1. Have a bump on me too for: Excellent Bass Model Photography All superb Your settings for the shoot are spot on...I particularly like the first one (who wouldn't) and your shot of the headstock. This looked tricky! Superb studio shots indeed. Much respect sir
2. Adding my opinion... Can't go wrong... I have recently purchased one of these and it's now my favorite bass. The neck is quick, bit fatter as everybody else has said but it's no issue. The maple board is lovely to use and the body wood (Alder) on mine anyway is awesome. Love the reverse tuners (look great, no issue to get used to) and the bass is pure Precision. I am sure even Roger Waters or JJ Burnel would be impressed. The mojo is strong in this one.... Here is a picture of mine: Good luck with the hunting...
No problem. Here's one to get you started. I was involved with this one. In fact i think it was this thread that sold me on getting one. MIM 50's classic thread
3. Hi, Yes I agree...a plug in and play policy has to be good advice. I will wait and see how the restoration goes and then re-assess it. TTFN
4. Hi Guys Really appreciate the comments. Actually on second look I totally agree with you all. I would intend playing it yes so would have to be good to play and yes, also a potential investment as well (eventually) I guess. I will probably make an offer when he has told me what he thinks he wants for it when it's ready. I'll get some pics when he does posted here and if I could ask all your opinion I would be so grateful. Thanks all.....again....
5. How about this then.... I may get the opportunity of buying the late Patrick Waite's of Musical Youth's Fender Precision. Thing is, how much would you pay for it? I have little info yet except: It comes complete with a metal ally flight case Bridge ashtray It's a 70's Precision in what looks like custom shop red (as played in "pass the dutchie on the left hand side) here: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=xt6V3Ic72nE It has a fair amount of gig damage to it, plenty of cigarette burns on the neck and plenty of road damage to the body. The neck has a kink at the nut which may truss out, not sure. The board is a rosewood and the frets have the appropriate amount of wear on them for the year and usage. The pickguard has a small break in it under the jack plug and that piece is missing. I haven't played it as my friend needs to prep it. the tuners have some main shaft nuts missing (2). This is a tough one, I like it, it's a no brainer that it is valuable but what does everybody else think? I can assure all that it really was Patrick's, I have confirmation on this. Any of your thoughts would be very appreciated....(I'll try and get some pics soon)
6. Well... What can I say - this is just stunning. Utterly gobsmacking. Good luck with the sale, this would look amazing next to my humble collection of Leoaxes. I bet that maple board is like glass....awesome bass mate. If it should remain with you I could be interested next year when I have more dosh...
7. Awesome! The wood is pure beauty....I am tempted but alas too close to Crimbo.. Good luck with the sale, the body deserves a good maple neck and vintage tuners. Wow what a golden opportunity! Bloody GAS!
8. Thanks mucho - it has to be said it is a very pretty bass and I am beginning to have second thoughts, still...gas is a terrible thing! ...hmmm
9. Aha... that works!
Just a blipvert honest...the matrix has you
11. Just to add my voice to the fray... Totally agree, I have recently picked up a MIM Classic 50's P 2006 from my mate at the Guitar shop for just £350 and it's unmarked and perfect and is the best P I have ever played and set eyes on and shock horror it's a MEX!!!!! My Highway JAZZ is also one of the best I have ever played too so it just goes to show you don't need to sell your body for a gooden...but I accept it helps - again, play before you buy, excellent former advice then....vital actually
don't forget the MIM's.if you get a good one they're just as good as a MIA or MIJ but you really need to try a few.my blinged MIM P(http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=29009) is a fantastic bass & plays as well as any P bass i've ever played-sounds good too but i may just change the pup just for the sake of it.
15.
I own one of these - it's a nice little amp and I can vouch for its impressive performance (though it's actually only 130W with the built-in speaker - you'd need to connect an external 8 ohm cab to get the full 180). Is yours the latest version with the illuminated VU and the compressor, or an older one? S.P.
Hi.... Yes your right of course the wattage is around 130 with the built in 12" indeed. I have the interim model between the LED VU meter and compressor so I have the VU but not the compressor.
16. For Sale at a silly price: **** Withdrawn now, sorry **** £95 and collect only, Worcestershire area... Link to website here: http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/section.asp?section=eb This amp is excellent but i have upgraded to a larger rig so I no longer require this.... Take it from me this fills small to medium venues very well and has excellent shaping EQ facilities. Fantastic as new conditon as I am fanatical about keeping my stuff in perfect nik. 17. Rich... Track 1 I love, Elaine loves and when can we expect an iTunes download? Track 2 Nice but I agree about the vocals...still the Trump sounds awesome....and yes it's slooo but still, it grew on me and I liked it. Track 3 Marc would be impressed and it's a very fresh approach, although I am not completely convinced about the guitar solo I agree although it was short and did add that different take on things so top marks for bravery I think. Track 1 though.....wow
18. Awesome! Both your fretless are.... Have another bump on me and good luck with the sale and if no go, nearer Christmas I'll have this off you... if your still around that is ( I know your off to other climes )
