That's interesting to know about the Gramma. We seem to use similar gear/ covers and venues......... iv'e been having a gander at your facebook page. Can you get away with using the BB2 at most of your gigs on it's own? I play a lot of pub gigs and play loud covers like Foo's, QOTSA, Green day etc, so i am ike to sit fairly high in the mix with a mid/ trebly bass tone. cheers thebassman
It'll happily do small/mid sized pubs. I thought that my Gallien amp was struggling a touch at 350 watts into 8ohms but the Shuttle has loads more headroom and the cab seems to like it better. Just had to get over my fear of walloping the volume up! Once you get past halfway, the cab comes alive - the more power you dump into it the better it seems to like it :-) If you like zingy, that mid driver thingy is luvverly too - you can turn it down to taste. For the bigger gigs, I use my Big One too. If you wanted a proper play, you can always book a local studio for an hour or so and have a real blast if you get down my way.
Thanks for the reply, and even more so for your offer to let me come down for a blast. Next time I'm down that way, i'll give you a shout. I was wondering if a gramma pad might give it a bit of height, without messing with the floor coupling too much. Cheers Thebassman
I have a Gramma pad and tbh i try not to use it if poss. It definitely takes the rumble out too much for my liking on a normal floor and i only use it in specific circumstances. And it will only raise it an inch anyway.
Hi mudpup Do you have any problems using just this one cab, as in hearing yourself ok, as it's very small? Do you ever need to put it on a stand? Maybe a stupid question, but I'm looking for a one cab solution. Cheers Thebassman
Nope not really. It'll cheerfully take the Shuttle at +50% master volume and fill a medium sized pub. I tried it at one gig sat on top of the Big One (with the Big One unplugged) to raise it up but i found it lost its oomph a bit. Floor coupling definitely works in its favour. It throws a fair bit too - you can feel the air on your flares as much as hear it close up but if you walk into the audience its definitely getting heard. I am just in the process of going thru my first attempt at editing the recording on my Zoom from Saturday nights gig and have found the mix to be really good - on the night i thought i was a bit quiet (actually its a bloody loud drummer too) but it has really come through nicely. The recorder was on a shelf at the back wall of the pub. I could hear myself ok on stage but the outfront mix says it was louder out there. Youre welcome to pop down the M11 for a blast anytime - i am near Bishops Stortford.

thinking of selling my Hartke and trying Genz Benz
Horses for courses, I reckon. I tried a Shuttle 6 something, amongst others, when I was last looking at amps, and ended up buying an LH500.
Spot on I did the opposite :-) Sold an LH500 and bought a Shuttle 9.2 - suits me much better although the LH500 was still a great amp. -
Buy a Carvin BX1500 through BassDirect....and thank me later
Did you mean BassGear??
Thanks for posting, really big Paramore fan and I love that song.
Heres the link to the sore throat version Linus. The roughness sort of adds to the tone of the song ( works for me anyway!) http://youtu.be/QKPuAwJuxzY
Thanks for that mudpup, Iv seen some of these style cases for cameras that have loops at the top so I can attach a strap as well. Will look at them as well.
Mine came with a strap too - the loops are on the sides -

I use one of these for both my GB Shuttle 9.2 and Gallien MB Fusion500. Its the same as a Maplins one for £35 and has room for the amp and a couple of pedals/tunes if you dont put the amp in the middle of the case.
I absolutely love this. i thought Anita Baker could sing. i think she is fabulous
Ah yes, one of my all time fave female vocal performances. She does a great People get Ready too. If you like girly vocals, have a look at this below - its absolutely effortless. Real stripped back and raw. Theres also version filmed on a rooftop in London where Hayley has a chest infection and the rasp even sounds great!

Xildxx - please keep quiet about those (the laws of supply and demand yknow!) -
Just got 3 sets of Legacy 45-105 nickel bass string sets for Xmas but i dont like them (i'm a zingy stainless sort of guy at heart!) So, 2 sets are still in the boxes unused and 1 set have been on a Fender Jazz for 3 days with a playing time of about 3 hours i guess (cut for a 4 a side headstock - should fit 2 a sides too though) They cost £7.95 each from Strings Direct (£25 inc postage) - I would like £20 including postage for all 3 sets. Or some sort of swap for some stainless strings would be good too - whatcha got? Thanks for looking

I want to get a portable recorder thingy to record a few of our gigs and rehearsals. Needs a decent battery life, sound quality, mp3 format (i think) and the ability to mix in a desk feed sounds attractive too. I have narrowed it down to a Tascam DR40, Roland R05 or maybe a Zoom Q2HD (which will also do video) Budget ideally under £180 Any suggestions/experience with them?
Has anybody seen more of the incredibly priced NX2-212T's around. Looks like I was a bit late with the GAK offer.
I want a low A. The Cab is still functioning perfectly fine and there is no percieved drop in performance or tone. I am pushing the Jeff Berlin combo to it's max. The sound is very good and I want amazing and more volume available should I need it. I bought the S12 to complement the compact and a PF500, but they can't work together so am trying a GK2001rb. I know a bass player who swears by the GK head and knows everything about it so I will get him around to help me out. Have heard him play and he cuts through as clean as a whistle so should be plenty of tonal goodness.
I may be wrong but isn't that a 4ohm S12 and an 8ohm compact? Are you sure your amp will be happy with that? It all sounds a bit unbalanced to me if I am correct. The Super 12 will be taking a load more output than the Compact and the Compact is doing the harder work too. Probably best to give Alex a shout just in case. And a PF500 doesn't have the finest reliability rating when you need to push it - loads of failure issues recently with them. Be careful.
Hmmmm..... I just wish I could try one out! Despite the rave reviews, I still find it hard to believe that a single 12" could give me the sort of sound I'm used to! Although I really want to believe that it could so that I can have a smaller rig. I reckon a Shuttle 9.2 would drive a BB2 pretty well
I have that exact head/cab combo and it does. Welcome to come over for a blast.

I have the Mono on both basses. Love 'em. They feel bombproof and are so comfy. Agree about the length thing though. I tried both lengths and settled on running the long strap at its shortest ish. The short strap at its longest wasnt right. They should just do one version thats inbetween. Suggest you buy online so you can try one for a week before you decide.
