1. Recently have taken this off my board and haven't missed it - the style of music I'm currently playing doesn't really call for it and I have for the time being given up on my aspirations to be be John Davis or Time Lefevbre... Great Octave pedal, tracking is excellent and the distortion mode is actually pretty usefull too - great for synth type bass lines. The octave sound is huge and very full - great for more modern pop/rock/hip hop stuff. In excellent condition - not a mark on it. Velcro on the bottom that can be removed - comes with the box and manuals etc £85 delivered. If you'd like photos I can e-mail some over to you just drop me a pm Thanks
2. If pictures are required I can e-mail you them - having a problem uploading any - think i have used my quota!
3. Deciding to move this on.. it really is an amazing pedal, with a lot of scope for usuable sounds and very nice gated synth sounds available but I've found that im not using it to it's potential and have found what I really need is just a simple filter pedal. In excellent condition, with manual, charger and box etc £100 posted. I will get some photos up as soon as I can
4. He's doing his own thing that also appeals to non bass players and non musicians - he connects with people which is what I think music is about. Also lets not forget Thundercat isn't all that new.... As far as I can remember he was playing bass for suicidal tendencies and snoop dog I think in the early 2000s.... If some bass players don't consider what Thundercat plays as bass playing then I don't know what to think about patitucci, janek gwizdala, Stanley Clarke etc.... He's just pushing things as a solo artist. I agree there is a retro feel to his songs which I really like! I should also add I love the greats of the 60s/70s that I grew up listening to from my dads record collection as well as new virtuoso bass players.
5. This is up for sale again... previously thought that when I got time I would buy a new switch and replace it myself... turns out i'm incredibly lazy and feel the darkglass tone isn't for me anymore... bump!
6. Www.trickfishamps.com They're not available in the UK yet but you can order them through Paul Sips at Paul Bass Matters in Nijmegan, who will be able to give you good advice and comparisons to other similar price range amps.
7. It is an amazing and very loud rig! It replaces the Eden WTP 600 and D410XLT... Although a very nice set up this new Trickfish has blown it away! I have used just my trusty, battered Fender Jazz 75 Reissue with quarter pounders and badass bridge. I have Warwicks, musicman snd FGN basses I could run through it but I tend to use my jazz for everything so haven't had the chance yet!
8.
Lightweight gear = lightweight tone!
I think once upon a time that would be justified but not anymore. I recently made the switch from all valve, to hybrid and now solid state class D with the Trickfish. There is more low end, punch, heft or whatever than the hybrid Eden and I felt that punched more than the ad200b - it's also the warmest head I've ever played - go figure! Those amps are all great however, and people have different tastes but I don't think there is anything missing with regards to tone anymore with light gear.
9. Just got home from my first gig with the Trickfish .5k Bullhead and 210v cab. The setup sounded killer in the house at low volume so was nervous about it performing well in a real life gig situation. I was not disappointed! The depth and punch of these amps is incredible, did not miss my Eden at all - Infact it was much punchier and fuller sounding than the Eden. There is lot of power on tap even at 8ohms... I was just over half on master volume with a 7 piece funk band. The EQ is sweet, very useable and musical and the different frequency options for each band very useful - Infact just flicking a few switches leaving the controls where they were altered the tone and enabled me to switch up the tones for certain songs. The tone, our guitarist described as incredibly warm and it just fitted into the mix and filled out the overall sound without being overbearing. Playing licks in the higher register came through full and defined. The tone is very warm and would describe as thick whilst very clear and detailed/modern...not woolly sounding at all... Closest thing I could compare it to is playing through a neve desk - it's not overdriven but there's some harmonics or something going on that just makes it sound very fat. Biggest surprise was the DI out... When we plugged it into the desk we couldn't believe how much low end there was... I thought that I had post EQ dmselected so pushed the switch in and got earth shattering low end. I've never experienced that from the Eden head di, sansamp or le bass and I found myself using less octave pedal than usual!! Obviously I'm very happy with the amp, it's the tone I've been looking for, for a while now and I'm really impressed that such a no frills amp could be so powerful. There's something to be said for s simple piece of gear that just sounds great... In the same way the vanderklay gear is designed I guess!
10. Ok so the amp arrived this afternoon, the cab is arriving tomorrow. I tested it through my Eden 410xlt. This amp is incredibly light and stylish and very solid in its construction. The sound of this amp has completely flawed me! warm, articulate, clear and very even across the strings and fretboard. The EQ points are amazing, and the EQ goes a long way with just small adjustments. Even flat my tone is very warm and nice - with the Eden and other heads I would have to delve into the EQ to cut out unwanted honk... It's almost bizarre just having it sound good flat - I never believed those guys who said they left their EQ flat! Then any EQ adjustments add to the tone and shape it to your ears/situation. Whilst playing, the amp almost had a plushness/pillowy low end as if it were a tube amp and a very sweet clear hi end. The amp does not sound dry or clinical at all, and has a nice bit of heft to it. If you drive the gain into the red a bit the tone thickens up nicely without getting into distortion. I think I've found the holy grail of amps for me. It's the tone I've always wanted - it's early days of course and won't gig it until Thursday but as far as sitting in a pretty crappy sounding room (my kitchen) I am so far really very happy!!
11. I've just ordered the .5k but that wont be much help for you... why dont you contact paul at bass matters? he should be able to help.
12.
Well good luck with it. Have to say though that a 2x10 cab weighing in at 56lbs isnt exactly "light weight" in my book.
Haha, well lightweight for me.... at almost half the weight of my d410XLT it'll be a welcome reduction in weight and far easier to pick up/ get through doors etc Thanks Cuzzie and Jus lukin - If i get time I will do a video of the amp - reports coming in on talkbass that it can be overdriven when pushed unliked the 1k - which I am interested in finding out.
13. After months of deliberating which light-weight amp to go for, looking at EBS, Aguilar, Genzler and Eich I went with the Trickfish Bullhead .5K and 210v cab this morning, putting the order in with Paul at Bass Matters in Nijemegan. Obviously, I have done this with some risk... I have never played the amp but through speaking with Paul and the guys of Trickfish, along with their very useful online demonstrations and great reviews I felt it was the right amp for me. It was also the case of having used Ampeg, Orange, EBS, Aguilar, EA all of which are great amps, the tone was never quite what I was after which helped me choose Trickfish! The simplicity of the the amp really appeals to me. I can't wait for it to arrive - I have been wanting to down size to a lighter cab and class D head for a while from my heavy eden 410xlt and wtp600 and I'm looking forward to the easier solo load in to venues!!
