3. Just received Andy's Bongo and it's fabulous! As described, speedy delivery and well packed. Absolute pleasure doing business. Hope the Ishibashi purchase works out! Regards Rich
4.
oooh, silly me, hooray for other people! I will research at lunch. Rich, this is what the bongo is paying for! Dangerous.
At least it's going to a good cause!!
5.
Hi folks, Has anyone used Ishibashi Music in Japan before? I've spotted a used precision on there, and i've emailed them to take it further. I was really just wondering how people got on with them, the process of waiting, being stung for import duty etc. I did email them last year, but the bass i'd seen was sold, so didn't get much further. Fingers crossed this time. Any wise words? Andy
Have you seen the pinned 'Importing Guitars' thread in 'Bass Guitars'? Rich
Anyone tried the bottom of the range? the 44-01? its meant to be a good all rounder for the price? Thinking of investing and I can't stretch to a grand plus!
I have and it was good in a passive way, but for the same price as a newbie 44-01 you can pick up a mint 44-02 which is just that bit extra. Got mine from Josh on here and it is superb. Regards Rich
I would prefer a passive bass because i have an active one but the fact that you can get more tones out of the 4-94 is tempting. What is the JO like when you really pluck hard? Is there any clipping?
IME, not that much different to a JB from the big F.

Very similar, as in I can't tell the difference (both seem to be same widths and profiles at nut and 12th).

How's about a 44-02? Got a DJ, JO and 44-02. A/Bd 44-94 and 44-02 and had a very hard time justifying the price difference between them. Tone/sound and general fit and finish was so close, confident I'd made the right choice of a 44-02 and saved myself enough for a decent Japanese JB too... Love the JO and the DJ (both Skylines BTW) and both have their place, but ultimately the 44-02 is that bit more versatile and it's the one I'd go for if the house was on fire! Regards Rich Edit! - ultimately, try before you buy (if you can!)
11. Try the seymour duncan link below. You're gonna need to have some form of switching (I'd guess), so you'll have to add another pot to the PB, unless you go stacked (if you can get them/afford them!) http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wirin...=musicman_pbass Regards Rich Just a thought/edit, also try: http://www.brotherdave.com/ and http://www.mediawebsource.com/guitar/pickup.htm But there must be loads more out there!
12. Check out Talkbass first. 'Mixed' reviews..... http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.p...ighlight=soares Forgot to add, check out the use of nails - genius!
13. This is just like torture.... Cannot believe this is still here.... If anyone is thinking about buying this bass, it will not disappoint! Have a bump on me if only so I can sleep at night! Rich
14. How's about Moon? The one I tried was a lovely alternative to the Big F.
15. Damn, damn and damn with small furry knobs on!!!!! Just when I thought I was free of all GASeous attacks..... This turns up!! It is a thing of beauty and I'm out of cash.... If I can sell a couple of PBs and some Warwicks and it's still around..... Good luck with the sale otherwise... (Love my Lakkies to bits and this would fit in very, very nicely....)
16. Last UK-based one went for £255.01 on the 'Bay.... I was tempted....
17. I've both, and a definite +1 to Josh and Linus. Find a local dealer, take the MM and A/B them is the only way you're ever really going to find out. So many variables will make an awful lot of difference. If you're ever near Cambridge, you're welcome to come along and try. regards Rich
18. Guess I can add my 17, so that should make it currently 1665...
19.
Looking to trade my Jazz bass for a Fender Precision or similar type of bass , i bought this bass off of Deaver and it is a nice enough bass but im finding that the Jazz bass sound isn't really doing it for me (have always been more of a P bass kind of person) , the pots on the bass have been changed to US fender pots and the pickups have been changed to US pickups which i bought from another tber as the original pickups were giving me problems , otherwise bass is completely stock. Im after swapping for a Fender Precision or an Ibanez ATK300 bass, will consider other basses as well so dont be afraid to ask. Im based in the Croydon area (london) btw ashtray bridge cover included EDIT: Price dropped to £270 as I lowered the action last night as I generally keep the action quite high on my basses and I discovered some fret buzz on the upper frets of the D string , bass would likely need a truss rod tweak to get action low
PM'd!
20. Lakky JO4 Lovely Lakkyness (now want a DJ4....). Great Bass. Great deal. Great bloke. Buy with confidence! Many thanks John. Regards Rich
21. A FJ5 Bitzer with a Bass Doc custom Tort plate. Fantastic bit of kit, for a good price, great deal, great bloke! He does custom scratchplates, so I suggest getting in touch with him. Many thanks Howard. Keep well!! Regards Rich
22. Another humpington! Duck Dunn and Bob Glaub added to the wish list!
23.
Thanks Rich but I'm after a maple neck, Fender P or MM. The Glaub is a fine bass, just can't seem to settle with it.
Not a problem! Good luck with your quest!! Regards Rich
24. Another long shot (I'm looking for a DJ4 if I can get it), but would you be interested in a Warwick Jazzman 4? Linky: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=48727 Regards Rich
