  1. Thanks for the additional replies, folks. Defintely thinking about the buiild route as the price difference between that and the most suitable alternative (probably the C2) is substantial. There's been some great suggestions - thanks for all the input so far.
  2. Now you mention it, I'm pretty sure my local B&Q does - or at least did - offer this service. I'll check.
  3. Brilliant, thank you; precisley what I would need to do, I think. Did that price include the wood or did you have to send that to them in the first instance? How did the build go after that?
  4. Maybe, maybe not. My 1 x 10's (Purple Chili customs) are pretty compact but size is definitely a factor as this set up will stay in our sitting room and needs to be as unobtrusive as possible. Phil's cab looks quite a bit smaller in every dimension and that will be extremely advantageous - certainly as Mrs Culture is concerned.
  5. i've never got used to usng headphnes, to be honest. I tend to simply play along to tracks I stream through my stereo, hence the requirement for a small practice cab. I say 'practice' but I'm not really talking about dedicated practice or exercises so much as simply playing along to anything Spotify chucks my way when I'm chilling. I take the same approach to learning a new song when it's needed too.
  6. Thanks, both, for your replies. @TheGreek- that Schroeder cab looks brilliant, but probable too much (money!) for the specific role I ave in mind for it. @Phil Starr- I've read so many of your cab build threads and have often found myself wondering whether I could 'grow a pair' and try one. My woodworking skills are pretty limited and I don't really own the tools to make a good enough job of it, but I'm sorely tempted to have a go at this one. The difficulty for me would be to get the panels cut accurately and neatly. I think, with care, I could assemble and secure them. I guess I'd need to try to find someone in the Chester area with a CNC machine who could cut them for me.
  7. I'm trying to put a set-up together that I can stick in the corner of our lounge to have a tinker downstairs when the mmod takes me (phnarr, phnarr...), so size is central consideration. I have a couple of 1 x 10's for rehearsals and gigs so it really only be needed for lower volume playing, and will be paired with a Warwick Gnome. Anyone know of any sensibly priced options put there? Thanks.
  8. Hi Lapolpora, I'll take this if I may. I'll PM you for payment details. Thanks.
  9. I bought this a few months ago for a specific project - namely some front room practice with my guitarist ahead of my 60th birthday party gig. Birthday's been had, gig has been played and I have no further gigs in the diary nor band to play in, so this has now served its purpose. It's an excellent little combo with some really useful features for practice - semi-parametric EQ, for example, and on-board tuner (who doesn't love an on-board tuner, hey?). It's in pristine, as new condition and has all the original packaging/instruction booklet etc. It's easy to get a decent sound out off courtesy of the flexible EQ and goes loud enough to accompany acoustic instruments and low volume electric easily. GAK have these at £149 at present so how does £110 delivered within mainland UK sound? I am located in the fair city of Chester, the third point of the Liverpool/Manchester triangle and eminently accessible by rail or car. So if anyone wants to try it/collect it I can do it for £100. The wee beasty itself: Thanks for looking everyone. I'm presently off work for two weeks as I have Bell's Palsy (or Bell-end's Palsy as a wag 'friend' coined it) so can get this sent out quite quickly.
  10. As well as making fantastic basses, Mike also makes great cabs (I've got two of his 1 x 10's). GLWTS
  11. Yep, same here - TNT 130 user about 35 years ago. I remember it being an absolute belter.
  12. I'm having a 60th birthday party in Chester in February and I'm looking for a 2/3/4 piece band with a repertoire of 60s/70s/80s/90s party/pop/soul/disco stuff to play. No metal or heavy/hard rock, just stuff people might dance to. Has anyone got any recommendations? Can you PM me with details if so? Many thanks. Thanks, Mark
  13. I'm so late to the party on this - sorry. Just posted my own review now though.
  14. Lovely to see Peter again today, when he came to pick my Zoot Funkmeister up. It's nice to know it's going to such a great home. We had a good catch up for an hour and a half or so, played a bit and the next door neighbour's even popped his head round the door to say hello. Absolute pleasure to do business with him again, Peter - a true gent and 100% trustworthy. Enjoy the bass, my friend.
  15. Having checked the photos, I can see exactly what you mean now. I'd not realised that I've taken the photo of the side at an angle, and the dots are just out of sight as a result.
  16. Great - thanks all for these comments. Certainly gives me some food for thought.
  17. It does - dots in the normal positions, between the frets.
  18. I presently have a Boss OC-5 and an EBS Unichorus as my only effects, which I use rarely anyway. I keep toying with the idea of acquiring a TC Plethora X-3 instead, just to tidy things up, but was wondering how (especially) the Sub 'n' Up on the Plethora compares to the OC-5. Anyone been in a position to compare them?
  19. No surprises there - you've probably saved me from myself anyway. 😁
  20. Knowing me you'll probably be successful too! 🙄
  21. Oh Gawd, I keep coming back to this because it's...oooh, a couple of years since my last multi-fx unit was purchased, played with for a bit, boxed and and moved on after another six months when I realised I was never going to use it. This looks soooo nice and user friendly though - and at such a saving over a new one! Stop it, stop it, stop it!!!
  22. Thanks JA. Still a little wider than my cabs (15"). I'll need to decide whether I could cope with that...🤔
  23. @JapanAxe- the manual gives the width as about 19" but I'm not sure if this is with the rack brackets (as shown in the manual picture) or not. Would you mind checking after all for me?
