of cause, much simpler idea, nice one
21. Great, johnnyshredfreak is a cracking little find, I can get everything I need, power supply, daisy chain and power lead. What was putting me off the pedaltrain was the mounting cost once you start adding on the power accessories, plus I was wary of what fits underneath etc... But I'm keen now having seen that. The shop I was going to purchase the ashdown board from still have my cash so I may speak to them first and see if they have any in and if I can negotiate a deal. Many thanks!
22. Another options would be this... http://www.thomann.de/gb/behringer_pb1000_pedal_board.htm
23. I do like the pedaltrains and I have seen them in action. What other powerblocks can fit underneath? Many thanks!
